TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. My sister tried booking this place for her birthday and was told someone would call back and confirm reservation and never did. When we tried calling multiple times no one EVER answered the phone. We go in anyways and they don’t even have tables large enough to fit 8 people. We waited half hour after being seated at two different tables and no one EVER came over so we just left and went to cornbread and have an amazing experience with amazing staff. Would never try this place again!
Let me say I never leave reviews, but my experience was so horrendous. The restaurant has fell from Grace. there was only one waiter for the entire restaurant. The owner doubled as the bartender with drinks that at best was subpar my party and I ordered margaritas that came in a shot glass and the owner had the audacity to say that’s how he serves them. The white sangria taste like a powder orange drink mix disgusting. We also ordered catfish bites that looked as if he took one catfish and cut it up into six pieces if the restaurant owner can no longer afford to service his customers he should close horrible.!!!
If you’re craving authentic Southern comfort food, look no further than this hidden gem! From the moment you walk in, the warm, welcoming atmosphere sets the tone for an unforgettable meal. The staff are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, which makes the whole dining experience even more enjoyable.
Now, let’s talk about the food – absolutely out of this world. The fried chicken is crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, with a golden-brown crust that’s to die for. The fish and grits are the perfect balance of creamy and savory, with just the right amount of spice. I also highly recommend the cornbread – it’s light, buttery, and comes with a honey drizzle that is absolutely addictive.
The sides are just as impressive – from the creamy mac ‘n’ cheese to the collard greens, every dish is packed with flavor and made with love. And don’t even get me started on the biscuits – they’re flaky, soft, and melt in your mouth.
Overall, this Southern cuisine restaurant offers an amazing blend of tradition and flavor that will have you coming back for more. Perfect for family dinners, date nights, or just a casual meal to satisfy your Southern cravings. Highly recommend!
They were short-staffed, so wait times for seating and food coming out were not favorable. However, the wait staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious, so that distracted from the long wait. This restaurant would be much better if they had sufficient staff, but it has the charm of a festive atmosphere, so overall, I had a great dining experience!
I went here 2 years ago then again 4 days ago. Those were 2 completely different experiences. The 1st time was excellent, however this past time seemed almost near terrible. The food was just ok, and they were severely understaffed. It took an hour for our food to come out, just to have my gf send her dish back because it was over salted. I’m very disappointed & needless to say, we will never be back
I went to this restaurant many years ago and had a phenomenal experience so I was excited to bring my family who were visiting from out of town to have the same experience. We did not. The food was good but took over an hour to come out when the restaurant only had 3 other smaller parties. We were a party of 8. We were actually celebrating my sister’s birthday. They seemed to be extremely understaffed as we noticed that the team took forever to bring our utensils after we received our food - which was backwards. They seemed to be scrambling. A few people in our party did not love the food experience. No special accommodations for the birthday girl or to accommodate the many service issues we experienced. The level of service just wasn’t there. The owner and staff member were kind but seemed completely overwhelmed with the workload as I think only 3 people total were working at the restaurant. My overall issue was the level of service as I understand things happen, but there is never a good excuse for poor customer service.
This place is so nasty look at my Mac and cheese! I called in my order at 6:01pm and didn’t receive my food until around 7:30! Then I received my ribs and mash and they forgot my mac and cheese and RISHED IT. You better off going to Something on Myrtle next door! DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE HERE
Mind you I come soon as they open there should be no excuse as your FIRST customer of the day my food is horrendous!!!!!
I’ve heard so many great things about Soco so finally I gather some friends and we went to check it out. If I was alone I would have probably walked out, but due to my friends and I engaging in conversation I wasn't as annoyed. Our drinks took about 20mins to arrive and when they came, I must say they were really strong and did not look like the picture on the menu nor did it taste like the description. One of my friends couldn’t tolerate the strength of the alcohol and asked to get another drink. The waiter was very professional and kind, however my friend wasn’t allowed to switch her drink and she still had to pay for it although she didn’t drink it.
Our Appetizers took between 15-20mins to arrive after our drinks and the food unfortunately was lukewarm, greasy and a very small portion for the price. The main dish came out 15-20mins after we finished our appetizer and that was also lukewarm but at the point we were STARVING so we just ate.
All and all the experience was extremely mid, not to mention it was pretty cold inside so we had to keep our jackets on the entire time.
I wanted to like this place so bad because I heard so many great things about it but unfortunately I did not.
Haven’t been here in years. The place still has great food. Made a reservation for 4 at 12:30 yesterday and as a business owner myself I see how things happen it appears that the food delivery for the day was late and impacted my reservation. The staff still allowed us to dine and apologized to us. We had to wait a while for the food but it’s understood it wasn’t the staff fault. Thank you for the nice service.
Me and my wife decided to take my oldest son here for his 22nd birthday, we heard great things about this place. The food was not amazing it wasn’t even okay I had lobster Shrimp and grits lobster was not fully prepared and my youngest son he 16 all he like to eat is burgers,so when I seen that he only took two bite I tried it,the burger felt like Soggy meatloaf I must say I was highly disappointed in this restaurant for a family of four spending $200 to go out to eat and riding two hours there and back. It was a total disappointment for me.
Just awful… the food was horrible and it was terribly slow for a Saturday night! Understandable considering the service was not great.
I had a horrible experience here and i will NEVER be returning! food was noticeably old & dry and there was NO staff! I saw a rat scurry across the floor while i was eating. Worst birthday experience ever… Owner was very rude.
New Review 9/29/24: Soco has fallen off. I went on Sunday afternoon and it was severely understaffed. The waiter said multiple times he was new but the food took well over an hour to come out. The handed is chipped plates for our appetizers. Sad to say the owner was mixed the drinks because there was no bartender. The food was okay but after a long wait it's hard to be happy with what you get. This was once a go to spot to have good food and vibes. I hope they are able to bounce back.
Old Review:
The staff is friendly. Fish and grits as well as the mussels were very tasty.
