I used Sven 10 years ago when they were just a smaller company of two brothers I believe. They moved me from BK to Queens perfectly. They knew how to maneuver tight spaces that look impossible to most as they moved me into a small basement studio. They came with everything possibly needed in case you had been ill prepared (which I was not, for the credibility of this review. In fact I was over diligent.) They took precautions anyway.
I used them again this Nov 1st, 2025 to move about 6 blocks down the street in Astoria when my girlfriend and I moved in together. THEY WERE EVEN BETTER THAN THE FIRST TIME.
Now, she was on the opposite side of Astoria and had the same, timely, efficient, careful, and considerate service as I had. Mind you this is two different teams of employees.
These hard workers are wonderful, and you can always find a good price when negotiating with them.

Benji and William moved me today and the experience was as smooth as possible. I had an estimate that it would take them two hours to move and they showed up exactly on time at 11:30 to begin. The entire time they were moving me, they literally ran up and down the steps, and completed the move in exactly two hours at that pace. When it comes to value for your money, they were cheaper than any other moving company I looked at in New York and worked harder than I ever would have expected or asked. They were communicative and responsive over both email and phone, courteous and kind, and treated my things with care. I cannot say enough good things. Will be using for my next move -- hopefully not too soon!
I used these movers twice and had a great experience. Unfortunately my last move with these guys was so bad it’s comical. They tried to change the move time on us last minute. They broke and ruined more than one of our plants, scratched the furniture, threw boxes clearly labeled “fragile” upside down in the truck, and they lost one of our boxes. The management company completely blew us off and blamed us, saying we “overpacked” our boxes. I have a broken toe and could carry every box no problem. I guess when they tried to move our time from the afternoon to 8 am last minute citing it was the safest time (we had to compromise at 10 am) , that they really meant it. Crazy how messed up people can get in two hours in the morning. One of the movers lost it on us when we didn’t have any glasses for water… we had literally just gotten into our new apartment. My husband and I still tipped well.

I reached out to this customer after they emailed me. They never responded to my email in any manner to discuss this or renumeration.

I'm very surprised to hear this, as Ricky and the rest of the crew have worked for me for years. They did note that several over your boxes were overpacked with too much weight for the size of the box, so they collapsed on eachother in the truck. Some of the boxes had to be lifted by 2 guys, which is a definite sign that they are over packed. I suspect that this is what contributed to the damage in some cases. One open box fell over in transit, and I believe a vase broke in that case, but my guys do not recall any specific instances of visible damage during the job. Do yo have images of specific issues?

My family moved today and Sven Movers were truly fantastic from start to finish. The crew members were exceptionally polite, professional, and efficient. I’ve never had a better experience a professional moving crew.
Not only were they fast, they were so speedy to move our 3 bedroom, 3rd floor walk-up apartment that they had actually booked a second job later that day. Incredible.
Even though we went over our box count, and even though there was no parking and they had to park a block away, the added charges were very reasonable.
They were well priced from the beginning. But now that we’ve finished the move, I can attest that they were worth every cent and they honestly could have charged double and I would still have been happy.
I hope we don’t have to move again any time soon, but if we do, I will definitely go straight to Sven.
Moving... always one of the most stressful times. Helped my son move from LIC to downtown NYC last week and couldn't be happier with this crew - professional, courtesy, efficient - they got the move done in 2 hours. They were hired to start at 9:00am and they showed up at 8:59am. A great start to a flawless day. The communication my son had with Sven in setting up the move was excellent. Sven lays out clear cut instructions and advice on how to have a smooth move - follow them and you wont be disappointed.

I had a good move with Sven! My quote from them was $300 less than my quote from Piece of Cake. I ended up paying $95 more than quoted because I had more stuff than originally indicated. My movers had everything out of my apartment in 20 minutes, and were on the road in 40. I was super impressed. They were kind and efficient!

Horrible experience, do not use Sven Movers. We meticulously packed up our apartment and provided detailed photos of all our larger items, weeks in advance of our move. The morning of the move, the head mover in charge was ridiculously rude. After walking around our apartment scoffing at all our stuff, he cancelled the entire move on the spot and gave some BS reason. The building staff overheard him and his team say "that's too much stuff for this amount of money," confirming that they cancelled simply because they didn't want to do the job. We then had to scramble to find new movers, day-of, and luckily Piece of Cake Moving was so helpful and accommodating of this emergency, last minute request. https://mypieceofcakemove.com/

Horrible service, the crew handled my items pretty recklessly and had no regard for my stuff. They broke my coffee table, and an expensive headboard. They didn't read labels and placed a heavy box of books on a box of fragile glassware, both boxes were clearly labeled. I reached out to Sven and he refused to file an insurance claim because my items were wrapped before the crew touched it and therefore they "couldn't be sure it wasn't damaged before'. I'd avoid this moving company if you want to make sure your stuff doesn't get damaged and you want good customer service.

We were unloading a storage unit where the furniture, including a mirrored headboard, was all blanket wrapped by some other company. We never saw it until we unwrapped it. Our insurance, and any moving company's insurance, will not cover items that were packed or wrapped up by somebody else. Customer claims she watched the previous movers wrap everything in the storage unit. Why would a moving company move mirrored furniture unwrapped and then only wrap it at the destination? It doesn't make any sense or seem remotely likely. With regards to the boxes being stacked, we stack sturdy boxes on top of sturdy boxes. As long as the boxes are sturdy and the same size, it doesn't really matter which is on top. You pay attention to the fragile part with how you move said box (put it down gently). I'm sorry she is unhappy, but no moving company could cover damages on something they didn't pack or inspect before packing themselves.

Cannot recommend, though they did complete the job and I have noticed only minor damage on one piece of furniture, so it's not a disaster. The issue is the attitude...they moaned for all three hours about everything, right down to the number of slats on the bed (??). They would point to various items and ask if that was included in the quote (it was) and then sigh loudly. It was like this from the very first second of the job -- before they had touched one box.
It was just an unpleasant experience.
At one point they complained their enormous truck was filled which was only because they didn't disassemble the furniture, probably to save time. They also didn't wrap most of the furniture and forgot to take something from my old apartment which was included in the quote (I didn't notice because the crew was rushing me like hell to "beat" them to the delivery site).
For what it's worth, I am not objecting to the price -- like other reviewers, I paid double the quoted stair fee (a misnomer of a term, since it seems to be not for stairs but for the quantity of stuff), but I think I deserved it because I wound up with more boxes than I thought. I also tipped.
Milo, William, and Zach helped me move my 3b3b from Flatbush to Flushing. It was the hottest day of the year, I lived in a 4 floor walk up, and I had tons of heavy stuff. But they were super troopers and they were super efficient and they saved my life. The cost was totally reasonable and worth it. Absolutely not a rip off like some movers seem to be. Moving can be stressful, but not with these dudes!
I've used Sven for my last 3 moves (2022, 2024, and again today) and I continue to have the absolute best experience with this company. Easy booking process, great communication, considerate and attentive work during the move. Even with elevator issues on both ends of today's move, the crew was flexible and efficient and got the job done in under 3 hours. The crew took great care of my delicate items and everything arrived in perfect condition. While I'm hopeful this is my last move for a while, I'm always glad to know I've found a reliable moving company in Sven and I recommend them to everyone I know. Thanks again for another successful move.
