My goodness what a lovely airport! I’ve visited Vancouver several times but never been to the airport. Spent about 2 hours here on a layover. Here are some highlights: 1. 🌲🌳🪴🌱 Lots of trees and plants inside the airport! I’m all for indoor greenery especially in places that are not large clear balls owned by Amazon! 2. 🧭 Very easy to navigate with a copious amount of signs in English, French, and Chinese! Give those sign makers a raise! 3. 👋 BUT if those signs aren’t doing it for you there are plenty of workers around who will answer your questions and not make you feel stupid for asking because feeling stupid when you have a question is just THE WORST! 4. 🏃‍♀️🏃 Super efficient security checks. The CATSA yell at you but it’s not like a hurry-up-you’re-slow😡yelling it’s more like a everyone-just-really-wants-this-system-to-work yelling you know? 5. ⏱️ idk if they always do this but one of the workers was like “anyone on the 1:30 flight from Winnipeg to LAX?” and these two people behind me that were out of breath raised their hands and the worker let them go to the front which honestly I don’t mind because we’ve all been there right??? 6. 🛃 Customs agent was funny and made some jokes which was a relief because 4 months ago driving across the border I said I was going to Murchie’s tea shop and the agent got mad and asked me why I was going to THAT tea shop and not ANOTHER tea shop as if the owner of Murchie’s bullied this guy in middle school or something. So yeah I’m ok with it if you make fun of what I bought on vacation as long as I can get home! 7. ☕️ If I had ONE complaint it would be that Tim Horton’s has its menu on a screen which kept changing from the menu to an advertisement which like what the heck?!because I need the menu to stay still for me to decide what I want to buy! Overall great experience! Also nice job with that universal health care thing and thanks for giving us Jim Carey and Sandra Oh!

If you are traveling on West jet allow way way way more time than you think to get through their archaic check in system from the stone age. Connecting passengers be warned.

Flew out of YVR after a cruise as a tour director with a group of 20. The airport itself is nice - some great choices for a bite to eat and places to relax. It was cruise ship disembarkation day, so probably more crowded than normal. There were a couple of guys playing some great live jazz that was welcome indeed. My only complaint - the airline staff (American and United). It took an average of 10 minutes per person to get them checked in. It was crazy inefficient. I’ve been in airports where agents can get passengers checked in in a few minutes. There were no issues, just excruciatingly slow. On the plus side - getting through security and immigration was quick and efficient. Nice to do the US passport control in Canada!

A wonderful experience, quick, efficient, access to many transportation options, including access to train transportation with connection to downtown Vancouver. Extremely affordable, excellent concept in which all international cities should copy.
