Several weeks ago L. Bailey Penzotti was hired by BARON FAMILY LAW as their Managing Family Law attorney. Bailey is an exceptional woman who dedicates herself to each client. I know, as I am one of them. Bailey re-structured my Trust a few months ago and I am so thankful that I chose her to do this task for me. Bailey didn't just do the paperwork, but explained in detail what each section meant, and what the changes I was making would mean down the line. Instead of just handing me a completed pack of paperwork Bailey made me an integral part of the journey.....I can now take a deep breath and know that everything will go smoothly and exactly how I want it to go.
Baron Family Law Scam
This law firm, Baron Family Law, is a scam. I am currently going through a tragic divorce. I hired Baron Family Law to help me with my divorce case. I have spent around $30,000 with this law firm.
I paid $15,000 for a retainer fee, then an additional $7,000 on top of that, and even more after—bringing the total to about $30,000. This law firm messed up my entire case.
I STILL OWE A BALANCE AFTER PAYING $30,000
On January 3, 2026, I was assigned to attorney Kelly Lynn Campbell-McKay (#35198). I went to one court date with her for an emergency motion. She wrote a stipulation with her team at Baron Family Law. That was the only positive thing that happened in my case.
On February 4, 2026, I received an email from Kelly stating that she would be departing from Baron Family Law within a few weeks of my case starting.
On February 4, 2026, I was assigned a new attorney, Jordan Taylor Portfield (#764746). In total, I attended three court dates with Jordan. She did not help much, if at all, during the court proceedings.
Jordan spoke less than 20 words and spent most of the time just listening, as if she were in an elementary school classroom. I told Jordan that nothing was being done, but she responded that “everything will be figured out down the road.”
She also said that her team needed to receive more money. Jordan would not listen to me or take my side in any way. She kept agreeing that opposing counsel was right and that we should do what they said.
I was assigned an attorney who just came out of law school. Jordan would argue on the phone way better than she did in court.
DON’T WASTE YOUR’RE MONEY AT THIS CIRCUS THEY ARE CLOWNS WHO WILL ASK FOR THE SAME INFORMATION OVER AND OVER AND WILL SCAM. THESE PEOPLE AT THIS LAW FIRM STRESSED ME OUT MORE THAN MY DIVORCE CASE

I’m thankful for this law firm. When all Lawyers said no they said yes. I had problems finding a lawyer because the judge set a trial date. My ex husband was planing on ending support even though I had health issues. My bills were insane and I was barely able to survive. His Lawyer had no problems representing a millionaire that did not want to pay a small amount monthly. Not sure how lawyers do the work they do. It’s a tough job. I did my own research in the months prior which really helped. I’m thankful for Amanda at Baron Law. Thank you for representing me so that I did not have support end completely. The amount I settled on was ok after legal fees it as less than i thought I should get but it was way better than nothing. Note to self when an ex husband keeps the kids and threatens to blame them for the failed marriage…..just keep fighting right from the beginning don’t anticipate the worst go with your own gut! I spent about $7,000 with this firm and have virtually nothing to show for it on the central issue in my case.
The main issue involved determining whether my former spouse was receiving income from a trust. Despite this being identified as a key issue, formal discovery was not pursued early, and interrogatories were sent without requesting important financial information. As a result, key evidence was delayed.
There were also serious concerns with document handling. Financial records were produced without properly redacting personal transactions, even though privacy concerns had been clearly discussed beforehand. This led to unnecessary disclosure of private financial information unrelated to the case.
After consulting with other attorneys, I learned that several basic discovery steps could have been taken much earlier. I ultimately had to hire another attorney and take additional steps myself just to move the case forward.
I also requested a supervisory review of the billing and the return of my remaining retainer balance, but my concerns have not been meaningfully addressed.
Advice to others: If you are considering this firm for a family law or divorce matter, ask very specific questions about discovery strategy, billing practices, and whether you will be able to review documents before they are sent out.
Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage others to proceed with caution.
Baron family law is absolutely top notch. Sheri, the intake specialist is amazing 🤩, a built-in therapist and law firm in one. You will feel heard and properly represented.

I didn't end up having a consultation with this lawyer, but my experience was very disappointing. From the beginning, the focus seemed to be only on collecting payment for the consultation. Once I paid, I received no communication about scheduling the consultation. I called and emailed multiple times with no response. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to reach the lawyer by phone and email, I began calling specifically to request a refund. The receptionist took my information and said someone would get back to me, but then disappeared again for several days with no response. I received no communication about my refund and had to dispute the charge with my bank. Imagine paying a retainer fee and never hearing back again.
