We drove down to Detroit Lakes for a concert. We pick this place due to its location and cost. This family run hotel is clean and everyone was very helpful. Our room cards stopped working and were replaced very quickly. It is a basic room with a few updates. Being pet friendly was a factor for us. The breakfast room is small only three tables but we never had a issue. Lots of food and coffee available all day.
I had a great stay here back at the end of July first of August. It was perfect. Clean room and facilities. The people here are extremely friendly and helpful. The owner is a great guy who is willing to interact with guests. Paul was great to interact with. I was there by myself and hung out in the yard area. The room was very quiet and comfortable. I needed to rest and was able to do so. Probably got the best sleep I've had at any hotel. The value for your dollar is extreme high here.
This hotel had good ratings so I thought I'd give it a try. But I stopped my online reservation process abruptly. I had entered all my information but paused to read the fine print. Good thing I did! In the fine print was a notation that my charges (for a room where the rate was less than 75 dollars) would include $33 for "tax recovery charges and service fees," making my final bill above a hundred dollars. I canceled my reservation process immediately and took my business elsewhere.
This property is not by the lake and in my opinion kind of on outskirts of town but rate is reasonable. There is a Perkins restaurant and Tesoro gas station within walking distance. 2 story, did not see elevator. Young man who I'm thinking is owner/manager's son was very professional in performance of his job in checking me in. Rooms are clean and I am under the impression property was in process of cleaning carpets in hallways and rooms. They use the container of soap, shower gel, lotion and shampoo/conditioner with pump system. Breakfast selection adequate. Channel selection and Internet were fine. Room was clean. Overall an ok experience where I get impression they are making an effort to maintain property appearance to attract guests.
We were in Detroit Lakes for a family wedding. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms and interior were clean and up to date. The complimentary breakfast was good and there’s a Perkins right next door. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We would stay here again for sure.
I had to drive up from central Iowa to make a purchase at a dealership up the road. This hotel was not hard to find, nor was it in a sketchy area of town as most lower priced hotels may be. I arrived about 11:30 and was able to get help after ringing the bell. Pretty straight forward stay. Nothing fancy. Overall, it was fairly clean (not overly picky, but I have stayed at many a worse places), fairly updated, and simple stay. The continental breakfast was more than I expected to find, and the only concern I had leaving was the key drop off. I had no problem, but they left a bowl for keys on the front desk unattended. This seemed like a strange procedure in my experience. I was confused at the lack of people at the front desk.
Nice clean hotel but is a little outdated. For the $$$ value I don't mind it looking a little used as long as it is well kept as this one is. Thermostat on the wall had numbers on it instead of degrees, how warm is 3??? Temp of the room is important for a good night sleep, when will hotels figure this out and put the thermostats on the wall in degrees. At the very least they could have a thermometer in the room . Turned out 3 was too hot, had a crappy sleep. The bed was comfy and the rest of the room was good. It had a microwave and a fridge which is always a bonus.
The breakfast was good with biscuits and gravy with sausages along with the regular continental spread of cereal and toast. Toasted up some French Toast and had a boiled egg. Only 3 tables in the breakfast area seating 6 people gets a little crowded.
Has everything you need for an overnight stay if you are not upper crust. I enjoyed my stay and will be back if ever in the area.
We recently had a funeral in our family that entailed a six hour drive for us and we needed accommodations earlier than a typical check in time. When I called to make the reservation I was told it would be no problem for us to check in at 10:00 am, especially since it was a less busy time of the year. Upon our arrival, as promised, we were allowed to check in early. Our room was very clean and well cared for, as was the entire facility. When we returned late that evening, the hotel was extremely quiet and we had a much needed quiet night of sleep.
The complimentary breakfast was hot and delicious. The owner even made time to visit with us in the breakfast area the next morning. There are many hotels in this city, and most are alot more expensive. We've stayed at comparable hotels to this one and paid double what we paid for our night's stay here. We most definitely will return when we come back to this area.
When I went shopping online for a hotel room for one night in Detroit Lakes, I was a little stunned at the average price of the rooms. However, Detroit Lakes is definitely a ‘lake resort’ town and I’m sure the hotels and motels can easily fill their rooms to the vacationing crowd. America’s Best Value was one of the best value hotels with 3+ stars (my requirement) and turned out to be a very satisfactory place to stay.
The hotel is slightly off two main roads and both roads have a lot of construction activity which makes it very difficult for Google Maps to find it. Once found, though, I was pleased that is was a very clean, bright and well-managed hotel with sparkling rooms and more than serviceable bedding and towels. The management was quite helpful and was able to give me a room just a few doors down from an outside entrance as I requested.
The free breakfast actually included a number of both hot and cold options which could satisfy most diets.
A suggestion for finding the hotel, which is a little below the road elevation. A Perkins restaurant is right next door and the Perkins sign is actually easier to see than the hotel’s. Look for the Perkins. Also, at this point, coming in from Highway 59 is easier than coming in from Highway 10 which had all kinds of orange barriers. You can see the Perkins sign easier from Highway 59 as well.
America’s Best is only about a mile from the giant Walmart Supercenter if you need to replenish supplies.
Talk about value for one's dollar: this truly is a 'best value inn'! Very clean, quiet rooms, close parking, fantastic free breakfast (anything one could think of to start the day, and the manager was most attentive---and friendly---in regards to serving his guests), and, ok, the a/c did have a noisy fan, but they all pretty much do in motels. Just no disappointments at all about this place, and the plus is definitely the outgoing, easy smiles of the management.
