My orthopedic surgeon recommended that I see Xiaoming Tian before undergoing a surgical procedure to correct a pinched sciatica nerve in my left leg that left me unable to walk well. After six sessions, Dr. Tian corrected the problem, and I was able to avoid surgery. I can walk pain free seven months and counting after the treatments. I have pinched nerves in other locations since my treatments and Dr. Tian has been able to relieve the symptoms. Xiaoming Tian is a caring person and is highly competent.
My husband’s mouth became slanted, our family doctor excluded stroking, said it’s facioplegia, prescribed one week medicine and recommended him to take acupuncture. We find here, he took seven times and felt much better!
My dancing daughter’s feet hurt. We went here first then went to her pediatric doctor. Pediatrician said she’s plantar fasciitis. That reminded me she got this before. I’m not sure it’s due to new training or not cured completely before. Dr. Tian also find the sign my daughter’s back hurts, that one she graduated from physical therapy, I’m not sure if it’s due to new training or not cured completely before either. But I‘ll try continuing with acupuncture here.(My daughter scared of needles pretty much, so hers are not needle ones, she’s taking a magnetism type.)
I think the only possible complain here for me is that acupuncture with Dr. Tian is much too expensive. But there’s doctor in insurance net available there.
Wildwood Acupuncture Center is exceptional! The staff is friendly, making appointments is easy, and waiting time is minimal. Dr. Ming is superb! Since December, I had been experiencing chronic hip and back pain that limited my activity. Even after walking just a mile, I would feel a dull pain. However, after three acupuncture sessions with Dr. Ming every other day, I started doing daily walking exercises. In just two weeks, my hip pain has significantly diminished. I would highly recommend this place!
Xiaoming Tian is a competent, caring and effective acupuncturist, and that is coming form a physician who has done acupuncture since 1981. He has relieved my pain in a number of situations after I had the usual pain interventions, like epidurals, radio-frequency nerve ablations, dry needling and soft tissue injections. Highly recommended for unresponsive pain.
You will not find a better acupuncturist than Xiaoming Tian. He has been so effective in relieving pain for me in a number of situations, pain that did not respond to usual interventions, like epidurals, dry needling, radio-frequency nerve ablation, etc. It is such a blessing when chronic pain is relieved. It's a life-changer.
Dr. Ming's acupuncture treatment has been an immense help for my wellbeing and pain relief. It has been very effective, and I could feel the difference after just a few treatments. He is very professional, helpful, and understanding. Staff is very friendly, and wait times are very short. Treatment rooms are always extremely clean and sanitary, and are ideal for healing and relaxing. I cannot thank Dr. Ming enough for his services.
I have been seeing Dr. Ming for 6 weeks and am amazed at my back pain relief. It takes a few visits to start to feel a change but it really works. I recommend Dr. Ming's team, the front staff are very helpful and will check your insurance for you. He will even call you back if you have questions! I was a doubter and now am a believer.
Amazing. Professional. The real deal. I love this office and always look forward to my appointments and ALWAYS walk away feeling great.
I have been a patient at Wildwood since Jan 2012 when my doctor recommended it to treat a severe case of neuropathy I developed following major neck/spine surgery the previous year. That was the absolute BEST piece of medical advice I have ever received. During just my second visit I knew it was just a matter of "when" not "if" I would be cured. While receiving treatment Christina, my acupuncturist, noticed my knees were swollen. I told her that was common due to arthitis. She told me she could also treat that. Her treatment is now allowing me to avoid major surgery on both knees. I cannot say how much the quality of my life has increased due to her treatment of me.
The entire staff is extremely professional, courteous, caring and friendly. I am always greeted with a warm smile when I go there. I know no matter how bad I feel when I go in I will feel much better when I leave.
After not getting any relief for my insomnia for twelve years, I was referred to Wildwood Acupuncture Center by a friend. Nine treatments have helped me become more relaxed and I sleep more soundly each night. When I awaken in the middle of the night, I am able to fall back to sleep and I feel refreshed in the morning as a result.
Dr. Tien is gentle and comforting and enjoys helping you feel your best.
Out of complete and udder desperation, I called Wildwood Acupuncture Center one morning and asked for an emergency appointment. The staff was very accomodating and worked to see me right away.
I've been suffering from panic/anxiety since contracting a super infection during a hospital stay (when I delivered my son). I have tried absolutely everything. Finally, at the end of my rope, I tried acupuncture. I couldn't believe the results after one even one session. I've tried everything...doctors, naturopaths, massage, exercise, diet. This was the only thing that gave me immediate relief. I still need to go in for more sessions because it does return a bit, but my first few visits gave me such great relief. It has been the only thing that restores my sense of calm.
Dr. Ming is wonderful and his staff members are all so nice. He clearly has amazing credentials.
I went to Dr. Tien because he'd been recommend by a trusted family doctor. I go to him for emotional balancing -- basically because OUR culture encourages emotional imbalance, and it's hard to hold out against that kind of thing, esp. when you have kids..... Dr. T said I wouldn't notice any change for 7-10 visits. HOwever, I've felt like a million dollars the next day, after each treatment.
I then tried a different acupuncturist because of insurance issues -- and the difference was like day and night. Suffice it to say that I returned to the WIldwood Center despite the cost (they do offer a small discount to the uninsured, which extends to those of us whose insurance doesn't cover them) and plan to change my insurance to one that they take, effective 2010.
You know you've picked the right acupuncturist when...
...you actually feel excited for them to stick needles in your body and it doesn't really hurt.
...you see their ridiculously awesome credentials framed and hung in exam rooms (framed certificate from President Clinton, letters from NIH, old newspaper articles from Library of Congress, etc.)
...there's a waiting list for appointments
...the waiting room is so crowded, there's no place to sit
...the staff remembers your name everytime you come and are always smiling and friendly
...you actually feel sad that today is your last appointment.

I was referred by yelper, Kim N to Wildwood Acupuncture Center and I'm so thankful I got to talk to her and get her recommendation when I saw her at the Sail Away event back in May.
The Friday I was told I needed surgery, I immediately called and made an appointment at WAC. I had an appointment for Monday. Upon arrival, I filled out some forms and was thankful to see that they did accept insurance. Coverage varies from plan to plan and I'm thankful that my visits were 90% covered but it's still unclear how many visits they've paid for (still waiting for word on that). On the first visit, you can expect to be there for an hour and a half. During this 1hr+ period, you'll have a full evaluation (q+a) and then the acupuncture. You put on a paper gown and lay however instructed. (Me, on my left side facing the wall.)
In general, I'm not afraid of needles...unless I'm watching you stick one in me. Thankfully, since my area of complaint is my back, I never had to watch him put one of the needles in my skin. You might be wandering what it feels like? Well, depending on where the needle goes, I either felt a bit of pressure but no pain, or I didn't feel it at all! Most times, I thought I just heard a flicking-type sound when they were inserted but I didn't feel it. Now, once the needle is in, however, when he pushes it in further or angles it differently - that is an entirely different feeling; sometimes painful, sometimes not. There were times when I felt tingly, felt some kind of something shoot down my leg or across my side.
Dr. Xiao Ming Tian would stick the needles in the appropriate spot based on what the pain was like that day. Some days it hurt down my leg so he'd make sure there was a needle in my back area to address that pain. One day I mentioned I had a headache so he gave me additional needles in my head/neck (which was awesome!).
Once all the needles are in, they need to stay in for 30-45 minutes. A heat lamp hangs over the acupuncture spots and it's nap time. That's right - a doctor sanctioned nap! I found over the last 14 sessions that while I actually slept some of the time, 80% of the the rest of the time I felt like I was in that place between asleep and awake and it was downright relaxing.
When time is up, they come back in the room and take out the needles, you put your clothes back on and you go home and repeat the next day or however many visits Dr. Tian recommends. In my case, it was 15.
I'll be honest, I was really quite skeptical about acupuncture at the beginning. I figured I'd give it a go but had low expectations. Thus far, it hasn't "cured" my back but it has significantly helped with managing the pain. It has also brought my blood pressure down to normal human numbers again so I'm very very pleased about that. (This was a result, apparently, of the placement of one needle in my forearm.) Yea...I'm a believer now!
I've never been more eager to spread the word about a doctor, let alone an acupuncturist but I'm telling you - if you ever considered acupuncture before, come see Dr. Xiao Ming Tian at Wildwood. He is a darling older Chinese man who is extremely intelligent, very kind and truly cares about his patients. (Also, he gave me a Chinese restaurant recommendation in Rockville that I'm excited to check out! Seven Seas.)
