Kindergarten
The Kindergarten program has been the perfect foundation for my son. Many of the core pieces that were a challenge to do at home, Mrs Hammond could easily tackle with my son. This was my goal achieved. The program has been very thorough in quickly developing fine motor skills, pencil grip, writing, coloring in the lines, letter pronunciations, numbers/math, graphing, reading and site words, art, learning about seasons, holidays, community workers, how to interact with classmates, ASL and so much more. This was achieved in a truly loving and nurturing environment but with healthy structure. This was my son's first school-setting and he adapted incredibly fast. He truly loves his time at school and surprises me each time with new information he's learnt with Mrs. Hammond.
My daughter is in Kathy Hammond’s kindergarten class and she absolutely loves it. She’s always excited to go and sad to leave. Since September, she’s made a lot of progress in counting, drawing, and the alphabet. Besides academics, they also work on social/emotional development and motor skills. Kathy is very kind and nurturing, as well as flexible and generous.
Thrive has been such a blessing to our family! When we started homeschooling two years ago I was lost and overwhelmed. It was such a relief to find these classes my daughter could take once a week and spend the rest of the week with me to work on assigned material. I was not as confident teaching a few subjects so working with the teachers at Thrive on teaching these subjects to my daughter was exactly what we needed. The teachers are wonderful and Rana is fantastic at keeping everything working smoothly. I highly recommend Thrive!
My boys love their classes at Thrive and come home excited to share what they have learned. We love the pick and choose style for classes. At the end of each week we talk and my kids have a hard time choosing which class was their favorite because they are all so terrific. Their teachers have been wonderful. Thrive is such a huge blessing for our family to be part of this community!
My daughter has attended 4-6th grades and will return for 7th. She looks forward to her classes every Tuesday. She has taken public speaking, IEW writing and Spanish each year among other classes and I have watched her confidence and aptitude soar. She has learned how to manage her time and workload which has been tremendous for her confidence and personal growth. For homeschooling to be successful and joyful for us, we need to have outside of the home enrichment and expectations from someone not called Mom. Thrive has the perfect balance of structure and expectations to keep our student familiar with tests, homework, long term projects and deadlines without the needless busy work and stress of a typical classroom. I am appreciative of the excellent and experienced teachers who know their subjects as well as how to manage a classroom. They show kindness and patience and my daughter enjoys all of her teachers. Thrive has an expectation of decency and decorum that eliminates the behavioral issues seen at the local schools and yet you won’t find a crabby adult patrolling the grounds looking to punish. My child always feels welcome and supported. We are so grateful for this amazing resource!
