Avoid James Medows at all costs. I hired him to handle two old traffic tickets — one of which had a strong, clear defense. Rather than actually fighting the charges, he relied solely on flimsy technicalities in the officer’s statement and made no real effort to build a defense.
When I asked questions, he was rude, dismissive, and arrogant. At one point, he even said, “I delayed the insurance impact for you for 5 years — isn’t that enough?” No, it’s not. I hired him to fight the tickets, not just delay the consequences. He failed to do that.
The result? 6 points on my license, over $600 in fines, higher insurance premiums, and no accountability from him. He also incorrectly claimed, “There are no plea bargains — it’s all or nothing,” which is simply not true. These were two separate tickets, and any competent attorney would have handled them individually and at least tried to get one dismissed.
I consulted another traffic attorney about a possible appeal. He was already familiar with Mr. Medows — and not in a good way. He confirmed that my concerns were valid and agreed that a more competent attorney could’ve achieved a far better outcome.
In the end, I got no results, no real strategy, and no respect. I felt completely misled and abandoned. Do yourself a favor: hire someone who actually fights for their clients. James Medows did not.

RUBBISH! I delayed this individual's tickets for five years and did my best. New York City does not plea bargain, the client understood the risks, the client verbally agreed to this, signed a retainer agreement and if you look at my thousand plus Google reviews, you will see that the only negativity that seems legitimate are by clients who are sore.
I prefer to win all of my tickets, but I can't win all of my tickets. I do win the majority of my tickets and I personally cover via Webex and do not outsource like my competitors. My reputation is top-notch, so the line about incompetency is without merit!
Please note, this person's insurance company did not spike for five years. All I could do is my best but this person received two tickets at the same time, NYC doesn't plea bargain and the judge found that each ticket was an isolated violation. NOT A LEGITIMATE ONE STAR!
Finally, if you are reading this, please look past this negativity and you will see that I have lots of positive reviews before this review and after this review, so please don't be swayed by one disgruntled client who is not appreciative that I saved her money for the past five years!

This lawyer is a complete joke. He snatches all the money for himself while the rest of us my brother and I are stuck doing the real work. He doesn’t do anything but sit on his couch, collect his paycheck, and leave us to grind it out in the office. It’s beyond frustrating. We’re the ones actually handling the cases, dealing with the clients, and putting in the hours, while he gets to sit back and take all the credit and all the money.
To make things worse, he pays us less than we deserve for all the work we put in. He’s basically taking advantage of everyone while doing the bare minimum. I’ve had enough of it. We work all day and he doesn’t lift a finger, and yet he’s the one making all the money. It’s insulting.
I won’t be recommending him to anyone. Honestly, if he could even see this review, I would’ve blocked him long ago because he doesn't deserve a second of my time. If you're looking for someone who actually works for their paycheck, do yourself a favor and stay far away from this guy i am warning you guys, the reviews are most likely bots be aware.❤️😩
