Based on my experience during and after my divorce proceedings, I have serious concerns about Kevin Markes' professionalism, communication, and accountability. Most recently, he prepared a quitclaim deed incorrectly and had to contact my attorney to request my signature on a corrected document. As a result of his mistake, I incurred additional unnecessary legal fees. Despite reaching out three times requesting reimbursement, I received no response. Unfortunately, this was consistent with what I observed throughout the divorce process, including poor communication and delays in providing important documents, such as the final divorce decree, which was essential for completing financial divisions. Mistakes happen, but taking responsibility for them is a basic expectation of any professional. His lack of accountability and responsiveness was extremely disappointing. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend his legal services.

This reviewer has never been a client of Tannen Law Group. She was the opposing party in a divorce matter in which our firm represented her former spouse. In contested family law cases, our attorneys advocate solely for our clients, and the other side will not always be satisfied with the outcome or with how a case is handled. Our ethical obligations also require us to communicate with a represented opposing party only through that party’s own attorney, and we cannot discuss the details of any case. Tannen Law Group stands behind Mr. Markes and the work he does for our clients.

It really says a lot about a Law firm when they won't even dignify your inquiry with a call, an email, or any kind of response on the next available business day after the weekend. It is pretty obvious they "screen" consultation requests and determine which clientele are worthy of their time and which clientele they think may not be able to "afford" their services. As a firm, it is not good business practice to assess people's finances before speaking with them. At least communicate and respond to consultation emails. A law firm that wouldn't even acknowledge your inquiry for help is not a firm to do business with.

To the average person, these people would never help you do anything. I called about a family law concern I had & the receptionist pretty much told me their price & retainer fee & was like I don't want you to waste your time. I admit, $500 an hour $2000 retainer, I definitely can not afford that at all. People like me are stuck with legal aid. People like me who need real help but can't afford good lawyers. Not saying legal aid lawyers aren't good but come on man. They barely wanna call you back at legal aid. I've been waiting on legal aid to handle a wrongful eviction case for over 6 months now. These law firms get hand outs & bail outs & make money hand over fist, but they won't help the average person like me. I'm too poor for them to even looky way. This is what's wrong with America now. Greed!!

I am not sure how this firm is rated so high. My experience was otherwise. I tried to contact the firm in September 2025 (just got a chance to write a review now). I submitted the consultation request through their website, and then called them twice during the following 2 weeks and left a voice message. Nobody ever replied back to me. First time I got such experience with a law firm. [Response to the owner's response below: Although it is rare, it could happen that neither your website nor the phone system recorded my request somehow. Yup... things happen.]

Ethical. Compassionate. Skilled. Not the immediate mix of adjectives you think of when referring to a law firm. I am writing this review just for that reason. You need to know the combination is possible - especially when looking for counsel during a trying time in your life. For me that was divorce - specifically post divorce. As some of you may be aware the saga of divorce does not necessarily end with signatures on divorce documents. Unfortunately, I had and continue to have challenges that require legal counsel. During several consultations David provided transparent and honest advice - at times even suggesting when best not to pursue action. This was so refreshing as he was prioritizing my outcome not his income. And Melissa is an extension of this integrity and embodies compassion. Her care helped see me through a difficult process. Please do your due diligence when selecting representation. The stakes are too high. And please do yourself a huge service and include The Tannen group into your consideration set. Certainly lead with skill and experience when making a decision, something David and Melissa deliver, but give yourself the rare opportunity to have those that care also on your side. Good luck!
