Dr. Courtney worked his magic on my ruptured & herniated lower discs (Level 11 pain & club foot) in 2014 w/ his proprietary cage apparatus & procedure. I changed my activites & lower back abuse (except for playing golf 6 wks post surgery @ H.S. Reunion), and except for the immediate recovery period, have had no pain or back problems since. Research your back issues & ask questions. I highly recommend Dr. Courtney and his staff.
I just hit 10 years after Dr. Courtney did my L4-L5 microdiscectomy and am grateful for it everyday. I blew out a disc when I was 15 and he told it to me straight I would need surgery and gave me the pain support until the surgery. I am medical school now trying to help people like Dr. Courtney helped me.
Dr Courtney is not the doctor you should go to if you want your issues resolved. My appointment lasted 10 minutes and he did less probing than my chiropractor did. Paperwork was super long and staff is not really nice, you can tell they like more volume than quality of work.
Dr Courtney may be brilliant (which i dont know) but he sure is arrogant. Most poster/magazine/handout has his face or name.
I can't say enough about Dr. Courtney and Megan, actually all of his team. I've been seeing him for 5 or so years. He performed my spinal fusion surgery the fall of 2023, a few complications, and they had to go back in a couple of times . No matter the situation, him and Megan have always been there for me. Megan, has been my sidekick and she's very compassionate too. I'm definitely a patient they'll always remember and I'll always recommend Dr. Courtney, Megan, and all his staff.
Dr Courtney did my neck surgery, both of my 360 back surgeries and two other back surgeries. I would not go to another surgeon, he cares about his patients and it shows! I am completely pain free. Eminent Hospital is the best I have been to, the staff there and at the office are amazing. I trust his opinion and skills 100%
Dr Courtney has been my back Dr since 2000 He did my 1st back fusion then my neck surgery in 2005 and my 360 back surgery in 2024 He has been wonderful Always upfront and very informative He tells you the truth and what to expect. His staff are very professional. He cares about his patients and listens to any of their concerns He always sits down with you right before you go into surgery to answer any questions and to assure you that are in good hands I would never see another back dr When trying to decide on a good surgeon Dr Courtney is the very best
Dr Courtney has done 3 surgeries on me that only 1 of which was marginally sucessful, his arrogance and disregard for any one elses findings is what makes him unreliable and disregard for the truth if it isnt inline with his findings makes him a health hazard. Dr Courtney is arrogant to the point he won't admit to his mistakes to the point it caused me to lose most of the use of my right leg and partially lose feeling in left leg, my digestion is also messed up from nerve damage caused by his refusal to read mri reports and only look at the images which in my case he didn't look at all of them but only the lumbar when the problem was in the thoracic. He only saw a bone spur six months later in a thoracic mri and then pointed to the exact same findings in the report that were in the lumbar mri saying that meant I needed immediate surgery which he then delayed for over a month saying he would be out of town but when I had appointment because right leg was losing function he was in office but didn't answer when I ask what was considered an emergency because it was in my opinion. I can only guess that the outcome would have been better if he had done surgery 6 months earlier when it felt like a bee sting in my buttock instead of barely able to walk with a walker. In that 6 months I called his office repeatedly asking him to recheck mri at t10 t11 but was told there was nothing there even after radiologist and pain Dr said I was at risk of being paralyzed from waist down, he even said he had no idea what they were talking about. If you value your ability to walk and have any quality of life steer clear of him. Also look up news report on him. He led me to believe I would regain use of my leg until the 2 years to file a law suit expired which I didn't find out until a month to late. Some of this may be my opinion but the mri images and reports and my physical condition along with him lying to me that he reviewed them is fact. He need his license to be taken since he built a hospital to have surgical privileges with terrible patient care that I was subjected to. Ran out of pain med twice to the point I threatened leaving against medical advice if not discharged. I would welcome the chance to discuss these facts with him or the medical board or the reporter that wrote article on him.
Dr Stephen Courtney in my personal opinion it the best. I am a walking example of this man's work. 22 years ago in May of 2002 he did major back surgery on me a year later he did neck surgery. I have moved back to Idaho in the cold climate. I have not had one problem with my back or neck. After moving back to Idaho I went back to wildland fire fighting. Still no problems with what he did to repair my back and neck. I'm now 60 years old. Still no problem. Living life to it fullest because of this man

Dr. Courtney and his staff are great! The staff members are friendly and helpful. I was in a great deal of pain and they made every effort to make me comfortable. Dr. Courtney and his PA, Megan, are very informative. Both of them took the time to explain everything to me and my husband so we had a full understanding of my condition. I was given a folder with detailed pages explaining everything going on, what to do, and treatment plan.
I have been waiting awhile for this appointment due to some things happening and appts needing to be rescheduled. However, I am a new patient and I left my home with more than enough time to make my appt. I called as courtesy to advise i was going to be 5-7 minutes late and the office doesn't go to lunch until 12pm. The lady advised me they could not hold the appointment for me which we all know even if your on time you still don't get seen till at least 10 minutes after your appt. So if your thinking of going to this office just don't or understand the customer service and lack of compassion for something is non existent. I called my doctor and asked for a referral elsewhere as this left a horrible taste in my mouth and would not want someone office like this performing a surgery on me when they cant even wait 5 minutes when someone calls as a courtesy to let them know.
The staff are beyond friendly, but the most important thing, I think Dr. Courtney is an amazing Doctor. I went in for chronic lower back pain and occipital neuralgia and I haven’t had a single migraine since he helped me. I live on the other side of the metroplex but I won’t let another doctor touch me.
I have had 3 surgeries by Dr. Courtney, first 2 went well enough. Third one was delayed because he missed the bone spur on first mri even though it was in report and he was asked to check it again repeatedly. Next one was done 5 months later and by time surgery was done pain went from stinging in buttock to using walker and still have very limited use of right leg and constant nerve pain. Nerve damage to lower body is still a problem 2+ years later. No I didn't sue because I thought it would improve and 2 year limit is past. Karma never forgets. Photos from 2nd mri and post op. Find Dr that reads reports and listens to your concerns, hospital care was another nightmare and Dr owned.
