🚨 Ottawa Homeowners – BEWARE! 🚨 I had a terrible experience with Ottawa Deck Builder's and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. Phil took my order, then sent two workers who don’t speak English and couldn’t answer a single question. Every time I asked about the job, they said: “I don’t know, call Phil.” The deck was built with errors and poor workmanship, and when I asked Phil to fix the mistakes, he completely ignored me. No follow-up, no accountability. If you’re in Ottawa and want to see the mess for yourself, feel free to reach out to me. Don’t waste your money like I did! ✅ Avoid Ottawa Deck Builder's Company at all costs. To his reply Hello, That statement is not accurate. I am a real customer, and the project in question was completed by your team. Specifically, you had two trade workers on site who did not understand English, which made communication extremely difficult and contributed directly to the issues experienced during the project. The concerns raised in the review are based on my actual experience and are valid. Rather than dismissing the feedback, I would appreciate it if you acknowledged these issues and addressed them appropriately. If you would like to verify the details, I am open to discussing the project further. Thank you.

We obtained a quote and chose Ottawa Deck Builders to resurface our large deck with composite mainly because their address is in our area and we like to support local businesses. Their quote/agreement was clear and easy to understand. It provided for a reasonable deposit with instalment payments as the project progressed. We are extremely satisfied with the work done. The project started as expected and was done as per the quote. Phil and his team were professional, polite and respectful of our property. They showed up on time and worked all day. Ottawa Deck Builders ( Phil, Brandon and team) did an excellent job renovating my more than 20-year-old above ground pool deck. I asked them to finish the project by the end of May to use swimming season in full, and Phil and his team finished it on time and within budget. I expected to get just renovated deck, but they improved some constructive solutions and now my deck is much better than before – more comfortable and looks better. Professional, reliable, and committed to quality—an excellent team. It was a great experience working with Phil and his crew. Everything went as planned on time and budget. Phil built a deck for myself and my sister that leaks. It started leaking within the first year (2023) and he won't even come out to look at it. It's under warranty and he is ignoring that. The project was significantly delayed because of a custom window (++ cost increase) at the top that never came and was substituted with a make shift item that doesn't fit. Parts of the deck are actually missing from the outset. I would not recommend using this company for any work.

To my knowledge, we never had direct communication during the project, as all coordination was done through your sister, who was the main point of contact throughout. The work involved refacing an existing deck and frame, and the custom window you referenced was part of a sunroom component provided by a different company. I assisted in coordinating that portion, but the product itself and associated costs were managed separately.

As for the warranty and any issues with the deck, I’ve remained in communication with your sister and am open to addressing any outstanding concerns directly with her. I would appreciate it if you could reconsider your review, as it does not reflect the full context or the quality of service we aim to provide.

I coordinated refinishing the second floor decks for 6 homes in our Home Owners Association this April (2025). The service provided by Ottawa Deck Builders was stellar! Phil, the owner, is super knowledgeable about anything deck/pergola related and the team that worked with him were some of the hardest working contractors I've seen. They actually showed up when they said they would and finished ahead of schedule in some pretty tough weather conditions! I'm very picky and detailed oriented...Phil was on top of it. Everything was as specified and the end result were beautiful decks with amazing mineral composite boards. All 6 of us love these new decks. We are so impressed with the team that we will for sure be contacting them with respect to a much larger pergola project for up to 15 homes.

Excellent deck company. Ottawa Deck Builders replaced an old deck for us last summer and we couldn't be happier. They gave us creative design ideas to suit our space. The crew are kind and courteous and super hard working even in the stifling heat of the summer. They always left the property tidy at the end of the day and took great care not to damage the lawn and garden. I wouldn't hesitate to have these lovely people back for another project.
