beautiful selection of reasonably priced vintage costume jewelry and fine jewelry, all displayed aesthetically rather than being overstuffed and overwhelming. if you've been to a vintage market in nyc, you know what vintage costume jewelry can go for and the prices here are better. i can't believe i had never been here before but i already can't wait to go back
I have been a frequent customer of Pippin’s for nearly 3 years, sharing the store with others to promote it. I have purchased several items in my years shopping there. I unfortunately will not be returning as my most recent visit was met with biased and insulting service. When I asked to see any available scarves, Steve refused to show me any, stating they were too “expensive,” assuming I wouldn’t want to see them. I asked to see them regardless, and when I found one I liked, he refused to sell it to me as he had failed to price the item. He then said the scarf could be “$8 or $24,” prices that certainly are not too “expensive” to display or sell to me. I requested to be contacted when the price was determined, to no avail. In my years of shopping at Pippin I have never received such service. Perhaps Steve prefers to narrow who can shop at his store. If you are a young woman of color like me, I suggest shopping elsewhere.

Dear Gabriella, we’d like to apologize for this grave misunderstanding. We used to carry designer scarves in the past, but not anymore. We have 4 drawers in our store with $8 scarves, and sometimes we bring designer scarves from the back on occasion for sale, if we have any in stock. The scarf you were eyeing was a higher price mainly due to its collectability, and at the time we weren’t 100% done with our research and pricing. We apologize for not getting back to you sooner with its details. For 21 years, we have provided a vintage store meant for everyone, with price points from $12. to $35,000., always with the intent to be as welcoming to all as possible. We never meant to offend you, and any pricing discussed was certainly not on your ability to purchase, but rather related to our inventory. We’re happy to hear in your 3 years of shopping with us you’d never been unsatisfied with your visit, so please accept our sincerest apologies. We hope in the future you will shop with us once again. - Stephen (owner)
Incredibly rude!! Be warned! The manager verbally accosted me and told me that you cannot even be on the phone at this shop. Not even at a hushed volume like I was. News flash…this is a jewelry store, not a spa or a library. The fact that they would have this absurd policy baffles the mind. Especially since I was literally on the phone with the person who wanted the piece of jewelry. Nope, you aren’t even allowed to describe a piece of jewelry to someone over the phone without being aggressively and over the top rudely treated. What a joke. If you are allowed to be on the phone at Tiffany’s, then you should also be allowed to be on the phone here. Will absolutely never be back again.

Pippin has no such rule. Staff are unable to recall any such instance. If this happened, we apologize. If not, and this is an AI generated attack, using your account, please confirm.
Absolutely ridiculous. This bleach blonde female staff laughed at my budget, and pushed only overpriced stuff. I just wanted to see the items I’d already scoped out within my price range, but she mocked the options as “low quality” (why are you even selling them then??) and ask me to raise my budget by 50%
Felt judged for just shopping within my means. Used to be one of my favorites but def never coming back.
Pippin vintage was very responsive, helpful and professional. It was an absolute pleasure purchasing from them and I would highly recommend them to others. The antique jewelry world is filled with arrogant and rude dealers. It is refreshing and such a delight to find a store with impeccable taste and service. Thank you Pippin Vintage.
