Just moved to Boston hoping to find an experience similar to running stores in other cities (like Fleet Feet).
I wanted to buy Brooks Glycerine shoes in my size. I love these shoes and have three pairs of the older ones. To my surprise, the gentlemen with the dark beard said they don’t typically carry my size and basically discouraged me from buying shoes there. It was weird - he was reluctant to check and seemed like he’d rather help other customers. Pretty weird experience overall.
I’d rather buy from Heartbreak Hill or honestly Brooks online store for a superior customer service experience.
Had a pretty weird experience here, unfortunately. A friendly employee talked me through a foot scan, after which he sort of… walked away? I wasn’t initially offered help with shoes or fittings after the scan. It wasn’t until I started trying to find shoes myself that a different employee offered to help me find a pair. We spent ten minutes on an additional foot scan, talking through the same information again. She was initially very friendly and I was appreciative. She pulled a few pairs for me in a size that I didn’t expect, and gave me guidance on fittings that I’d never heard before from another shoe store. I was surprised but complied with the shoes she brought. Until this point we had a pretty positive dynamic. Once I started asking her pretty standard questions about how the shoes should fit, as I felt they were the wrong size, she became defensive and markedly dropped the friendliness. I asked to try smaller sizes and she seemed outwardly frustrated with me, and I assured her that I trusted her professional opinion. By the end of my shopping experience, she pretty much stopped talking to me. I felt that I was also pressured into considering buying socks and inserts, which I resisted politely as my budget is limited. I ended up getting a pair of shoes that I wasn’t sure about, feeling so awkward and almost apologetic after our interaction. I apologized to the employee multiple times for questioning her professional opinion. It’s pretty clear to me that the shoes are the wrong size for me and still feel a little flabbergasted by the customer service experience. I’ll be going to a different Marathon Sports location to exchange them.

Expert, excellent service! Three cheers for Ned who fitted both my son and me with just the right shoe for very different needs. I had never had my foot scanned or my gait observed before- my goals are stability & comfort while walking. My son, a runner, was given the same excellent service, with a far different focus. We both purchased shoes, and I bought insoles as well. Extremely happy with our interaction with Ned & our purchases.

John helped my wife and me pick out shoes. The foot scan machine, along with John's insights, was an eye-opener. Will definitely come back again.

Awesome store with a great selection of shoes and friendly staff. I came here looking for a replacement for Nimbus 23, and got help from Will (tysm!), who immediately offered a few nice options; I ended up getting Brooks Ghost 17 and am very happy with it.

HUGE shoutout to John for helping me try on a bunch of different shoes—he was the greatest. I went in thinking I was going to stick with Brooks, but switch from the Ghost to the Glycerin for running, but I ended up loving the ASICS he brought out. He also gave some recommendations for gels and talked through a bunch of them. Really knowledgeable guy and even though I didn’t buy any new sneakers (still riding out my old ones), I would definitely stop in because they have a machine that will analyze your foot structure and everything!

I love this store! I’ve been coming here for years to get my running sneakers and I always have such a great experience. If you’re looking for running sneakers in the Boston area, this is the place to get them!
Yesterday I was under a time crunch and only had 10 minutes to get my new pair of sneakers. In that 10 minutes, Matty gave me an analysis of my feet, his recommendations for sneakers, and I left with a new pair of sneakers and socks.
He was so helpful on his recommendations and what would work best for my feet. He was so kind and was able to work with me under my tight time constraints. I’ll always get my running shoes here because I always have such an amazing experience! I love my new sneakers!

Quite a rude staff member greeted us asking us not to play with the gait measuring device after having been in the store for a bit! She could have politely let us know that but she chose to be rude! Will not be shopping here.

I had a great experience buying sneakers here! I was nervous to go in because I am not a runner but everyone was super welcoming and happy to help find shoes for walking and going to the gym. Ned helped me find the right sneakers after scanning my feet and analyzing my gate. He also helped me find inserts for the shoes. Ned was super knowledgeable and seemed genuinely happy to help me find the right shoe.

I have had a pair of running sneakers for several years but the style I wore is no longer made.
