Creative and imaginative take on a complex topic The author deftly takes the reader on a vivid journey through the business concept of agile transformation using the metaphor of open ocean sailing. This clever literary mechanism is coupled with references to other business concepts including SCRUM, Shu-Ha-Ri and the 3R’s to weave together a cohesive and engaging roadmap for business leaders to navigate this prescient topic.

Makes Learning Agility Fun and Easy "Lost in the Ocean of Agility" brings a fresh and exciting look into how businesses can become more agile, using a fun story about the sea to explain its ideas. The book is unique because it talks about agility in a way that's easy to understand, comparing it to sailing on different kinds of ships. It teaches that being flexible and focusing on results is important for businesses today. The author mixes good advice with stories, making it easier to grasp the ideas of agility. This book is especially useful for people who want to learn about being agile in a simple and engaging way. While the book is creative and offers a new way of looking at business agility, some readers wish it had clearer lessons and examples from real life or made-up companies to make the ideas stand out more.Overall, it's a great introduction to business agility, perfect for young readers or anyone new to the topic, suggesting that businesses need to keep changing their plans to succeed. It's recommended for its imaginative approach and clear message, even though it could have provided more detailed examples.

Great take on business transformation While not overly lengthy or laden with examples, this book delivers a clear message regarding business transformation. I enjoyed the breakdown of different methodologies that business leaders can often find themselves stuck in and the illustrative examples of how to change from those methodologies. For anyone seeking a concise entry-level type overview of creating business agility, this is a great starter before diving into content with perhaps more specific examples. I would recommend this to anyone in business who is working on agility concepts and trying to figure out why the same old methods are no longer working.

Very creative book with three methods explained in the area of shipbuilding This book had to be very fun for the author to write, as it is very creative! One of the biggest challenges in writing, a creative book is making sure is the book is extremely clear as far as messaging. For the most part, the author did a very good job on this, and he used interesting analogies such as “the sea of entrepreneurship cannot be controlled but it can be experienced.“ as applied to the areas of ship building with three methods. What I gained the most was how important preparation is, but also how crucial flexibility is as we draw on our experience. The author even uses the three methods of his book, and helping us understand the process of writing a review in the back of the book. Very creative! I would like a little bit more of a clear take away for those who did not follow every analogy in the book.

Navigating Complexity with Insight, Yet Yearning for More René Schröder's book stands out as a compelling guide through the turbulent waters of business agility. Drawing from over two decades of experience, Schröder masterfully outlines the hidden challenges and opportunities within agile transformation, making complex concepts accessible and engaging. His metaphorical journey across the seas of business agility offers a fresh perspective on adapting to market changes and overcoming organizational inertia. However, while the book excels in providing a broad overview of agility, it leaves the reader wishing for a deeper dive into the practical application of these principles. The foundational knowledge is there, painted in broad strokes, but the specifics on how to implement these strategies within a business context are somewhat lacking. More detailed case studies or step-by-step guidance would have greatly enhanced its utility as a handbook for real-world application. Nonetheless, "Lost in the Ocean of Agility" is a valuable read for anyone looking to understand the essence of agility in today's fast-paced business environment. A bit more depth would have transformed this from a good to an indispensable resource for those seeking to navigate the complexities of agile transformation.

I always enjoy a good "Captain of the ship" metaphor such as this book presents. I liked the ships traveling through the waters of life metaphorically, and the images of three ships going in different directions were entertaining. I was expecting more details or depth but it's a pretty brief overview at 45 pages and needs development of some basically good ideas. Fix the typos.

Interesting analogies! Really a great idea to avoid being stuck in a rut. A bit over the top with maritime analogies, but still a great idea to use them for mental agility for success in business as well as personally. Interesting read!

Excellent guide to leadership and management. I've been in business management for over forty years. Along the way, I have engaged in many seminars and training and development, which includes many books to inspire leadership and management. This book will certainly be a guide point for future discussions on being agile, adaptive, and ready to navigate the world of ever changing business because of the disruption of e-commerce and I.T., an excellent guide to leadership and management. Loved the comparison to maritime activity.

Good overall, but more depth would have been appreciated. “The lesson here is clear: true seaworthiness – and true business success – do not come from a ‘random’ set of concepts, but rather comes from continuously generating experience within the organization and following the Shu-Ha-Ri principle.”I found this book well worth the read. This book uses sailing to explain how to run a business, which I found interesting. I liked the part about the Shu Ha Ri philosophy in the second path among the three discussed. However, I wish the book was longer and went into more detail about how to put everything it talks about into practice in a business. It gives a broad perspective, but more specifics would have been helpful for practical use. Overall, it’s a good read, but more depth would make it even better for a detailed guidance on business practices.
