Lachy and Mat were very professional installing the roller shutters. They had good communication, were friendly, and cleaned up after the work was done. I did need to ring to see when the remeasure was happening as it was a week after the original 3 week waiting period, but then the installer came later that same day. I’d also had a change of mind about the colour of the shutters, the day after Ryan the salesman had been to the house, so contacted customer service and the Operations Manager said he would make sure the change was made. And it was. Great job, very pleased, thank you.
I had the guys from Open and Shut install 5 roller shutters on my newly installed windows. The experience was floorless from the initial booking to the measure and quote, final measure and install. All staff were very professional, on time, polite and cleaned up all mess before leaving. The final product looks fantastic and the remote function is awesome.
I would highly recommend Open and Shut to anyone!
Great products and good workmanship, but poor listening skills. Just make sure their consultant listens carefully and understands what product you want and read the quotation before signing (otherwise you'll end up with a product you didn't ask for, just like we did).

All samples presented during the consultation were Roller Blind samples. The signed quotation and contract clearly specified Roller Blinds in the selected colour prior to manufacture and installation.
To avoid any confusion, we provide all customers with written quotations and contracts so there is a clear record of the agreed product before work proceeds.

We would like to thank open and shut repair / maintaince team for there fantastic work not only did they fix a small problem but they also fixed the original problem with light coming through our shutters which the original installer could not work out what the problem was blamed it on the light coming in from outside which only he needed to install an extra slat in thanks again and a happy customer 😀
Open N Shut are a great South Australian (YAY!) company. Very high service delivery and quality of product. I have used them for outdoor and indoor blinds...very happy! So nice to have efficient, polite, friendly and professional tradesmen in my home. Couldn't recommend them any higher.

We were delighted with the initial response from Open n Shut when I explained that we only needed to have one window covered, other companies either didn’t want to do the job or were up to $500 dearer! The young man came out and explained how the shutters were locally made, did a measure and quote on the spot and left it with us to decide if we wanted it. We went ahead and after paying the money, an installer came out with an assistant and within an hour or two the job was done. From the beginning the young men were very easy to work with, very polite and I can’t fault the workmanship. They arrived when they said they would and cleaned up everything before they left. We would be happy to recommend Open n Shut to anyone!

AVOID. Inconsistent pricing and poor management.
I had a terrible experience with Open N Shut. After cancelling two doors a month before measurement, the company provided zero transparency on the revised costs. I had to chase them multiple times for a breakdown, only to be charged the full original price for 7 items when only 5 were installed. After disputing, they lowered the price by way less than the two doors were worth. The math made no sense.
While the installers and employees were nice, the GM was dismissive and rude, eventually stone-walling the conversation and refusing to reconcile the math. He showed no interest in helping, only in taking the money. I even went to CBS, only to be told that companies like them can essentially change their pricing on services and products however they feel. Real ethical.
I regret choosing this company. There are many others out there that provide the same service with actual transparency and communication. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

To clarify for anyone reading: the business only 'adjusted' the invoice after I caught them attempting to charge the full original price for 7 items when only 5 were actually installed.
Most importantly, while this response claims you are ‘open to resolving this,’ your General Manager made it explicitly clear in writing that he would ‘not engage further’ and refused to help once your pricing logic was questioned.
Your 'detailed breakdown' still values a premium X-Guard door at roughly $705, while charging $1,230 for a standard sliding door. That is not transparency; it is inconsistent math that was never provided in a revised quote before installation. It is disappointing that the professionalism shown in this public reply does not match the dismissive treatment I received privately from management.

We understand there is a disagreement regarding how the adjusted figures were calculated. We provided detailed breakdowns and made multiple attempts to explain the pricing and resolve the matter professionally.
As this matter has been referred to Consumer and Business Services South Australia, we are cooperating fully and will provide all documentation for independent review.
