They were good when they first started They have gone downhill substantially. Firstly, the price difference between a Turo car and a rental car is negligible so you have to ask yourself whether you would prefer to drive a 2024 model or a 2013 Corolla with mediocre tires that wasnt entirely sanitized or cleaned properly? You have to ask yourself whether you want top-notch service from a rental car company and face to face counters or a nebulous, mysterious host that texts you back when he feels like it that you never meet. Do you want to do business dealings with a tightly-managed Company with strict controls and set procedures or an app that allows hosts to be on a long leash in terms of the service they provide you and the billing they can extract from you. I have never had a cancellation through a rental car company, but *** had a few through Turo. Hosts can do what they want with their cars. Anytime there was an additional bill for tolls or something else, I received it immediately from the rental car company; within 3 to 7 business days whereas Turo allows hosts to send you an additional bill up to 3 months later lol Laughable. I travel a lot and I am deleting the app. Theres no point for it anymore.
This service causes nothing but headaches. Turo does not vet hosts on an individual level and their basic agreement waives them of any liability for Host practices that are unethical or illegal. Turo will always side with hosts on disputes because it is Turo that collects part of the fees Hosts can submit as charges against Guests, regardless how outrageous the Hosts' claims may be. I actually spoke with Turo customer service regarding one of the two incidents where they behaved unethically. I got a verbal promise (after having to ask ten different ways if they were promising reimbursement before they finally committed) for reimbursement. It never ********** this surprising since their screening process is so loose they are the preferred rental source for terrorists?

Bait and switch for younger drivers. I wanted to rent a fun car for me and my 19-year old to drive. I reserved a BMW M2, and we both applied to be drivers, and we both got approved. Then 20 hours before the rental, they disapproved my son as a driver. By then I couldn't get a full refund. NOWHERE on their website does it say you can't drive if you are under 25. It only says you must be 25 to BOOK a car. The host was no help, just stated company policy. And the support line did the same. Unfortunately, they don't DOCUMENT this policy on their web pages. They took my $150 Turo fee and blamed it on me for "changing my plans." DON'T USE TURO. BAIT AND SWITCH!!!
My first time ever renting a car from Turo and I love the experience. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to rent one and have that experience on having an nice luxury car to ride around in instead of renting one from ordinary renters place. I loved it and I’ll be back again for another car rental.😁
Zero stars. Turo is a disaster, unless everything goes 100% correctly on your trip, which it never does. Once there is an issue that requires the involvement of customer service, you are lost. In my case I am due a refund for $1000 for damages that the host claimed I had done to her vehicle, which Turo then charged to my credit card instead of processing through my insurance as I requested. Later, Turo agreed to work with my insurance company to cover the damage and to give me a refund. But when my insurance company paid Turo, Turo's customer service dragged its feet and made the process of giving me a refund impossible. Three months later I have yet to receive the money back. The customer service **** can't give a straight answer as to why, and the team in charge of claims doesn't respond to the tickets opened by customer service. So it is a circle of requesting updates, Turo customer service opening tickets, and ********************** claims not responding to those tickets, and starting all over again. Other trips I have taken resulted in driving vehicles that always have something wrong with them, reek of smoke when they are supposed to be non-smoking, and overcharges. It is a miserable experience. I will be deleting my account the day I receive my refund, if it ever comes.
Just a horrible TURO experience overall. I rented a car and the host canceled on me 30 minutes after I didnt show up. No communication whatsoever from host and Turo will not refund anything. It seems that the rules are incredibly strict, I paid a lot of money for this reservation. There are no upfront policies that tell you that you have to show up within 30 minutes otherwise the reservation will be canceled with no refund. There was no inconvenience to the host whatsoever. What a scam

We had a terrible experience with this company. They canceled our rental car reservation a month ago for no valid reason, despite us providing all the required documents. In the end, they refused to let us rent a car, completely ruining our Christmas holiday plans. Their lack of professionalism and poor service wasted our time.
I am a host on turo, I have three cars and rent them on a luxury island with great service. Turo does a terrible job supporting its hosts. They recently changed the all star status requirements to make it that if a customer does not rate their trip, it counts the same as if they rated it 0 stars out of 5. This is so pointless and backwards. What am I supposed to do? Harass every guest to leave a review? I already ask guests to do this after the trip. Most do. Some dont and thats their right. I dont leave reviews plenty of times because Im too busy or I just dont care to. Now I lost my all star status tht Ive had for years because of this, which costs me serious money. Will be looking for other car sharing platforms to host on/ just doing it myself.
Beware of Turo - horrible, horrible management! I have had the last three trips IN A ROW that I attempted to book with Turo, cancelled the DAY BEFORE I was supposed to travel. There is no accountability and no way to even leave a review to warn people of the bad hosts. Everyone has a 5 star rating and it's curious where they're getting those reviews when you can't leave them as a consumer. It leaves you out of luck and scrambling in a mad dash to pay premium prices for a last minute rental from a big box car company. Not worth the $50 savings. At least with the big companies, I know I can count on them to deliver a car on the day of my trip! I realize that these were 3 different people, and maybe I got unlucky 3 times with 3 bad hosts, but clearly, if it's so easy to cancel on a booked trip the day before the trip, Turo is not providing any sort of management on these hosts. One of the hosts told me that the previous rental guest wanted to extend the rental dates, so he decided to just bump me to a different car. Then he found out that other car was already booked as well, so I was basically out of luck. Another host just cancelled 2 days before the trip with no explanation and no response. What a mess. Call me a fool for even giving them 2 more chances after the first fiasco. I've learned my lesson. Never again will I book with Turo.
I originally rented a 2023 Tesla model y for $607 total. Arrived 30 minutes early, when 12:30pm came to get vehicle. I get a message from turns the model Y I was siting in my wifes car right next to is not available the customer has not brought it back. They first offered to trade for 2022 model 3. I said No and waited 30 minutes with no response. Eventually called turos and agreed to vehicle trade and was able to get the less valuable vehicle lol got screwd pretty much..

Turo Car Rental Review A Platform That Leaves You Stranded I wanted to love Turo. The idea of renting a unique car directly from someone seemed like a great alternative to the hassle of traditional rental companies. Unfortunately, the platform itselfnot the hostsis where everything falls apart.1. Customer Support is a Joke *********************** representatives are hands-down the worst part of the experience. If something goes wrong, dont expect timely or helpful assistance. I had an issue where the host was fantastic, but Turos team dragged their feet for days when I needed a simple answer. Theyre quick to charge fees but slow to offer solutions.2. Unfair Cancellations and No Accountability Hosts do their best, but if a host cancels last minute, Turo offers no real backup. Their idea of help is sending a generic email saying, Sorry, try again! Theres no effort to rebook you, no compensation for the inconveniencejust a shrug from their reps.3. Fee Overload Turos fees are ridiculous. What starts as an affordable rental quickly balloons with trip fees, vague service fees, and overpriced insurance. By the time you finalize everything, youre often paying the same (or more) than a standard rental car. And guess what? If theres an issue, Turo pockets those fees while leaving you to handle it.4. Claims Process Designed to Frustrate Heaven forbid you need to file a claim. Even if you meticulously document everything, Turos team will make you jump through hoops. I had a minor issue, and their claims process was like trying to solve a ****** with no answer. They are slow to respond and quick to blame the renter.5. Platform First, Customers Last ********************** is great when everything goes smoothly, but the moment you need help, their priorities are clear: protect the platform, not the customer. Hosts often go above and beyond, but Turos lack of support ruins the entire experience.
Turo is absolutely terrible to deal with. We had booked a vehicle (2022 Corvette) about 2 months in advance for a trip to ***** we were taking. Everything was setup, all our info had been provided as requested, and the payment ($1980.00 CAD) was taken 7 days before our trip. We had a pickup time set for 12:30 on December 11 - when we arrived at the airport in *****. This was for my spouses birthday, and we were both very excited. We got to the airport, and literally 10 minutes before we were supposed to pickup the vehicle, we received notification that the trip was cancelled. No information as to why. We messaged the host (****) who stated that the vehicle was returned with a flat tire, however he had a similar car available in another color. We confirmed this was no problem and requested instructions to pickup the vehicle. **** confirmed he would meet us at the designated pickup spot once the vehicle was washed. We followed instructions, got onto a shuttle to the parking area (10 min from airport) and proceeded to wait in the parking area for **** and the replacement vehicle to show up. At first **** was responsive stating he would see us soon. Then after about an hour and a half, still no vehicle, and **** became unresponsive. We waited 2 hours, and no one showed up. We then called and spoke to Turo help who was not really any help at all.... They stated that they couldn't change the vehicle on their end and would be refunding us the full amount within 5 days. As you can imagine we were quite frustrated, now having waited in a parking lot for 2 hours, and also waiting on a large refund, which wouldn't actually be received on our end until our trip was over. This made it more difficult to rent another vehicle during our stay. This was a terrible start to our trip, and completely messed up our plans.... My spouse was quite upset about not having the rental that we were promised. I would not recommend Turo for anything. Cancelling 10 min before pickup is terrible.
Turo mishandled a damage claim against me by allowing a host to submit inflated charges, reopen a closed claim, and engage in harassment. Despite clear evidence of host misconduct, Turo continues to pursue an unjust charge of $450.42, which is inconsistent with the host’s original quote. I rented a vehicle through Turo, and upon returning it, I was notified by the host of damage to a tire. The host initially quoted me $135 via text for a “simple fix.” However, the damage claim filed with Turo included an inflated charge of $425.42, and the final invoice presented by Turo showed an even higher amount of $450.42. The evidence submitted by the host shows damage that occurred after I returned the vehicle. The photos were taken after the car had been moved from the spot where I left it. This indicates the damage was not my responsibility. The host harassed me via text messages, demanding I pay for the damages outside of the Turo platform. In an attempt to resolve the matter, I agreed to settle off-platform, and the claim was subsequently closed. Despite this, Turo reopened the claim days later without justification. The original quote was $135, but the official claim submitted to Turo was for $425.42, and the final invoice was $450.42. These discrepancies raise serious concerns about the accuracy and integrity of the claims process. Host Misconduct: The host’s behavior, including harassment and inflating damage costs, violates Turo’s policies. I have reported this misconduct, yet Turo continues to pursue payment without properly addressing these issues. I request that Turo drop the $450.42 damage claim due to the evidence of incorrect charges and timing discrepancies. Also Turo should investigate the host’s behavior and consider removing them from the platform for harassment and manipulation of the claims process. They need to improve their handling of damage claims and ensure fair treatment for guests, particularly when there is evidence of host misconduct.
My host was nice but the taxes and fees cost me an additional 50%! My quote was $200 and it ended up costing more than $300. In reality, I don’t think it was much of a savings compared to traditional car rental companies. Plus an additional $12 for parking at the airport (not disclosed until I arrived), plus fuel (expected). Further, my parking ticket wouldn’t read when I tried to exit the parking lot (possible gimmick). Just not quite the experience I was hoping for. Wouldn’t recommend using this company in the future.

Tried it one time, never again. Absolutely terrible. Had to pay $25 to get out of the airport, then the host sent rude, passive-aggressive messages about the newness of the car the entire time. I was turned off from the whole experience but didn't want to leave a one-star review, as that's not my style. The host proceeded to email, message, and call me over and over again to leave a review. It was honestly unsettling. I'll be sticking to the big car rental companies from now on.
Worst experience Ive ever had. ************************ tried to give me dirty car seats for my kids and expected me to be ok with that. He was rude and unprofessional. I have booked with Turo before and didnt have any problem. I was in communication with **** from the time I booked through Turo till the time we got to the car park. He assured me that the car seats were well taken car of and that they cleaned them after each use. He forgot to clean the car seats and instead of admitting he was wrong he tried to pretend like someone took the wrong car with our car seats. He then took me to a shed that carried the extra car seats he had that were all infested with mice and rat p*** It was simply disgusting and clearly false advertising. He cancelled my reservation so I wasnt able to leave a review. This took 3 hours out of our trip because we had to the take a shuttle back to the airport to get a car rental with a reputable company. For this reason I would never use Turo again because there is no regulation or assurance that the person renting to you is doing things correctly.
I am currently on hold with Turo **** after renting and paying, I was told by the host, the car wouldnt be available. None of their vehicles would be available. When I tried to make another reservation (after being told by Turo App that my charge would be advanced to the next host) my reservation did not confirm. Instead, I was being charged ANOTHER $145. At this current point I feel as if I have been scammed out of my money. And now, im on hold, waiting to hear where I can send my complaint to. I planned our trip (My kids and I) and this has made a HUGE inconvenience for me and my children. Visiting family and friends is a big deal for us, and Turo, just ruined that for myself and children. On hold for ***** minutes. Was given a credit, but thats not helping ANYTHING for me at current time. I couldnt be MORE angered or discouraged. Major ball to be dropped by Turo.
