Nice stay at the View Padang
☺ We stayed at The View Padang for one night after a long flight and had a wonderful experience. The place really lives up to its name — the view is amazing! The owner was incredibly friendly and even helped us book our ferry tickets to the Mentawai Islands. Everyone working at the hotel was so kind and welcoming — they picked us up from the airport and made us feel right at home. We had lots of fun with them and truly appreciated their warm hospitality. Highly recommended!

Fairly pleasant but did not meet our expectations
☺ - Friendly staff on site

- Incredible view from the communal area
- The queen room with balcony which we upgraded to the second night was much better with beautiful view from the balcony
- Lots of useful services such as ability to rent motorbike from hostel, booking ferry tickets to Mentawai islands, taxi service into town (although the taxi service was excessively expensive!!! We were told it would cost 50k rupiah one way to town and shared the car with another group of 3 tourists (so 10k per person), however both groups were charged 50k so taxi = 100k!!). After that we used grab taxi service and paid around 30k each time.
☹ - We were a little disappointed as we had read amazing reviews about the view re: helpfulness of staff in terms of getting information about activities Padang and onward travel however unfortunately Robert the owner was on holiday in Europe when we stayed so we had to liaise with him via WhatsApp rather than face to face contact which we really dislike (although has been the norm throughout our trip in Sumatra). The staff on site were unable to offer any advice and advised us to text Robert whenever we needed anything. Robert did send us a very detailed and helpful text message with information but we missed the face to face interaction.
- The shared bathroom was dirty and there were ants all over the sink constantly
- The whole place feels a little run down and was generally a little dirty
- Our first bedroom did not have any windows
- We upgraded to a better room for our second night however it was not clean and ready for us to use until 6pm (despite us being the only guests in the hotel that day and the previous occupants checking out at 6am!)
- We used the hostel laundry service however the laundry was not put on until the evening before we left and so was still damp when we got it back (even though we had given them our clothes over 24 hours before that and the weather had been beautiful all day!)
- Breakfast was not great
Overall it was a fairly pleasant stay and staff were really friendly and genuinely appeared to want to spend time chatting with us which was really nice, however, we felt that our experience did not match what we had read in previous reviews which was disappointing.

☺ La vue est sympa mais nous sommes loin de tout.
☹ Nous avions pris une chambre avec une sdb privative finalement nous la partagions avec d'autres.
Et pour la chambre aucune évacuation d'air, seulement une climatisation mais 0 vmc donc une odeur de champignons etait très présente à cause de l'humidité.
Nous ne recommandons pas.

A bit expensive for what the accomodation is.
☺ Staff really friendly, robert sort me out with trasnport and ferry (which was great) and the view is great!
☹ The toilets very dirty, they don't provide soap (I asked for one). The Matress was really bad and sheets were stained. The english of the staff is very very limited although they are great guys.
Breakfast is more than basic, just toast with a bit of eggs.

☺ Pobyt w the view Padang był bardzo dobrym pomysłem! Robert okazał się niezwykle pomocnym gospodarzem – dał nam wiele cennych rad i kontaktów, a także pomógł zorganizować transport do kolejnego miejsca. Dzięki temu nasza podróż była o wiele łatwiejsza i przyjemniejsza. Pokoje były czyste i wygodne, a łazienki zadbane i dobrze utrzymane.
Piękny widok z tarasu na ocean. Zdecydowanie polecam to miejsce każdemu, kto szuka przyjaznej atmosfery i wsparcia podczas podróży.

Perfect stay before going to the Mentawais
☺ Basic room, but comfy beds. Our bathroom was across the floor. sadly our room had no window, cause the view is great.
Robert and his staff are most helpful, we can really recommend to stay here. Breakfast is simple but ok, if you only stay a few days. There are amazing jungles walks nearby.
The hotel can arrange anything, from airport pick up, to ferry tickets. Best place to stay before going to the Mentawais

Good clean comfortable room with access to water and tea and coffee in shared area.
☹ Although you were able to walk into the village to eat or pick up basic supplies, Padang itself was a taxi ride in.
