One day at a time. The tools to succeed are accessible here. Asking for help is key. Shelter is shelter. I expect to run into all sorts of people in such. Warm. Not outside. Fair. Staff are really good at deescalating situations it impresses me often. My emotional support pet was allowed when first entering. Which is Why the PD helped me come to this one. Food. Shower. The basics. The rest is up to me. Thank You!
Words cannot explain how awful this place is. Every night your woken up by someone with mental illness, screaming and yelling profanities and the other people start yelling and cussing to shut that person up. You feel like your in a prison. I've not had a decent night sleep since I've been here. The sheets they give you to sleep on are disgusting, stains, holes, and worn thin. The food for dinner is no better then dog food. There is so much more that I can say about this place, but I feel like it would take to much of my time to write it all. If your looking for a safe shelter look somewhere else, and good luck. Shelters are just money makers for the organization.
I haven't personally stayed at this shelter but I know people who have and it's not always the safe haven it's cracked up to be. There is physical violence amongst residents and you are not allowed to leave unless you have a vehicle or a ride to and from the place. Don't leave your personal items there , they will lose your stuff
