It's been several years since I ate here, when it served good but pretty standard English pub food. It's changed hands in the last year or so and I have to say that the quality of the food has been transformed. I should add that the pub has (and has always had) a lovely ambience, being a 17 century listed inn.
Our small team ate from the Christmas menu and the food was nothing short of outstanding. *All* of the dishes were superb, being traditional with a modern twist - the only disappointment expressed was that some people had chosen not to have dessert; apparently the pumpkin and gingerbread crumbed cheesecake was amazing.
I'm going back with wife and darling daughter, each of whom are pretty fussy; that's how good this pub is. This is definitely one of the best gastropubs in Bucks/Beds (including The Dolphin in Stoke Hammond, the Black Boy in Oving, and Betsey Wynne in Swanbourne).

Very good lunch. Downside was card machine failed to work and I struggled to find cash. Had to beg borrow and steel, from, luckily enough, customers I knew, but got there. Also squawking children with non disciplinary!!!!! parents were not conducive to an otherwise very nice lunch.
Not the pub or staffs fault. Will probably return.
