Day in the SIAN KA’AN reserve with Rapha.
As advertised, great day from the beginning of the morning with the MAYA massage 😌 until the end and the goodbye of the crocodile waiting under the bridge to greet us. The noon pose at the end of the world. Wildlife incredible brief Thanks again to the team and the small group very friendly and of course thanks RAPHAËL our guide.
An amazing day
What an amazing day we had with Pixan Ka'an. It is a long day on rough roads but you are warned in advance (take precautions if you get travel sick). It is well worth the journey and lots of fun. Gabriella our guide was superb and slipped seamlessly between languages making sure everyone got the full details. Her knowledge of the animals and environment was superb and she ensured we had an amazing time. I absolutely loved zipping around on the boat and we saw both dolphins and turtles swimming alongside us. The highlight however was when we were snorkeling on the reef and seeing a couple of manatees swim beneath us.What a fabulous day with a wonderful guide, driver and boat captain.
Fun, social experience with good hosts!
I visited the tour solo. Nadia was my host and she did a good job of informing what we were seeing, from animals, to a tour of the local villagewould find out any extra information. It included seeing turtles, dolphins, manatees. With the weather being rough they kept us entertained and we still managed to get into the water. Some drinks were offered and the buffet food was tasty.A nice mix of solo and group travellers making it very social.
Respectful, adventurous, and intimate ocean safari in a place of paradise
My partner and I had a perfect day on this tour in Sian Ka’an. Sophie was a wonderful guide who kept the energy up throughout the tour, looked after everyone’s safety, had incredible knowledge about the area, and possessed a true respect for wildlife (and speaks three languages!). We love nothing more than observing animals in their natural environment, and the small group size of this tour made us extremely comfortable and pleased that the nature here isn’t being exploited for tourisms sake. We saw crocodiles, dolphins, green turtles, frigates, pelicans, osprey, iguanas and tons of fish. We learned a lot on this tour and fell in love with the town of Punta Allen. The drive from playa del Carmen is long but so worth it if you are a nature lover. Truly one of the best tours we’ve done!
Visit of a unique park, a real communication with nature
It was a unique experience. We visited paradise places, an island with lots of birds (the guide showed us how to recognize the age of pelicans, the different birds), the gap with crocodiles, we saw turtles and went snorkeling. In the end we went to a natural pool very far from the coast where we were standing on fine sand, in clear water. Our guide, Nora, gave us very interesting information about the different animals that lived in this beautiful reserve, she was very enthusiastic and attentive. During the snorkeling she showed us the interesting points and throughout the tour she was very attentive and answered all our questions. The food in Punta Allen was very good and the place very beautiful. I recommend this activity which is very different from an amusement park. We really feel in touch with nature. The rest of the staff were also friendly and attentive.
Very unprofessional in organization and handling
Very unprofessional and annoying. We had booked in advance and they knew I was still waiting for the payment link for the deposit. Instead of sending the link in time, it only came after I followed up – and then with the absurd timeline, otherwise cancellation. The link was immediately invalid again, and then I was informed that our seats were gone. No chance to clear up the misunderstanding. That's not how you deal with paying customers. The tour itself I can therefore not rate because we never got this far....
A fantastic trip
We had a fantastic day. Our guide Nadia was brilliant. She was so knowledgeable about the area and Mexico in general and was clearly very passionate about the trip, animals and experience. We saw dolphins who were jumping out of the water, a huge turtle, lots of different birds and a wide range of fish including a nurse shark. It is a great trip, one we have done before, however this time our guide really added so much more to the trip. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Great and quiet!
Great. Very complete. Real paradise. Bird watching DE marine fauna, turtles, dolphins....Snorkel POR the reef... in short great! Friendly people. Good food above DE beach under coconut trees. Our guide Nora, excellent. Complete and varied explanations. Good job DE protecting this super ecosystem. I recommend it without hesitation!!!
Amazing tour - must do if you like nature and wildlife
Incredible day - so many wish-list experiences ticked-off in one day (snorkelling on a coral reef (I think we found Nemo!), seeing dolphins, crocodiles and giant sea turtles close up and personal, a speed boat ride through the mangroves and swimming in the beautiful Caribbean Sea with bath temperature water!). Sophie is an incredible guide - extremely knowledgeable and her passion for what she clearly loves doing is infectious, making it an amazing experience. Thanks Sophie (and Carlos the driver who safely got us down 30km of very bumpy roads) for a day we will remember for life!
A great time to share and a great opportunity to learn about the biodiversity of Mexico.
It was a great day where we learned a lot, thanks to the whole team! Thanks to our guide Nadia who was enthusiastic and cheerful that makes you want to discover the surrounding nature. Also thank you to the captains of the boats Jeremiah and Toto for the beautiful crossing, it was nice to sail with them. We recommend with your eyes closed!
One of the best!
Maca is an amazing person with deep knowledge of the region and its wildlife. She shared so many fascinating insights, and we loved discovering dolphins, crocodiles, birds, turtles — and eventually even a manatee — with her. One of the best wildlife excursions we've ever been on. Truly unforgettable. Thank you, Maca!
Below expectations and really long and tiring journey
We waited for this excursion with very high expectations and were not met. Given that, we had asked for the excursion in Spanish and were placed in a group of only French, but fortunately the guide also spoke Spanish. The trip on the bus is two hours out and two hours back and the road is terrible, also along the way there is nothing to see, it seems you never arrive after you are up from 5.30. Only in one point if he is lucky enough to see crocodiles, we have not seen them and honestly the photos I see in various posts look different from what we have seen. No one helps you takes you to look for crocodiles, you are left on a bridge and if you are lucky you see them maybe from above in a non-transparent water....Maybe the day we went we were unlucky, the water in the lagoon was not so transparent and the animals saw each other but never well: a turtle peeped out, the snout of a manatee for 5 seconds, and dolphins swim without ever seeing the snout. Also there was wind and rough seas and snorkeling was cancelled but no alternative activities were provided. Basically I travel four hours to stay on the boat two and a half hours eat on the beach, stop for an hour on the beach with sargasso and leave. I would add that the organization was not the best, the boats were from six we were three my husband and the child, there were then two couples and a family of five, for this my family was divided and my husband went on the other boat, conclusion the part of the lagoon visit we did it all separate. I think that those who organize and charge a large amount of money should make sure that these things do not happen and to be able to enjoy the experience all together. In all this the guide and the captain were still very good and kind. Nothing to say about the beauty of the place that would really be a paradise, if only we could have enjoyed it more and with a less windy situation and rough seas. For this reason I do not feel like recommending this excursion for the high price compared to what it offers and the trip you have to make to get to the lagoon. If you are certain that you want to face a long and really uncomfortable car journey, first make sure of the sea and wind conditions and be able to do all the activities also make it clear that you want to be all together on the boat. Perhaps in rough and windy conditions if the lagoon does not allow you to see the animals because of the opaque water, the agency should consider not taking the excursion or postponing it, and should at least charge for snorkeling only if it is actually done. It should also ensure proper division on boats. It seemed to me that they brought together more people in order to fill the two boats without taking into account how the group was divided and that we were the only non-French ones, by the way....
Great tour (guide)!
We really had a fantastic time! We sat with 9 others, all French, but our guide Sophie who told everything double for us in English. We had such a fun day because of Sophie, she was very cheerful and full of fun facts about nature and animals. She really made sure everyone had a good time. I'll give everyone Sophie if they go. The car ride was indeed bumpy but was part of the experience. You can never promise what kind of animals you will see with such a tour, but we have spotted very cool animals! Sophie also made sure we didn't scare the animals and were able to enjoy them for so long. We also saw 2x a manatee!! We enjoyed it very much and recommend it to everyone. If only for the nature you see.
Nature Inspired
I really enjoyed our excursion to Sian Kaan! Milan, our guide was so passionate about the animals and the biosphere and shared a wealth of knowledge with us during our adventure. We saw coates, a dolphin, sea turtles, a manatee and so many species of birds. It was amazing!
Great people - great trip - if then with Pixan
We were very intimidated at first because the tour takes so long and I get seasick very easily. Yes, the car journey is quite a challenge but it was actually well done. The break on the bridge creates some time to breathe ^^ On the boat it was mega relaxed I enjoyed it very much. We have seen everything except crocodiles but was ok for us:) During the snorkeling tour we saw two giant lobsters and a firefish. That's what impressed me the most. Regarding Sunscreen I can only advise to buy one that is suitable for the reef and to take a long shirt. The sun must not be underestimated. We found the price reasonable at least you have a guide a chauffeur, a captain and get a hot buffet :) with extra charge you also get a freshly prepared lobster. It was exhausting but definitely worth it. Thanks to Nora for the efforts, to Carlos who drove us by car to the boat and did not make me sick due to his driving skills and to the captain who explained a lot to us and drove especially again to the birds on the journey home. Anytime again:) Isabella and Patrick
