Terrible experience.
I called this morning to ask if they had a game in stock. They said yes and told me the price was $25. When I arrived, suddenly the price was $45. When I explained that I was told $25 over the phone, the owner got rude and argumentative. Instead of honoring the price, he said, “the price is the price—if you don’t like it, go somewhere else.”
I then tried to buy another game and asked if they could replace the case because it had a crack in it. They wanted to charge $2 for a replacement. I asked why I should have to pay to replace a broken case, and the owner’s excuse was, “it’s an old game.” I told him it’s not my fault they take in games with damaged cases. Every other retro game store I’ve been to has swapped out cases for free. He asked if I was buying it or not. I said not if I have to pay extra for a broken case — and he kicked me out.
After speaking with a few other retro stores in the area, they said they’ve heard similar complaints about the owner. I understand why now.
We saw this place by chance. While we were driving by so we stopped to go check it out. This place is pretty awesome for any gamo. They got a little bit of everything retro and modern. They also got some funko, some of the cool stuff.Statues definitely worth checking out and i'm sure there's a lot of great hidden treasures there from what I could see.We will be going back to check it out for sure.Everybody was great, very pleasant, very helpful answered all our questions. You guys have a great shop and we definitely look forward to coming and getting stuff in the future and thank you for being so kind to my son. We really appreciate the pack of Pokémon cards you gave him.🫶💯🤙
.Thank you
I give this place a shot like every 6 months, but every time, they either price gouge or low ball the hell out of you. I brought in a $70 title they offered me $20 in store credit. That's right, 28 percent market value in store credit. There's like eight other stores you can choose from, I highly recommend checking those out before Royal empire.
Insane.
Be aware. Very questionable services. Nice at first. I wanted to buy a pre-owned system for my son. All I asked was that they turn it on as to verify it worked properly and they flat refused. They claim a 30 day grunted. But who's to say they don't claim it was working when I bought it or I did something. I felt my request was not out of line. It's terrible to see a local business treat people like that.
Royal Empire Gaming is a great local game shop that is a must visit for any gaming enthusiasts. Decent amount of retro consoles and games at ok prices. The biggest thing that keeps me from buying is the prices are a tiny bit on the pricey side, some are lower - all depends on what you’re looking for.
