I paid over $5000 over the course of five months for them to do absolutely nothing. Not one motion filed nor meeting set up with opposing council. My attorney Mr. Mabon communicated with me once, they kept switching paralegals, and it would take them a week to respond to my inquiries. I would strongly suggest avoiding this firm until they get their act together.

I would highly recommend that any father going through family court in California to call Reel Fathers Rights. I had a pretty contentious divorce that involved child custody as well. I worked throughout the marriage, but my ex wife did not. I was concerned that I was not only going to not be able to see my kids much, but also be required to pay a lot of alimony. My team got to work right away on my case. They were able to negotiate a custody arrangement almost immediately and I got just under 50/50 custody (it came out to like 46%). Child support and alimony were a little more difficult, but the team was able to get a pretty reasonable number for both and helped me keep the family home. I can’t help but thank to team at Reel Fathers for helping me navigate this difficult time in my life.

Overcharged and poor communication Had a court date on 2/4/26 and hired them with a $5,000 retainer. Communication was poor and misleading from the start. Despite being promised reasonable charges, I was shocked to receive a $7,000 bill for one day, including $825 for time during a lunch break. To make it worse, I still haven’t received my court paperwork nearly two weeks later, leaving me completely in the dark about my visitation rights and agreements. Multiple calls and emails have gone unanswered. If you’re a father fighting for custody, beware—they overcharge, give false promises, and provide no follow-up support.

Would not recommend them for any court issue...their response time is horrible, but are sure to charge you for everything..in the end I was charged 4k and nothing wasn't even filed in court..

This was one of the worst legal experiences I have ever had. From the very beginning, this law team attempted to have me contact another state and hire another attorney to file a motion to move my case from one state to another, even though neither party had lived in that state for over 15 years. I was nearly forced to pay another lawyer for something this firm should have handled from the start, all while they were actively billing me. I ultimately had to contact the United States Army JAG team myself just to get my case moving in California. JAG pulled the correct form in about 15 seconds and sent it to me, and I then had to email it to my own lawyer so he could do his job. The back-and-forth, delays, and complete lack of direction cost me nearly $1,000.00 out of pocket. I literally paid $1,000.00 for their incompetence and failures. I filed for custody in March. Both of my children were over 15 years old, so legally the decision was largely theirs from the start. They had already moved in with me and had been living with me for over six months by the time I filed. Despite how simple this case was, I did not receive a court date until late August. Why? Because I was given a month-long runaround being told I needed to file paperwork to close the case in Oklahoma before it could be moved, which was completely false. Again, JAG immediately identified the correct process, while my paid attorney could not. During my one and only meeting with Mr. Chapin, I made it very clear that I wanted the children’s mother to pay child support. I told him I did not care about the amount, I wanted her to pay. When we finally went to court, he called in, the mother did not appear or call in, and I was awarded full custody. That was in late August. It is now January, and I am still paying her child support. She is not required to pay me anything. Let that sink in. I paid child support for 16 years without missing a single payment. Now I have full custody, the kids live with me full time, and I am still paying her while she pays nothing. How does that happen? It happens because of a lazy and incompetent law team. To make matters worse, all that needed to be done to stop the payments was to upload a form to the Army. Did they do that? No. So not only was I paying child support for two children who lived with me the entire year, I am still paying after being awarded full custody. Mr. Chapin was presented to me as their “most experienced” attorney. If this is the level of service from their most experienced lawyer, I cannot imagine how the rest of the firm operates. Worst law team I have dealt with in the state of California. Save yourself the time, money, and stress and keep looking.

I will never recommend reel fathers right to anyone, they don't care about fathers right or their clients. I lost over 13K and I still have to go back to court for the same case. This Corp will ask you to send pictures and videos of the case to have strong evidence, but not use anything of the picture or evidence you have provided and the charges will go up. Like in many reviews that I just read they will ghost you, but the bill lady will be calling you everyday for more money, the lady even threatened me in putting me in collections if I don't make a payment when in that same week I gave them 2k I had to pay them again and she also told me they can't help me anymore after I made the payment. I still have to go back to court and most likely my ex wife will win the house and this company won also in taking 13K from me. And I'm left in the street with more to own. I could say thank you for nothing. I believe there's a God and God sees everything.
