I absolutly would not recommend this doctor. I waited over an hour for my appointment was not seen and was told the wait would be longer. I was told he had such a big patient pool that someone should have told me that the wait would be really long. I suggest not overbooking if that is the case. No one should have to wait hours for a scheduled appointment. Do better!
I had been a patient of Dr Eskew for many years.Always the most kind considerate Dr i had ever had.Also made me laugh a lot.Very knowledgeable in each specality.He chose to separate his practice from his long term practice of many years. Due to.getting allergy shots in home town closer to me than Austin,I have stayed with his long time partner. I surely do miss him and hope to.see him.again someday.Miss you much Dr Eskew.God Bless you.Jeanette Hawk.
Had an appointment setup with James R. Eskew. Showed up on time but despite that had to wait 1.5 hours. While I was waiting the nurse performed simple diagnostics on me but never shared the results. Due to the long wait decided I'd rather just reschedule or find another doctor. Days later I got a charge from the office for a service not rendered.
My eye doctor (not with Texan Eye) said that I needed cataract surgery and of course I conducted extensive research (including using AI) to find the best in the Austin area. Good news is I found Dr Tom Walters, MD at Texan Eye who is clearly the most knowledgeable, experienced, and highest rated cataract and laser surgeon with the best record of success in all of Texas and likely beyond. Also good news is he determined that I did not need to get cataract surgery at this time as my vision could be corrected to 20/20 at all distances with glasses with the latest progressive lens technology. My wife and I stopped by their optical shop on the way out and I got fitted with a cool pair of rimless glasses that my wife says make me look "hot"!
Dr. Eskew gives me hope in the medical field. He is a true example of a wise, logical, and composed doctor. He is so knowledgeable and I truly believe that he is not in this field solely for profit — he’s in it to HELP OTHER PEOPLE. My words can’t describe how highly I think of and respect him. There are only two doctors I can say this about and he is one of them. If you listen to any review let it be this. He has good intent of getting to the problem and helping you improve quality of life. He is neutral and equable with good intentions. That is so rare to find in the medical field especially in Austin. You may not get every answer and progress but if any ENT can solve your problems it will be him. I pay out of pocket to see him and I wouldn’t change a thing. He is worth every dollar. Thank you for everything you do Dr. Eskew. This is a doctor you need to see <3
At least $1000 to $1300 for getting the ears checked.
Crazy expensive, not worth it.

Dr. Eskew is a rare gem. They truly do not make doctors like him anymore. His knowledge, intelligence, compassion, diligence, interpersonal skills, and just presence is a blessing to me and every patient under him. He has taken care of me and my dad and we just adore him. He is THE GREATEST DOC OF ALL TIME and as he refers to himself the Best boogerpicker :D. Thank you Dr. Eskew for all your care of Austin community!!

I was under 32yrs old in 1991. I had already had full blown sinus surgery twice, once in '88 and again in '89 due to uncontrolled polyp growth, due to allergies. I was on buckets of antibiotics and steroids. Moved to Austin for job change. Things started going downhill again. I'm getting chronic bad sinus infections and my life was coming unglued.
So I rolled the dice and went to see Dr Eskew. Told him what was going on. He listened very very intently. He carefully looked at all my records and MRI scans. Asked me lots of questions. I'll never forget the way he stared at the wall for about 2 minutes straight.
Then he said he had a pretty good idea of what was going on, and that I was probably going to need surgery again. I asked him directly; "Do you feel pretty confident about this?". He locked eyes with me and replied: "yes".
He fixed it. I don't need to bore you with the details. BTW- I am writing this review 33 years later. This man is a Saint. Hands down.
And I can't say enough good about his main nurse/assistant. I can't recall her name at the moment (please forgive me). She is top shelf, one in 10 million.

Way back in 1986 Doc did reconstructive surgery on my ears. I owe him my hearing. He saw me every 2 weeks for months on end until he got my ear infections under control, before surgery. I miss him more than anything - haven't been to an ENT since my post-op checkups. I need to schedule an appt the next time I go to visit family because I only trust him! He's a great doctor very attentive, patient and knowledgeable. Over all he really knows what he is doing and is very good at it. He has bin working with me for about 2 years now. When I trid going with a nother doctor, I did because of insurance reason. Everything with the other doctor went rong, but doctor Eskew really help me get through it all sence then I have stade with him ever since. I thank God every day for putting him in my path may God bless him always
