Jeremy is a lifesaver! He came to our rescue on a holiday weekend and got right into our safe. He gave us great advice on a replacement lock that's much more secure and installed it right then and there. The service was quick, easy, and highly professional. Highly recommend!
Despite having purchased my American Security safe from them years ago, this company wanted to charge me an EXORBITANT service call fee of $450 just to come to the house and determine why the safe was inoperable. Of course, anything more would be an additional charge. Extremely unreasonable considering the fact that literally every other locksmith in the area has a service call fee of less than $130. My conclusion is that Suffolk County Locksmith's really don't want to service the products they sell. No problem, plenty of other qualified locksmiths will.

Ray,
You purchased this safe from us approximately 10 years ago. The first question we always ask is if you have recently changed the battery, because that would be the first step. We were told you did change the battery already. Therefore, the quote we gave you was the service call/assessment & labor to non-invasively open the safe, if replacing the battery does not work. Unfortunately, there is not a forever warranty on batteries and service, as we do need to be compensated for our time, material and expertise. Just like with a vehicle, safes require maintenance and servicing over time.
The $450 was the service call and labor to non-invasively open the safe, meaning we can open it without needing to drill it. If it cannot be opened non-invasively, it must be drilled and the lock replaced at that point.
I can assure you, a locksmith did not quote $130 to open an American Security safe. If they did, I wish you the best of luck, as it does not sound like they know what they are doing and would proceed with caution. We have been in business for over 25+ years and stand by our quality work.
If you are going to take the time to leave a review like this, please at least include all of the facts.
Wishing you all the best.

My parents took their car to get a copy of their key made. They had them wait for 3 hours! After 3 hours, the person working on the car came and told them he messed up the ignition. Had to call his boss. Now they’re trying to charge my dad to fix the ignition that they broke?? Unbelievable. Stay away from this place.
Update to say I gave them a call and the receptionist was not helpful, she said a manager would return my call and he never did. She claimed the car had a pre existing issue that was common in Toyotas. Why wasn’t this disclosed at the time of service? Only after, once the ignition had been damaged.
Stay away from this shady place where they rip people off and treat customers poorly.
They also tried to persuade me to remove this review. Maybe treat your customers right and do good business so that you can get good reviews? Just a thought.

FALSE REVIEW:
Defamation & Extortion perpetrated by the “Buitrago” Family
Buitrago Family,
Since your reviews do not truthfully portray the events that took place, I would like to take a moment to set the record straight. We cut a factory key by code and while cycling the key in to be programmed, the ignition jammed.
Out of good faith, we pulled our senior technician from another job that he was on to assess and give a second opinion, he then removed the ignition to find a jammed split wafer, which has been an ongoing issue with Toyota ignitions for years.
As a goodwill gesture, we offered to supply & install a special-order replacement ignition and pin it back to the factory original key and install for below our cost, which was agreed to in writing by your father.
We went above and beyond to resolve a pre-existing problem.
Despite these events, after thoughtful consideration, we have decided to issue a refund for the already heavily discounted service that was provided, which did in fact resolve his issue.
NOT because we hold any responsibility for his failing ignition, but for the sake of taking the high road. Since these reviews left by various third-party family members that were not here nor involved, do not accurately depict the events that took place, we certainly did ask for them to be removed as we do not stand for libel, defamation and slander.
We have been providing caring quality service to our surrounding communities for over 25 years and will continue to do so.
Have a blessed day!

This place takes advantage of the elderly and rips people off. They made my father in law sign a receipt that said he would take down his bad review ???

My dad took his car in to get a spare key and they damaged the ignition. Not only did they make him pay FULL price for the key but the ALSO made him pay full price for the repair.
They took advantage of him unbelievable !!
He called me and is very upset cause he just paid over 400$ for something that was supposed to be as easy as key duplication.
Inexperienced locksmith.

Just got a couple Honda Keys made. Jesse in the shop was amazing. My key was so worn that they could not copy the key directly or look it up on the machine. So he took the time to pull the cylinder from my glovebox to retrieve a code to make a genuine Honda Fob key at no extra cost. His customer service was great and it was a great experience. I highly recommend!!!

Michael,
I am very sorry to hear you did not have a positive experience, however, I do believe you are speaking of a different company, as I do not have any documentation of doing business, nor does the owner physically come into the store/answer phones. There are quite a few companies on the island that use our company name, since we are licensed, bonded, insured, reputable & have been in business for over 25 years.
If there is something you need help with, I would love to be of assistance. Please give us a call at 631-589-8415.

BEWARE !!! I was told I would get charged $30 to program a fob (which I provided) and they billed me $123 . I didn’t notice until I looked at my monthly statement . They are crooks !
Reply from Suffolk County Locksmith, Inc2025.02.18
Kristen,
We would never quote $30 to program a key fob. Our minimum charge to program a customer's FOB is $110.
Please keep in mind there are numerous mobile locksmiths that pretend to be us, and use our name.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could remove this review, as it genuinely does not pertain to our place of business.
Thank you!

My technician AJ was awesome! Locked my keys in the trunk and within 45 minutes of the call he showed up at my house. Promptly opened the driver door to get access to the car. I searched a method of getting access to the trunk while the alarm was going off and AJ helped me get it done! Great guy and a great experience
