If you want adventure, natural beauty and a magical jungle experience this is the place!
This place is jungle magic! It’s such a gem and tucked away and secluded in the best possible way. Alex & Zanna are fantastic and our support for our retreat was an incredible gift for ourselves and our attendees. They welcomed us and made us feel Like family! And their love and passion for all things yoga, healing and the jungle are part of the beauty that is this place and this experience. This location is equal parts adventure, nature and magic. We will be making a return next year!
This is not your typical retreat location! It is truly remote, in the best way. I spent one week here and it felt like a month because of how truly immersed you are in the jungle. The current sanctuary managers, Zana and Alex, are masters at the craft. They exceptionally curated the opportunity to live slowly, honor the jungle, and practice yoga, Reiki, and new traditions. While much of what they do goes unseen, I was grateful for the attention to small details (table decor, food presentation, daily check ins and thoughtful eye contact, clean quarters and accommodating our daily excursion desires) and so much more. Bring bug spray and get ready for some epic rain storms if you're coming in the rainy season. Get ready for the jungle to change your life!
Jungle Love!!
We went to the Sanctuary for a wellness retreat but I think the Jungle healed me just as much as the yoga and spiritual sessions. When we arrived, we were met at the top of the path by Zanna and Alex who became what we called Jungle Fairies. They loaded our bags in a ATU as we made the 25 minute walk, crossing the river three times...water shoes are mandatory. Though, it was dry season so you could manage to cross without getting too wet. It's a peaceful walk along the river where you will see monkeys, birds and butterflies. This is the only way in and out. When we arrived our bags were already in our treehouse (delivery Fairies). The accommodations were nothing like I have ever experienced. We became one with the jungle, with floor to ceiling screen walls on two sides and our beds on the second floor loft looking out at the trees. The outdoor shower was amazing and there was plenty of counter space for three women to put all our stuff on. The best part was our treehouse was completely off the grid, no wifi and solar. We were called to lunch by the blowing of a conch shell. This occurred for all meals which were communal. Our meals were vegetarian and it was the best I have ever had and that's saying a lot since I'm vegetarian. Zanna, Alex, Lorine and Chris provided delicious and beautiful food, we felt so nourished after every meal (gastronomy Fairies). It seamed the monkeys has the same lunch time and we could see them eating in a palm tree near by as we ate. In the communal area there is wifi but when everyone is on it at the same time it gets slow. So after a couple days I surrendered and embraced being off the grid. You can see one of the waterfalls from this area as you sip tea or coffee. There is so much to explore on this property. You can hike up to a platform where you are above the tree tops look out at the ocean in the distance, so peaceful. You can hike to the waterfalls and take a dip. Or just explore the lush grounds. The pool area is peaceful with plenty of lounge chairs, cabanas, sitting areas with a gorgeous pool. We saw monkeys in the trees everyday there. There are also two massage rooms on the property that are private but open aired so you hear the jungle noises which enhances the experience. Zanna and Alex provide Reiki, cupping and massages, a must do (healing Fairies). The yoga pavilion is transforming. It is open aired and surrounded by trees. Doing yoga here every morning and spiritual sessions every night nurtured my soul. We did do some excursions in Montezuma which you guessed it Zanna arrange for us (scheduling Fairies). We went zip lining, did a chocolate tour and shopped in town. After a week here I felt relaxed, rejuvenated and at peace. We will definitely do this again next year. Thank you Zanna, Alex, Chris and Lorine for being such loving, joyful and beautiful humans<3
A truly transformational experience at The Sanctuary in Costa Rica. I can only describe this as a magical environment. Nourishing food, rejuvenating activities, all wonderfully curated by hosts Zanna and Alex. A priceless experience. Don’t look any further, this is the only retreat you'll ever need. If you’re reading this message just book it already! ❤️❤️❤️
What an amazing place!!! As well as the retreat space being completely peaceful, far up in the jungle, one of the highlights was walking through the river 4 times to get to it! Parking is secure, so you can relax about leaving your car, and the experience of walking in and walking out, is the processing time, the feeling of total immersion. It gives you a sense of going deep, as you walk towards it, and then a rebirth, and you come out transformed by your experience! It also gives you time to communicate freely with your fellow participants and meet your facilitator properly. A truly beautiful adventure. 💗🙏🏽💗
Nestled in a beautiful space past the intersection of rivers, The Sanctuary is the perfect place to get a heavy dose of nature. Surrounded my so many different plant species, each breath feels like a little gift for your lungs. The accommodations are beautiful (I will dream of those outdoor showers forever), mesh wall-to-wall windows invite air in at all times. Really beautiful.
These people literally saved my life, and they took care of me. From the lovely manager, to the guy who guided me along the way and cared about me, to the lovely Susan who helped me and introduced me to these beautiful people. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm indebted. PS The boy lost in the river.
If like me you were researching many hours on the place in which to complete your Yoga training or perhaps do a retreat; then stop looking.
You have found the right place and can now cut out many more hours of research.
The Sanctuary, as the name speaks for itself, is a safe and beautiful environment to let your soul dance and roam free.
Waking up absorbed in the nature to the sounds of the jungle, waterfalls, howler monkeys (not always a welcome sound so early in the morning!).
Food by Naga and his wonderful team at Gaia Gourmet Cuisine will nourish you completely, and you can eat well knowing everything is locally sourced and unprocessed!
The skylab is as impressive and peaceful as it looks on the photos, a breathtaking and panoramic view of the jungle and ocean in the distance. I spent most of my time up here reflecting, relaxing and reading - my favourite spot!
Enjoy your time at The Sanctuary!
The Sanctuary at Two Rivers is perfectly named to represent this magical piece of paradise on Earth, hosted by a lovely family.
Truly a Sanctuary, I have never felt as safe and secure in my physical, emotional, and spiritual sense of being as I have at The Sanctuary.
I had the privilege of attending a week long retreat here, and everything from the grounds, to the Gaia Gourmet kitchen staff and food, was exquisite and beyond expectation. Special shout out to the local Costa Rican families that work to maintain The Sanctuary.
Whether you are considering attending The Sanctuary for a retreat, for Lakshmi Rising YTT, or to work-trade at Gaia Gourmet for any amount of time, I cannot recommend saying YES enough.
The three weeks I spent at The Sanctuary in Costa Rica were three of the best weeks of my life. It is truly a spiritual place where you grow on and off the mat. My body felt a difference in the high quality of water and air within a few days. It was absolutely magical waking up with the jungle - best alarm clock I've ever experienced! I left rejuvenated and energized, and already planning my next visit.
This place is magical. The energy is rich and vibrant and the casitas we stayed at were well managed, maintained, and very clean. They have trustworthy and friendly staff to assist with any needs. The landscape and the property itself is magnificent, the place could not be better picked for a yoga/wellness sanctuary. The monkeys are loud though!
This is one of THE most magical places I have ever been. Every time I visit the sanctuary for a retreat or training, I leave feeling so inspired and motivated. Every aspect of this place is incredible and I'm constantly recommended The Sanctuary at Two Rivers to all of my friends. Definitely a must-visit! :) Thank you for every wonderful experience you have provided me with!
The sanctuary is a beautiful and unique place. You get a feeling of beeing alone on the planet. The environment is peaceful and harmonic. I had an amazing time there while I was doing my YTT RYT 200. I can highly recommend the YTT with the Lakshmi Rising Yoga School and The Sanctuary. I loved all of it. 🌈
