The care and thoroughness of this practice is amazing. From robust and investigative questions to plans that make sense, this clinic has been beyond helpful. If you are tired of being a "12 minute patient" (no time to really explain what's going on or to receive subpar care), Aspen is the place to go. After 20 plus years of signs and symptoms being ignored (IYKYK), Dr. Mele took the time to listen and help create a logical plan. My pain is reduced, my functionality is increasing, and the best part is, I am actually listened to. Thank you to everyone at Aspen for your kindness, knowledge, and understanding.

I have been seeing Dr. Mele since the summer of 2025 to help treat some complex health issues, and I am so grateful I found her! She is kind, thorough, patient and her treatment protocols are both gentle and effective! I have felt heard, understood, and supported every step of the way, and finally see light at the end of a tunnel. Her staff is also very kind and responsive, making the whole experience incredibly supportive - cannot recommend Aspen Integrative Medical Center enough.

I’m grateful to have found Aspen Integrative Medical Center. Dr. Mele is so kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. Jane, Amelia, and Nurse Aaron are professional and genuinely caring. Recently, I contracted pneumonia and went to the office for an acute visit. I was able to have my bloodwork done there in the clinic and Dr. Mele responded with a balanced approach by prescribing needed conventional medicines as well as natural remedies. My husband was with me and was so impressed with the whole experience that he said he would rather pay more to go there than go to a regular clinic. I couldn’t agree more.
I do not recommend this practice. I spent $465 only to feel incredibly worse. Ahead of my appointment, I spent hours filling out online forms, pages of them. Dr. Mele spent an hour with me, but 55 minutes of this appointment was going over the paperwork in a very dry manner. At the end of the appointment, she prescribed a tincture and herbal mixture. These exacerbated my symptoms. When I called to office, I was told I would need to spend another $75 for a short visit because my condition "was complex." I declined. The paperwork and high costs are blamed by the practice on the fact that they don't bill insurance. However, whether they bill insurance or not, they get paid. It's the patient, like me, who pays out of pocket and wants to get well. Unfortunately, I paid out of pocket and got worse. Dr. Mele did offer to take back and refund the tincture and herbal mixture. Not very helpful to get back $65 on a $465 visit and feel worse. Additionally, one person in the office is amazingly pleasant, and the other one does not even seem to like people.

Hi Karen, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your visit did not meet your expectations and that you felt worse afterward. Our goal is always to provide thoughtful, individualized care, and we never want a patient to leave feeling discouraged.
Because we practice personalized, integrative medicine, we do ask patients to complete detailed intake paperwork so our providers can fully understand their health history, concerns, and goals. Many patients find this supports more comprehensive care, though we understand it can feel extensive.
With any treatment, there are generally three possible responses — improvement, no noticeable change, or sometimes a temporary worsening of symptoms. While we always hope patients feel better, any response can provide useful clinical insight and help guide adjustments to care. Follow-up visits are often recommended for this reason, particularly when a condition is complex, so we can reassess safely and refine the plan based on how you’re responding. These follow-ups help ensure you receive the most appropriate treatment adjustments moving forward.
We’re glad we were able to refund the supplements, though we understand that may not have offset your overall frustration. We also appreciate your feedback about our staff — both the kind words and the constructive comments — as patient experience is very important to us and something we continually work to improve.
We sincerely wish you the best moving forward in your health journey.
Kindly,

I started seeing Dr. Mele in November. I was feeling pretty low and stressed about ongoing stomach issues that I couldn’t figure out. This is my first experience working with a naturopath and it’s been a process. But I can feel things shifting in me. It feels like we are excavating some deeper issues, so other symptoms have been popping up, but I have been experiencing definite progress. It’s a wholistic experience, not a quick fix. I’ve been doing a lot of emotional processing along the way and allowing myself to be right where I am at. I am grateful for Dr. Mele - her knowledge, wisdom and compassion. This has all felt very vulnerable and I feel like I have a true ally in the process. Highly recommend.

Great place! Finally a doctor who doesn’t just have you in and out and make you feel like a number. They saw me for over a whole hour and listened to everything I had to say for my cancer treatment and therapy, also did the hyperbaric oxygen therapy which not only was affordable but also went really well and felt good during the entire process. Best place I’ve been to in a while
Update: I received more answers with Dr. Mele in 30 minutes than I did at the ER on New Year’s Eve. It’s been 24 hours and I am feeling so much better. Not sure what this evil virus/sickness is that’s going around, but what Dr. Mele did and prescribed has helped immensely. And I super appreciate the fact that I was able to bring my health advocate (the spouse) and that was welcomed. We all need support and for that support to be honored. Go to Aspen if you want to be treated like a real human and not just another insurance claim.
After 10 years of being ignored, I am finally getting answers and treatment. If you are tired of being put in a box, misdiagnosed, and told it's all in your head, you need Aspen. Professional, kind, caring, and well educated with verifiable resources...I am so happy I found Apsen! Thank you to the staff and Doctor Mele for doing what you do, the world needs more people like you!

Horrible! If you have MOLD... Run. All about money, not about care. Dr. Mele doesn't know how to treat people nor children, especially for mold. Dr. Mele has been terrible! I've found Dr. Mele is money seeking, doesn't tend to her patients needs/ concerns, within timing in which is important. The meds she put me and my 2 kids on were not fitting to the diagnosis of mold. In turn her protocol of meds caused huge reactions w/ with my son in which it took Dr. Mele 3 days to respond while she was out of town. There is no On Call Doctor, and Dr. Mele is prescribing meds that regular doctors or ER wouldn't understand. This company should be available for emergencies when they are prescribing especially to little kids. My son was close to a fever, throwing up, nauseas, crying in pain, diarrhea, extreme stomach pain, pale, with painful hot itching red skin patches all over his body, and myself severe stomach and liver pain for weeks, and my daughter severe diarrhea. Her reaction was to get off the meds, nothing else for help, and we'll revisit over a month later. SO that's a family that's ill, and tested positive MOLD (kids high levels of mold) to wait for treatment all that time. Also she also prescribed us meds UNDAS, drops, nasal sprays, AND NAC before our mold tests came back positive! This is the stuff that made us ill. All Money! Some of the concoctions she handmade and I had to call in and ask Jane what is in these prescriptions and what do they do? I couldn't read the label and neither could Jane the receptionist. Dr. Mele didn't address all my health concerns that were important, and when I asked about my other medical concern (she even asked for my scan for the initial visit), it's was you need to make another apt, and said to me I asked you if you had any more concerns, but in truth she did not say this, she said we're ( her and her trainee) going to step outside to review a plan, came back and said she needed a few days to figure out a plan for the mother and cut our apt short. After we drove 2 hours to get there! After mentioning me having to pay again, I said I shouldn't have to, and Jane said if I wanted I could bring it up in the January apt. Our Labs & Mold Test results Dr. Mele has been unwilling to review without an appointment a over a month later. Tested in November, scheduled for January. She said she felt our tests weren't emergent, even though we are ill. She won't talk to us like she originally said upon first meeting, I only talk to Jane the receptionist. My kids doctor who used to treat adults for mold, my doctor, and 2 different functional Doctors for kids and adults have told us our tests needed to be tended to right away (!) and that her protocol, especially NAC, should have never (!) been used starting out. My Doctor and the Functional Kids doctor felt additional labs needed to be done right away, and the tests were cause for concern. Dr. Mele should not be treating people, especially kids, for mold. We spent a lot of money for visit, tests, and meds for no help, no care, no concern. $1700 first visit. And Dr. Mele threw in my face she thinks money is a issue, I never mentioned that, but I did for the more and more apts she/Jane wanted to schedule, but money...of course it is important, I have a family and this is all cash....no insurance to get my family well. Everytime I called to ask something it was money money money, schedule for every little thing...there's no Doctor communication only with her receptionist. Dr. Mele might know other things to treat...but NOT MOLD! If you think you have mold exposure...don't go here. See a functional REAL doctor that specializes in MOLD.

Hi Patricia,
We’re truly sorry to hear that this was your experience and that your family has continued to face health challenges since your initial visit. We know how difficult and emotional it can be to navigate complex medical concerns—especially when children are involved—and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Since the initial consultations, ongoing efforts were routinely made to communicate clearly, address questions, and provide guidance throughout the course of care.
Because patient privacy is extremely important to us, we’re unable to discuss specific details of care, diagnoses, test results, or treatment plans in a public forum. However, we would like to offer some general context regarding our care model.
First, our providers are highly mold-literate and have extensive training and clinical experience in the evaluation and management of these conditions. Care in this area requires a thoughtful, individualized, and stepwise approach, with close attention to tolerance—particularly in pediatrics. When concerning reactions are reported, it is standard practice to pause or discontinue a suspected agent and reassess before moving forward, prioritizing safety and appropriate pacing.
Between scheduled visits, additional guidance is often needed and promptly provided, including answering questions, reviewing updates, and recommending testing when clinically indicated—often without charge. As outlined in the informed consent and office policies reviewed when care is established, detailed laboratory review and treatment plan adjustments are addressed during scheduled follow-up visits to allow for thorough evaluation, documentation, and shared decision-making. Patients are routinely invited to raise any additional questions or concerns during these visits. When new or unrelated medical issues arise between visits, additional history and evaluation are often required and are best addressed during a dedicated appointment.
Second, discussions about cost are initiated only when a patient expresses financial concerns. In those situations, care options are discussed collaboratively to remain clinically appropriate while being as financially feasible as possible. When concerns about the cost of follow-up visits are raised, efforts are often made to provide additional guidance between appointments at no charge, though follow-up visits may still be clinically appropriate to ensure safe and effective care, as outlined in our informed consent.
Like many specialty practices, emergency or on-call services are not provided, and patients are advised to seek urgent or emergency care when acute or severe symptoms arise. Care is offered through a direct-pay model, which allows for extended visits and comprehensive management of complex cases. Fees are consistent with those of other specialty and functional medicine practices offering similar levels of time, oversight, and clinical expertise, and all policies are reviewed in advance so patients can make informed decisions.
We truly regret when expectations do not align and recognize how stressful navigating chronic illness—especially as a parent—can be. Any patient with unresolved concerns is encouraged to contact the office directly so they can be addressed thoughtfully and respectfully.
We wish your family clarity, support, and healing as you move forward.

I highly recommend Dr. Mele. I have received craniosacral therapy from Dr. Mele and I found it to be very helpful for structural relief and relaxation. As a local practitioner, I have also referred patients to her and they have had great experiences with her care. She is thorough and thoughtful and has many tools to care for people. I have had pain on the left side of my right knee for about 10 years. Two years ago I had an MRI that showed no structural damage to the knee but it still hurt. I went to see Dr Despres at Aspen Integrative and he recommended Prolozone therapy. I researched it and it sounded like a good option so I had an injection. Immediately after the injection the pain is gone and it generally last for 3 to 4 months but I understand it could heal completely.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Bruce! I’m thrilled that Prolozone therapy has brought you relief and made a real difference in your daily life. It means a lot to me that you trust me with your care. While I’m happy that you’re getting 3–4 months of relief, I’m also hopeful we can achieve lasting results. If Prolozone alone isn’t enough, we can explore other options such as stem cells, exosomes, or PRP to help find a long-term solution. Thanks again! Dr. Paul
Dr. Despres at Aspen Integrative is the best doctor I’ve ever had. He truly listens and always meets me where I’m at. What I appreciate most is that he lets me take an active role in my own protocol instead of just telling me what to do. It feels like a partnership in my care, which is rare to find. Jane, the medical assistant, is also wonderful! I always leave feeling heard, respected, and supported. I can’t recommend them highly enough!
