The Pastry Box is everything I love about New York City wrapped into one incredible bakery. Every pastry is thoughtfully crafted, beautifully executed, and absolutely delicious. Whether you’re indulging in one of their signature cookies, brownies, or seasonal creations, you can taste the passion, expertise, and creativity in every bite. Chef Tiara Bennett has created something truly special—a bakery that feels both elevated and welcoming. (The Pastry Box)
What makes The Pastry Box even more extraordinary is the story behind it. As a Black woman-owned business built from a pandemic-era sidewalk operation into a beloved East Village bakery, it stands as a testament to the innovation, resilience, and excellence that Black women bring to entrepreneurship every day. Chef Bennett’s success isn’t just inspiring—it’s a reminder of how much our communities benefit when Black women are supported, celebrated, and given space to thrive. (The Pastry Box)
Supporting The Pastry Box means supporting exceptional talent, intentional craftsmanship, and a business that is making a meaningful impact in New York City. This is the kind of place you tell your friends about, return to often, and proudly champion. NYC is lucky to have it.
It’s getting a 1 star and going out of the way here because the black and white cookie is NO WHERE NEAR some black and white cookies I’ve had wrapped in plastic sold and deli’s. I’m not exaggerating. They go out of their way to say how good it is but in reality it is over the top sweet to the point it’s gross. Do better or take down the sign about how good it is.
With such a delicious lineup, honestly, you can’t miss. The cinnamon roll, black and white cookie, brownie…every bite hits. Seating is limited, but it won’t matter because you’ll be done before you even realize it. Pretty sure they even sell milk to go with whatever you get which should be everything!
I was really excited to try this place after seeing the reviews and social media posts but the pastries were disappointing. Perhaps it was an off day but the cinnamon bun was tiny and gluey, I threw most of it out. The chocolate chip cookies were fine but nothing special, not a ton of chocolate and stodgy. The black and white cookie was the best of the bunch but again, not worth going out of the way for.
Drove all the way from New Jersey because I saw a video of the coconut cake and it absolutely did not disappoint! Also got a quarter pound chocolate cookie everything here was fire!
Also not only is it a small business, it is a woman own business and that is something to be said, the women are killing it right now!
This might be one of my favorite bakeries in town!
The quarter pound chocolate chip cookie was big and chewy, not hard or overly crispy like many others I’ve tried. It was perfectly salted and tasted like a good mix of quality chocolate and buttery goodness.
The black and white cookie was also really good. I haven’t tried a lot of black and white cookies in the past but this definitely set the bar.
The cinnamon roll was soft, gooey, and amazing but a little pricey for a small portion.
Overall, I couldn’t recommend this place enough.
The Pastry Box is a delightful spot for fresh, beautifully made pastries that feel both classic and a little elevated. Everything tastes thoughtfully crafted, with balanced sweetness and great texture. It’s perfect for a quick treat or a relaxed coffee break. Simple, charming, and consistently satisfying.
