THE WORST EXPERIENCE!
We had flight from Zanzibar to Athens with stop in Istanbul with Turkish airlines In the connection flight we was on time but they say to us that the plain left... So they book us another flight after 5 hours The problem was we had connection flight from Athens to Crete and we lost it and we payed 250 euros again! They didn't say even sorry they was very rude and arrogant in the desk! They just give me a voucher for a burger And they say that i must fill up a complain formula if i want to take a refund for the flight The worst experience ever! NEVER AGAIN WITH THIS AIRLINES
Great experience as always! Best Airline in Europe!
There is no better way to fly... - but it is not Lufthansa. Turkish has far better product, hardware and service. Again I had absolutely nothing to complain about this airline. The staff was attentive and absolutely friendly, keen and helpful. The service was perfect. The dishes served at Lounge in Istanbul but also in the sky were very delicious and cooked all to perfection. The Turkish cuisine a must! Loved it so much and will be back for sure again.

Lost baggage
I am posting this because at this point silence feels like enabling incompetence. My husband flew Turkish Airlines internationally on December 4. His bag never arrived. What followed has been over two weeks of complete dysfunction, indifference, and a total lack of accountability from an airline that markets itself as world class. He was told hours after landing that his bag was still in Istanbul. No notice. No explanation. He was handed a form written in pencil, told to photograph it, and sent on his way. That form meant nothing. No claim was ever filed. Days later he was told he had to open the case himself. Since then he has complied with every request. Detailed inventory. Prices. Follow ups. Endless phone calls. Long hold times. Scripted apologies. No updates. No supervisor. No escalation. Nothing. Only after he publicly shared his experience did Turkish Airlines suddenly reach out. And even then it amounted to nothing. Fifteen days later they are still asking basic questions like what color the bag is and asking for photos, as if no one has been working on this at all. This is not about money. Some items in that bag are personal and cannot be replaced. This is about responsibility. This is about an airline losing someone’s belongings and then acting as if it is not their problem. This was Business Class with priority baggage. If this is how Turkish Airlines treats customers who pay a premium, as much as 3 -4 times economy, I can only imagine how the treat their economy travelers... At this point it feels like once your bag is lost, you are on your own. No urgency. No ownership. No care. Fly at your own risk. If Turkish Airlines loses your bag, do not expect help, communication, or accountability. I hope this gets resolved. But more than that, I hope people see this before trusting this airline with anything they cannot afford to lose.
Don't trust them with assistance or with hearing your complaints
I had two minors (12 and 13) years old travelling with assistance on Turkish Airlines. They were left by themselves upon arrival in Lisbon, where the flight landed 30 minutes earlier. I found them by themselves outside the airport. When complaining to the airline company, as the return flight is also with Turkish Airlines, they failed to acknowledge any wrong doing. Absolute irresponsibility!
The most irresponsible airline I have ever dealt with.
The most irresponsible airline I have ever dealt with. After baggage delivery, our baby stroller was returned completely broken and unusable. We were forced to throw it away on the spot. Traveling without a stroller with a young child ruined our entire trip and caused significant stress for our family. I immediately filed a damage report at the airport. However, when I submitted a claim, Turkish Airlines requested an excessive and unreasonable amount of documentation—clearly designed to discourage passengers from pursuing compensation. Why should I be expected to keep a bank receipt for a stroller I purchased three years ago? This is not customer service; it is avoidance of responsibility. Extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience.

The flight from Hell
This story starts with Turkish Airlines cancelling our flight on November 9th. which meant we had to pay for an overnight hotel stay in Istanbul. Since our flight was canceled, so was our seating. This ended up costing $320 EXTRA to sit one row in front of where we were in the first place. Then an unexpected second piece of luggage charge, which their website said would be an additional $100. They actually charged $165. for the second piece of checked luggage. Next came the approved wheelchair request done months in advance. A two and one half hour wait (I almost missed the plane) which was explained as "We only have two assigned wheelchairs for all USA passengers." We finally boarded the Airbus A-350 expecting an enjoyable flight in our "preferred" seats which cost an additional $320. The seat pitch and the legroom was the worst I have experienced, even though I fly four or five times a month on other airlines. This was followed by food that was borderline edible and non existing service by the flight attendants. Do yourself a favor and choose a different airline. JRB 3RD
Terrible
Denied boarding with zero assistance – disgraceful handling On 15.12.2025, I was denied boarding on Turkish Airlines flight TK340 at Istanbul Airport despite being fully checked in and already airside. I arrived at the gate approximately 5 minutes after closure, having briefly gone to the restroom. What followed was shocking. No announcements were made, and I was told Istanbul Airport is a “silent airport.” This explanation does not hold up: while waiting, I clearly heard other airlines actively announcing passengers and making efforts to complete boarding. Even worse was the total lack of customer care afterward. No attempt to rebook me, no standby option, no goodwill solution — nothing. I was forced to buy a completely new ticket at my own expense and wait around 10 hours for the next flight. I understand gate-closure rules. What I do not accept is the absence of any basic assistance, flexibility, or empathy for a passenger who was already airside and only minutes late. This experience was exhausting, expensive, and deeply disappointing. This is not the level of service one expects from a so-called flag carrier.
Never again
So far, this has been the worst flight of my life. The cabin crew were extremely chaotic, unfriendly, and unable to properly organize basic processes. It all started with their inability to manage carry-on luggage in the overhead bins, which led to conflicts among passengers. Later, I was asked to remove my neck pillow during takeoff, while the passenger sitting right next to me continued using theirs without any issue. For some reason, this rule applied only to me. We were then given towels for hand disinfection. They were hot and completely dry. My headphones were not working, and I asked a flight attendant to bring me a replacement, but she never did for the entire duration of the flight. In general, the cabin crew were very unhelpful. They avoided eye contact and never asked if anyone needed assistance. Even if you stood nearby for several minutes, clearly waiting for attention, they simply continued with their tasks and ignored you. I was seated in row 24, and there was no chicken meal left by the time they reached us. That means half of the aircraft had not even been served when the food was already gone. The remaining meal option was cold. I was also not allowed to place an inflatable footrest under my feet. A flight attendant rushed over to me as if I were committing a serious violation and ordered me to deflate it immediately. I wish they reacted to passengers’ requests with the same speed. These were the two worst flight experiences I have ever had, and both were with your airline. From this day on, I will avoid purchasing tickets with your airline.

Worst ever
Most of them were unfriendly, unhelpful, and rude. Our flight was delayed multiple times. The Jeddah flight was scheduled for 20:20 but we only boarded at 2:30. The second flight from Madinah to Istanbul was delayed by 2 hours, and the return flight from Istanbul back home was delayed by over an hour. I would not recommend booking Turkish Airlines.
Dystopian Hell
Excited to be going out to Thailand and then on to meet our son and his partner who live in Vietnam for Christmas, my wife Rosa and I checked in at Barcelona for Bangkok via Istanbul without any inkling of what lay in store for us. All went well till we were at the boarding gate in Istanbul. There I was stopped as the inside page of my UK passport had become slightly detached by about 3cm along the spine. I was told I could not travel as my passport was illegal in Thailand. When we objected the Turkish airline staff made a show of making a call which they said was to Thai immigration in Bangkok. They repeated I could not travel. When Rosa got upset they threatened to take us to the police station as I was travelling illegally. Memories of Midnight Express loomed. Rosa could travel alone but did not want to leave me stranded in Instanbul airport. It felt like I was Tom Hanks in ‘The Terminal’, when he is trapped stateless in the dystopian hell of an airport. With an ‘illegal passport’ I could not leave the airport. We were told to go back to the ticket desk and they would rebook us back to Barcelona. The Turkish Airlines sales staff there were not very helpful or sympathetic and told us that on our tickets that cost Euro2,796 each we would get a refund of Euro100 and we would have to buy a new ticket to Barcelona that cost a further Euro350. We were sent in the direction of a pod type hotel and after wandering through the deserted airport, which really is vast, for an hour we found it to be fully booked. At 3 am we settled in chairs for the night and when I looked at my Apple Watch we had walked 12km that day through endless airport halls bearing heavy hand luggage. On reflection, I realise that I was bumped to make space for someone else. There was a well-dressed man standing to the side of the business lane at the boarding gate. He did not join the queue when we were called but stood there waiting expectantly. After I had been stopped, I noticed he had suddenly gone. He had got my seat! Either the flight was over—booked, or he was ‘someone’ and been promised an upgrade to business. We had pre-paid all our hotels in South-East Asia not to mention regional flights. All in we have lost about Euro7,000. I have little hope of compensation and doubt that our travel insurance will cover this as no doubt the fault was mine in having not checked my passport. A little dab of Pritt has now fixed it!
Shame on Turkish Airlines
One world worse nation on this planet. Unable to provide wheel chair at Istanbul Airport even we have booked it. On way back have to buy new tickets as originally bought tickets not showing in system. Shame on you turkish airline. Will never ever travel on this airline.

I booked with them flight to Thailand because they had only one hour layover in Istanbul , they changed it twice so I have to wait for my next flight 5 hours in Istanbul Dropping bags in Gatwick airport was absolutely a nightmare taking ages , people on the desks extremely slow it took us over 1.20 minutes when there were not many people in front of us On the flight when they started running service first information no chicken and second only beer and wine even I said I am ok to pay extra for different alko they say no . First time with them And last time , felt like flying with one of the cheapest airlines
Very bad employee in frontdesk
The experience was extremely poor and deeply upsetting on a human level. Even the staff and supervisors in Washington (Dulles) showed no compassion. An 85-year-old woman who was unable to walk was not helped with carrying a small bag onto the aircraft. Instead, they insisted on charging her $190 for it, despite her 2 bags weighing less than 35 pounds. She was given a wheelchair only to be pulled to the plane, yet she was forced to carry the bag on her legs and knees. She was traveling in Business Class.
