CONTRO
I garaget

Truly Awful - lovely hotel Bad Food Bad Service
I booked what I mistakenly thought was a "luxurious" (albeit with a small L) break for myself and 2 daughters at the H10 ESTEPONA Palace through Jet2.
The brochure/web site painted a picture of a superb 4 star hotel and spa offering discerning guests fantastic accomodation, excellent dining facilities and a well appointed Gym and Spa. It also described a seemingly great All Inclusive option and a "Privelage" upgrade which would elevate the whole experience for guests.
The reality was VERY VERY DIFFERENT.
The hotel itself is lovely and seemingly well maintained and clean however that's about as good as it gets.
The dining experience is awful - let me quantify that slightly. I can admittedly be a bit of a food snob at times but am no stranger to eating in a greasey spoon cafe when out on the road or stopping for a kebab on the way home from a night out .. it's horses for courses right? You set your expectations appropriately and those expectations are usually commensurate with what you pay. The meals at the hotel were surpassingly BAD, the food (whilst abundant) was poorly prepared and cooked with little variety (90% of dishes same every day). There were theme days in the restaurant but frankly they were a joke - German Cuisine day seemed to comprise solely of someone having open-end a tin/jar of bratwurst sausages whilst Tex Mex day was a tray on mini burritos.
All of this served buffet/canteen style as you'd expect from an All Inclusive however the brochure also espoused the virtues of a second restaurant at the hotel that offered a more expansive A La Carte option - only issue was the restaurant closed at 7pm!
Each day for us ended up with the same routine .. go to restaurant, get table, circle the available food, fail to find anything remotely edible, leave restaurant and order in or go to restaurant/cafe in town.
Bars were another issue - 3 bars at hotel as per brochure. Lobby Bar closed until 5pm, Mediterraneo Chill Out Bar closed all the time (only open till September although appeared to open one evening for a private function) and finally the Thalassa Bar closed at 7pm.
Lobby Bar was where entertainment was also held resulting in bunch of adults having to endure 60 mins of bizarre kids club entertainment (3 blokes dressed in varying football shirts dancing to various kids songs much to the bewilderment of the 3 or 4 kids watching).
Thalassa Bar was ok - terraced area by pool and drink (when you could get one) were decent enough however despite being located next to the pool there was no poolside service for guests on sun loungers.
The SPA & Gym looked very nice through the closed and chained doors - only open from 10-7pm with the customary 60-90mins break in the day for staff to have a kip somewhere - we never managed to actually get into it.
Now the BIGGEST gripe was the Privilege option.
This option gives guest access to a superior level of accomodation and access to a range of services that normal guests don't receive all for an additional £200 a day per guest.
Including access to the Privilege lounge with food and drink outside of bar/restaurant hours, the Privilege Terrace area - sun beds showers drinks etc, Privilege Dining area exclusive seating and concierge service and upgraded rooms with cleaning twice a day etc.
The rooms to be fair met the description and were nice and we'll appointed but that's it as far as Privilege went. We were lucky to get room cleaned once a day nevermind twice, the Privilege Lounge was a converted meeting room with a few sofas a TV and a fridge with some soft drinks in it and left over canapes from the last sitting in canteen - no waiter or bar service. The Privilege Terrace was frankly bizzare - set at back of hotel (nice view admittedly) on 2nd floor with no access to pool. Nice sunbeds and a fridge full of soft drinks, no waiter service no toilets and you had to remove dead birds from it most mornings. The Privilege Dining area was no more than 4 tables set by enterance to restaurant that you never actually got seated at even if you asked.
All in all the H10 ESTEPONA Palace was a total let down.. lovely hotel with semi decent facilities but that's where it ended the staff couldn't give a toss unless it was to tell you to put a mask on the food and drink is some of the worst I've ever experienced (and I ate out of a military kitchen for 7 years).
Estepona itself is a beautiful town and has great bars and restaurants if you want to go there do yourself a favour for the same money as this place book a villa or go to ICOS or Kempinsky Hotel and don't waste your money here because You will be disappointed if you do.
Very moody staff!!
Hotel is lovely beautiful beach views and very bright and beautifuly decorated hotel. Pool area lovely and so peaceful but I can’t imagine being here in the hight of Season as it’s a small pool area. Room was good very spacious and clean. The restaurant area is ok but but we ate on the terrace as much better out there. Food is so so small flys landing on all the foods, the downside to this hotel is the staff unfortunately, rude and unapproachable. Estapona is lovely but you need a car which thank god we had to see anything special.all in all a good holiday would never come in season as I can’t imagine how they could supply the sun Beds or area for them at the pool
Beautiful Estepona Palace
This is a most beautiful elegant and bright hotel, with large rooms , we had the sea view on the 6th Floor nd it was worth every penny , we had a large triangle shaped balcony looking write onto the sea and pool are which is so wonderful at night beautifully lit.
The room was very spacious and the bed was comfy and large, bathroom as well, loved the deco and atmosphere created.
Breakfast most definitely 4 star , with all you could desire and seating outside was amazing , really enjoyed the option of breakfast outside.
The only down was the reception, I was not happy with our welcome or that I have to pay 15 Euro dept for each pool towel and then 5 Euro each day for a water cooker that in my view should have been included in the room price, I also found the reception unfriendly and not up to a 4 star standard.

Disappointing and NOT worth the money
Immensely disappointing and certainly not worth the price.
I bought my 2 teenage kids here for a week (at hotel as I write this) mid October 2021; an All Inclusive +Privelage option via Jet2 Holidays.
As this was part of Jet2 Luxe Collection and given the descriptions on Jet2 site and H10 site I was expecting some a bit more than what we are currently enduring.
The All Inclusive option is probably one of the worst All Inclusive packages I have ever come across made worse by the limited places within the hotel to get access to its benefits.
Supposedly 2 restaurants although on shuts at 7pm no pool side service and passive aggressive waiting staff who really not interested in serving you and even more irritated if you show an all inclusive band.
Expansive Ice Cream menu but very very limited available for all inclusive customers and rest cost cash.
Main restaurant/buffet is OK but that's as far as it goes.
Supposed to be 3 bars but one shuts at 7pm one is closed fully so only open one is lobby bar.
Entertainment is awful .. kids club was 3 random guys wearing football shirts dancing uncoordinatedly on stage on various kids songs much to the bewilderment of everyone forced to watch - it was in Lobby Bar.
The package came with the Privelage club upgrade option which promised exclusive benefits and areas to customers. What a joke that is you have access to 3 areas one is a set of 5 tables in main buffet restaurant with no additional service the other is a converted hotel meeting room with a fridge a few sofas a coffee machine and a TV - fridge has soft drinks that you can't take out of room. No staff serving the room whatsoever ... The final area is a Sun lounger area set on the end of the hotel with no access to the pool ... The whole thing is just odd. You are also supposed to get access to spa and gym but gym doesn't open until 10am and is closed by 7 with customary Spanish break in the day presumably so staff can have a kip somewhere.
The hotel itself is nice and clean and room itself is nice ..
All in all a very very disappointing experience and certainly not worth even 50% of what it cost us ...
No way a Palace!!
Having stayed at the Elba Hotel 2 years ago (which was very good) we thought we try the H10 for a change. We opted for 1/2 board and wished we had gone Bed and breakfast only. The food is uninspiring and cannot recommend it. We ate dinner out a lot in Estepona which was much better.
Do not expect tea and coffee making facilities as part of the room price - there is a extra daily charge (we bought a kettle and ingredients for far less). Do not expect free pool towels - a deposit of €15 (cash) and you will forfeit if you lose or forget the towel. The outdoor pool is really cold - I heard many comments to confirm this. If it’s raining or cold there is a charge of €17 to use the heated indoor pool for an hour or so. Don’t expect quality bathroom soaps etc - you get a little plastic bottle of shampoo and body wash. No conditioner or body cream, ear sticks, sowing kit, tissues, etc.
The electric room door locks are rubbish - the room card has been wiped six times since we been here and the trip back to reception to get it re programmed is getting really boring.
If you bring a rental car - there is limited free space outside the hotel. There is an ample locked underground car park at an additional daily charge.
We won’t be staying here again.
Overall impression
Visited this hotel for 10 days from 25 September to 5 October 2021 all inclusive.
Facilities excellent, very good range of food and drinks including premier brands.
All staff excellent especially Jaime and Viktor who kept us active with their fun and games.
Only negative was an overzealous male barman who was overly fussy about the number of drinks we ordered-there were 3 in our party and that was maximum we ever ordered.
All in all we would return to the hotel in the future although it was a good 20 -25 minute walk to the marina in Estepona.

Lovely holiday
We’ve been here for nearly 2 weeks and have been absolutely delighted with our stay.
In our opinion, some of the negative comments raised by others have been petty and we were pleased that the hotel stood up and responded so candidly.
Everything is about balance and whilst things can go wrong, we found that the hotel was quick to remedy this. We had a couple of issues but these things happen.
The hotel is found in a quiet part of Estepona and this meant it was quiet – great! A walk to the Marina is about 20 minutes and 45-60 minutes to the shopping/restaurant area of Estepona where the selection of café’s, restaurants and bars was plentiful. We ate out a couple of times and the taxi was about 8 euros and the walk back via the marina for a nightcap an enjoyable one. Estepona is a lovely place and the weather was superb.
Our stay was on a half board basis and we were allocated a lovely room on the 6th floor with a superb view of the sea and the coast all the way to Gibraltar and on really clear days to Morocco. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. We decided not to select the privilege package as we felt it was not worth the money for what you receive and used it to tip the excellent staff and nights away from the hotel.
We are aware of the potentially slippery bath and were aware of the offer of a mat but didn’t need one. Again, we were aware of the bed being firm and that we were aware that additional support was available. The safe was an optional extra and whilst not expensive, I recommend the hotel offers this for free and increases the hotel rate a little to accommodate this. Many of us are regular travellers and receive this for free as part of the cost. Some prefer the lower rate and the choice….not a problem, just a minor observation. Some UK TV channels would be a welcome addition to the service but we have Sky Go and a VPN so were able to watch our favourite shows using a HDMI connection from the laptop to the TV and not just the English speaking news for 2 weeks.
Reception staff were helpful through out and printed our papers for the return flight quickly. Nothing was a problem. Need a taxi – no problem, the taxi was there in 5 minutes. Thanks you guys.
A trip to Gibraltar was excellent and we arranged this via the Jet2 rep Jayne who was always on hand to help is we needed.
Food – breakfast was excellent whether you wanted something cooked eg fried eggs/omelettes/bacon or from the selection of pastries, fruit, cereals or a combination. We swapped out dinner for lunch on a couple of occasions and this was excellent as was the bar snacks menu at the Thalassa bar. The staff was busy and were helpful throughout. They worked so hard and we thank them all for looking after us.
The evening entertainment was very good with a variety of acts that kept us entertained. The bar staff kept us topped up with table service when the bar was busy. Decent prices as well. We also visited the Ancla Sea Bridge Bar and Restaurant (found 400 meters to the left of the hotel) for beer and cocktails. The view was fantastic. This is no criticism of the hotel but it’s a shame that there were no other local bars close-by but I liked the walk and that the area was quiet.
Before we visited, we were aware of the feedback about the pool area and the beach. There is some merit with this feedback and the management should consider some maintenance to enhance the hotel product:
1. Renewing some of the pointing between some tiles around the pool area. It’s not a problem today but it may be soon.
2. Fix the wobbly step on the wooden stair that allows you to leave and enter the hotel 24/7 from the beach walkway. It has been previously repaired but has worked loose. This should be quick to fix.
3. Clean up the beach area and sieve the sand for cigarette ends, large stones and other items. The chairs could benefit from a clean to brighten them up or their replacement.
We plan to come back soon as this is a very good hotel that has a good vibe, ticks all our boxes and is close to the town of Estepona and other touristy areas such as Gibraltar, Manila, La Duquesa and Puerto Banus. Thank you to the H10 team for a lovely holiday.
Enjoying a great holiday in a wonderful hotel
We are currently in Estepona Palace hotel on day 4 of a week long trip. We are loving every minute. We booked a standard room on a b&b basis. The room is spacious and the bed big and comfy. It has been serviced every day by friendly , smiling staff. We had two small issues with repairs needed to the reading light and the fridge…both were fixed promptly and efficiently. I was amazed how quickly the work was done! The tv is good and the bathroom is fine. The shower could do with upgrading but it’s no problem. …care is needed getting in and out as it’s bathtub style.
The swimming pool area is beautiful. 2 lifeguards are on duty at all times. One pool is heated, the other is not. There are LOADS of sun beds! The hotel is quite full but there is never an issue finding beds. The beds are spotless and comfortable . They are laid out in groups of 2 and 3 socially distanced from each other. Pool towels are available to rent for a refundable €15 each per week. That’s fine with me. Nobody is obliged to rent them. It’s all very well managed. I love the 2 waterfalls . They are great for swimming around and through !
The hotel itself is spotless. The staff work so hard to keep it so nice. They are always pleasant and friendly and eager to help whenever they can.
The breakfast is fab. Everything from fruits, pancakes, omelettes, cereals, breads of every type, bacon, fried eggs, toasties, yogurts. I could go on and on…. The array is fab. Just enjoy it!
There is entertainment every night. Pool tables in the bar, table tennis at the pool and activities during the day.
I can’t praise this hotel enough. Every possible effort has been made to make our holiday perfect and that is exactly what it is.
Thank you to all the staff here.
We will be back !
LB
No way a palace first time visiting this hotel stayed In Estepona many times hotel asking for 15 euro per pool towel per person happy to pay but staff are insisting on cash only unfortunately did not have 30 euro cash at this time offered to pay by card but declined by staff .
No pool towel solution use bath towels like many other people staying at this hotel.
The reviews and ratings are pretty spot on
So I came here to get away before we head in Autumn back home and what with Covid and what I would call a poor summer weather wise due lack of consistent sunshine I needed to get some sun and Spanish culture! I like NICE! I want to be treated well and be in a nice environment and facilities. I was looking for 5 star, beach front and an area not too commercialised! I wanted to be able to swim in the sea and walk into a traditional Spanish village. As a solo traveler I also wanted to feel safe and looked after in my hotel. I would say almost 90% of this was achieved during my stay here at H10. Whilst it’s not 5 star and a Spanish 4 star it’s actually good!! I paid the extra for a sea view room and upgraded to a privilege package (30e a day). Whilst I’m not sure the latter was worth it I did have a lovely room, great views, incredible service to my room, lovely welcome package, daily paper and access to unlimited soft drinks snacks and water in the 2 privilege areas. I was on all inclusive package so with a wave of wrist band all my alcoholic beverages (and food) were included.
Now I can attest to what other reviews have stated! The cleanliness of this place plus the rooms is fantastic! Whilst the stairs in the main lobby could do with being done more than once a day and the yellow seating areas a bit of a refresh the rest is immaculate (toilets, pool area, stair cases, spa etc)!
What has impressed me the most about this place is the following and probably in this order:
The staff never ever ever stop!! No matter which restaurant or bar you go in they are constantly serving and clearing! The main restaurant particularly the outside area staff are just on the go all the time and whilst typically Spanish in their demeanour (efficient), they can’t do enough for you! Always greeting you with such professionalism and cleaning cleaning cleaning table after table or restocking the Buffett! The next is the outside pool / terrace bar! Busy busy busy but again service is so quick and professional. The cleaners who service your room are amazing, quick thorough and always leaving personal touches and again cleaning cleaning cleaning. Then there is the spa... wow! I booked in and had x 4 massages double session each time and wow I was sleeping blissfully in each of them at the same time as having the right pressure (I don’t like it light). They were incredible.
The only negative I think I can find is as a vegetarian some nights your choice is limited to salad and cheese but to be fair the variations on dinner themes each night brings in more choice. Considering the mass catering they have to do you can eat healthily and lots of options. I don’t do fish but boy it smelt amazing and always cooked fresh in front of you.
The final thing I would say is the chill out Mediterranean bar is amazing! The views to sit here reflect on your day and watch the sunset is great! Sadly even if you are a privilege all inclusive guest you have to pay for your drinks here but...the wonderful staff on the bar are so honest and say to just nip to main lounge bar and bring your drink through! Thank you, this made my stay because this is a great place to it in the evening. If anything I can’t see why more guests don’t use it!
So there you have it, more I could say but the point is, it’s not 5 star (nor does it claim to be) but it is a very good Spanish 4star with excellent staff throughout!

Buen hotel
Estancia bastante buena!
PALACE QUE DE NOM….beaucoup à faire..
