Absolutely a Ten for a Specialty Museum Tour!!! This is a guided tour only, by a Foundation member docent. Our docent for the approximately 1 1/2 hours tour was Dave! And Dave really knows his stuff when it comes to the history of the home and the period furnishings. Right down to the type of wall coverings and the maids history. That being said, if you have the slightest historical interest in the place, period or antique furniture and furnishings, you will without a doubt enjoy this tour. Touching is not permitted, but photos are allowed, so bring your camera! Dave leads you through the home room by room, explaining the history of each room and the objects contained there-in. He also explains the modernizing of rooms by the half dozen or so subsequent owner/residents to incorporate bathrooms, electricity, forced air, etc. We were there in early April when tours are only conducted by appointment. Joanne, was in charge there and she provided great service in returning calls, setting up the time with Dave and unlocking the home for us. So, if you come in early spring and weather has closed RMNP and other winter activities, give Joanne a call by visiting the website: stanleyhome.org (Not to be confused with the Stanley Hotel, which also conduct tours of the hotel and is not associated with stanley home museum.)

An Immersive Blast Into The Past Wow! What an incredible experience to be able to tour the home of F.O. Stanley. The tour is very immersive and the staff is so friendly. If you love beautiful views, history, and great stories, add this tour to your trip.

Fantastically preserved and lovingly tended, this 'modest' home with a stunning view was home base for the Stanleys, a childless couple who did so much to create and promote the beautiful mountain city of Estes Park.

Thank you for the great review Roger. We have been busy-bees this week dressing the house for the upcoming holidays. Absolutely beautiful!

This probably occurred at the Stanley Hotel, not the Stanley Home Museum, but we are glad you are enjoying Estes Park.

I always love visiting the Stanley Home. The volunteers are all incredible, kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. My mom and I shared tea with them and got a lovely tour. Delicious locally based teas, the best scones I have ever tasted, lovely sandwiches, I felt like a real princess! And the tour was informative and inspiring as well, every thing I learn about the Stanleys makes me love them more. Always highly recommended, and I’ll be back for sure!

I had the most wonderful time at the Stanley Home. We found this place on accident and went to the wrong spot at first and was late for our tour. They then called to make sure we were okay and still coming and that felt so special. The tour ended up being so wonderful and I saw such cool things and learned about the beginning of what would be Estes Park! Highly recommend, we will be back!!

That’s so nice to hear Tori! Glad we could provide a good tour for you!

Fran did a great job walking us through the home. Every room had a wow factor from the wallpaper to the antiques. Great way to spend an hour if you enjoy learning about the town and the Stanley's.

We visited this lovely home for a tour last week and very much enjoyed our visit. Our tour guide (Kathy) provided such great stories and information about F.O. and Flora Stanley and gave us time to really enjoy the details of the house. Seeing the house the Stanley's designed and lived in in Estes Park and enjoying their views of the Rocky Mountain National Park gave a perspective of why they loved this place and cared so much about building this community. Highly recommend stopping by and visiting.

This is a story worth hearing and a home worth seeing! I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing time rewinding, imagining how Mr. & Mrs. Stanley lived. Our guide succeeded in inspiring us with the story of Stanley's business success, intelligence, and sacrifices for his community. Highly recommend!

We are so glad that you enjoyed the tour. We believe that EstesPark wouldn’t be the place that it is today without the foresight of people like the Stanleys.

This place is a great hidden gem in Estes Park. My wife found a listing for it in the local tourist newspaper and I am really glad that she did. The house is where Mr. Stanley of Stanley Hotel fame spend most of his adult life and it is wonderfully preserved and our docent was very good. You should be aware that this is not located on the Stanley Hotel property but you should try to visit the place before you go to the hotel. The cost for the approximately 1 1/2 hour tour is also very reasonable, Very highly recommended.

Interesting historical tour with a view If you love old historic homes, fascinating people and early 20th century history this is a must do tour. Our docent Barb did a wonderful job telling us the history of F O Stanley and his wife Flora and what it was like to live in their summer home in the Rocky Mountains. Stanley is best known for the Stanley Steamer carriage and for building the historic Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. Neither venture made him wealthy, to learn that, take the tour. The price is very reasonable, half of what a tour at the hotel costs, and you do not feel rushed as the tours go out at 10, noon and 2. The Stanley Home Foundation is not affiliated with the current ownership of the Stanley Hotel. The view from the home’s front porch is worth the cost of admission. The house is still undergoing renovations, primarily in the upstairs bedrooms. Our group was small and the tour lasted about 90 minutes, though billed as a one hour tour, so don’t book anything too close behind it. The volunteer docents are generous with their time.
