C’era Una Volta Relais molto bello situato in un antico borgo medievale molto suggestivo con vista panoramica sulle splendide distese di verde dell’Umbria. La struttura è arredata con eleganza e si allinea perfettamente con il periodo storico del borgo rendendo il soggiorno unico nel suo genere. Le camere sono ben tenute (alcune ristrutturate recentemente) e molto pulite oltre che curate. Il personale sempre disponibile e gentile (siamo rientrati intorno mezzanotte e la coppia di amici che era con noi ha avuto problemi con un cattivo odore proveniente dalla loro stanza che gli è stata cambiata nonostante fossero tutte prenotate le stanze pronte all’uso). Rapporto qualità/prezzo molto buono considerando anche la presenza di due piscine a disposizione degli ospiti.

Don't go to a restaurant We assume that the structure deserves. A medieval village still in time. Sure, the structure is not new so don't expect luxurious and technological rooms but everything fits, that's also the beauty of this place! SORE NOTE: the restaurant. Do you want to wait 1 hour for a starter? Would you like to order one wine and receive another? Want to see 2 out of 3 waiters who don't know how to clear? Do you want to hear a waiter say “I only cleared half”? Do you want to have, as a table neighbor, the receptionist who eats dumplings (like us) but has twice the portion? Do you want to eat packaged dumplings? Do you want to eat a cut ordered at 21:05 and received (as a second course) at 22:28? Do you want to eat a slightly (but slightly eh) salty cut? Wanting to order wines without a wine list (because it is Member Update) then order without knowing the price? Ecco siate nel posto giusto!!! Ah here, I add that € 20 for a cold cuts board or € 20 for packaged dumplings seems too much. The cutting board has 8 (repeat 8) slices of cold cuts and 2 bruschetta. Review the menu downwards or raise quality and service.

Our experience Beautiful and charming location more than we expected. We found at the entrance helpful staff who illustrated the various services offered by the structure. The bathrooms inside the room were dated and ruined by limestone. Room clean and with everything you need for a good stay. Food service definitely to be reviewed. Prices disproportionate to the quality and quantity offered. Very long service times. If it wasn't for the food service, I'd pay for the service offered.

Jewel The structure is overall very nice. The small village with its common areas, the two swimming pools, the terrace with a view and the restaurant are all a gem. Maybe the rooms, or at least the one I stayed in, need some touches and a little more attention, but overall the value for money is definitely in favor of excellent quality for the price paid. The room and bathroom were still very spacious and pretty, clean and well equipped. All the friendly, professional staff and the (presumed) manager often around to check. The restaurant really nice and with great dishes. Excellent starting point to visit Umbria, but also to relax in nature. It was difficult to leave him and return to everyday life. I hope to return soon.

A real castle relaxing stay. This relais has a magical setting, high up on the hill and the building is an original 500-600 year old town that they have converted into a castle full of rooms and seperate apartments. We stayed only one night with our two young children in a classic room and it was very comfortable. We were shown a superior room that was just beautiful and spacious with a lovely Juliet window looking over the castle piazza. We only chose the classic as it had an upgraded air conditioner on a 36 degree day otherwise we would have loved to stay in the superior. The price is exceptionally reasonable, of course the rooms are not contemporary as they are decorated more old fashioned to fit in with the aesthetic of the castle. Hubby and the kids had a marvellous swim in the lovely pool that overlooks a view beyond unbelievable, while I watched with a few lovely vinos the bar had on offer. Breakfast has plenty to choose from and is also on the terrace with this picturesque view. Staff were friendly at all times. Check in and check out were easy. You definitely need a car to get here. We would love to come back next time for a few more days to enjoy the castle and area more.

Perfect for wedding We planned our wedding at the Relais il Canalicchio with close family and friends. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience, very clean rooms, good breakfast, good options at the restaurant, lovely 360 views. Francesca thoughtfully helped us plan our wedding taking care of all the requests we had and helping with menu, flowers, music. She was very nice to have a couple of videocalls with us prior to the wedding in order to meet and discuss all the details. She even helped us with flowers, music etc. The rooms were lovely, the terraces had a great view, the tower room was also nice, only we had a bit of bad luck as the night prior to the wedding there was a big thunderstorm that caused a minor flood in the tower room which led to an electrical power failure and caused a delay in the wedding schedule. The staff was very friendly, especially one of the waiters named Hamza who was really cool and tried to accommodate all our requests, despite his superior, a woman named Sandra, who did not want to serve us after midnight and was rude to us repeatedly, even though we did not make any disturbance. Would recommend booking a couple of days here for your special event or for a retreat get-away.

Fantastic stay Fantastic hope. The property is beautiful. You eat both breakfast and dinner super well. There are two swimming pools. The habitat had two spaces so if you could be very comfortable. The views are spectacular and easy to go anywhere.

Good but improveable I stayed at this property for an overnight stay with breakfast. We had a great time, the place is very nice and charming. But some things can be improved. Very nice the two pools in particular the small one which is particularly panoramic. From it you can enjoy a view over the entire valley really wonderful especially at sunset. Beautiful also the outdoor spaces with terraces overlooking the Valley. The interior spaces instead have some small things to fix. Nothing to say about the common areas that are very nice though for example the interior doors that overlook the rooms are quite old and need to be fixed. Our room was a triple, in fact it was a suite because there were two separate rooms with a bathroom, and it was very spacious. But the interior door of the bathroom was very difficult to open and the bathroom taps quite old. In particular the shower sprayed badly. Finally regarding breakfast this would definitely need to be improved, because not up to a 4 star hotel. Non-quality cold cuts and frozen croissants. I also didn't like the hot drinks dispensed by the automatic machine. I think that with a few small tricks, such as a bit of local products and some homemade desserts, the breakfast proposal would definitely have been of a different level. Overall a nice relais, with a valid proposal in particular regarding the location and common areas. I would recommend it even if I believe some things need to be improved

Charming village We stayed one night in this enchanting village, we wanted to relax and we looked for a farmhouse on the web, it's the first time that reality exceeds expectations! The road to get there is very panoramic, we went up slowly to enjoy the landscape, entering the village seems to enter another era, large car park embellished with well-kept plants and vegetation, I had already felt the kindness of the staff on the phone, from the girls at the reception, the ladies on the floors, waiters etc.. they gave us one of the nicest rooms, even though I had booked a classic, because I had asked if they had a room with both a bathtub and a shower. New, clean, fragrant room, comfortable bed and quality linen, fake fireplace, spectacular bathroom, sanitary fixtures separated from the area of the two sinks, walk-in shower with colored lights and adjacent brick tub with mosaic. They gave us the opportunity to have lunch even though we hadn't booked, excellent lunch and dinner, the menu has a choice between two first courses and two second courses but it changes every two days and they are also available to accommodate different requests as far as possible. The waiter Hazman (I hope I wrote well) was very polite and professional, he recommended and explained the dishes to us, the raw materials are local and I must say that everything was excellent. Ditto for breakfast, the tea corner is delicious. We had all meals on the closed veranda, being able to choose the table, with a wonderful view of the valley. It has two swimming pools, one with a hydromassage, unfortunately the weather wasn't great so only my husband had the courage to take a bath! There is also a billiard room and other rooms and verandas with sofas for reading, chatting and relaxing. I would recommend this place both to unwind for a weekend and for a longer break as a base to then visit other places in the surrounding area, Umbria is a beautiful region😍
