A nice little pub restaurant attached to a hotel, food was very good, staff super friendly, atmosphere a little lacking but I was there out of holiday season, so was quite, but would recommend if you're in the area

A traditional olde world pub a few miles south of Lyndhurst in the heart of the New Forest. It's worth the trip as the isolated location is part of the charm. The food we enjoyed at lunch was excellent and the young staff were superb.

Can't fault the staff in this place. We were perfectly looked after by every single staff member. All very cheery, friendly and polite. Makes a nice change. Wasn't perfect though. The pool floor and surround needs a good clean - bit grubby and gritty. The sign at the shallow end that says 0.6m and the other one 6m...that might not end well for someone! The rooms are OK but there are as others have said little tweaks that could make it a lot better. They're a bit tired in places. The blinds were a bit lopsided in our room. There was condensation in the double glazing I think, which kind of spoilt the view and the rooves outside the windows could do with a sweep to get rid of all the fallen twigs and grub. Nice bar and lounge area to sit and chill. The pie I had for dinner was one of the best I've ever eaten and the portions were decent. The 4x courgette fritters for £8 however, were very disappointing. Either uo the amount, or drop the price. Bit naughty!

We had a voucher for Afternoon tea and decided to visit Bartley Lodge. We were surprised that we had never been aware of this hotel, which is in a great location on the edge of the New Forest. It was a lovely building and appeared well maintained with nice gardens. It was very quiet, however the staff were very welcoming and the Afternoon tea was delicious. My wife was particularly impressed with the gluten free alternatives. A very pleasant afternoon.

Came here for a tea and coffee, lovely place, comfy and inviting space, staff very welcoming and beautiful gardens would be very nice in the summer

We stayed here on Feb 27 and 28, and unfortunately, it was a very frustrating experience. For two days straight, we had no hot water and no heating. What made it worse was the total lack of communication from the hotel; we weren't notified of the issues at check-in or throughout our stay. To top it off, despite the advertised breakfast time ending at 10:30 AM, we were told the chef had left by 10:00 AM. It’s a lovely location, but the lack of basic facilities and management oversight made this a stay I wouldn't recommend

This is a lovely venue with friendly, helpful staff and lovely surroundings. I attended a wedding which went very well, however, I was appalled at the condition of the kitchen used for the wedding. Some attention was needed!

We have stayed here many times and it comes highly recommended. There is a small swimming pool and the rooms are nice and cosy. Location is fantastic for getting to places but also for getting that in the middle of nowhere feeling.

We had a Virgin Experience voucher for afternoon tea. We were told the hotel was dog friendly, but when we arrived we were told we were not allowed in the Orangery where everyone else were having their afternoon tea. Instead we were put by ourselves in a corridor well away from everyone else. The coffee was not very nice and the tea was just ok. The sandwiches were ok apart from one that was just cucumber (seems a cheap option). Cakes were nice but the scones were mis-shaped, large and a bit dry. We felt isolated and service was poor. Also the lady on reception was unwelcoming and we heard her talking about us to the waiter about us not telling her we had a dog.

We had a genuinely lovely stay at Bartley Lodge Hotel, perfectly located in the heart of the New Forest. Our trip was centred around a visit to Paultons Park, and the hotel proved to be an ideal base, peaceful, convenient, and a welcome retreat after a full day out. The grounds are picturesque and tranquil, the room was comfortable and well presented, and the team were warm, attentive, and clearly committed to delivering a great guest experience. Breakfast was fresh and well organised, and the overall atmosphere balanced relaxed countryside charm with a touch of refinement. If you’re planning a visit to Paultons Park and want somewhere calm to recharge, this is an excellent choice. We would happily return.

The average for this hotel is about 3.9 currently and that feels about right. The house is pretty Grand and the food is definitely a positive (beer battered fish and excellentpeed), however, it really lacks atmosphere. It was really noticeable that it did not feel like there was any one person in charge and in fact it was as if no one was in charge. There was one notable member of staff who was very enthusiastic and friendly and had the air of someone who was genuine about working in hospitality which is ultimately about service but he stood out against the rest of the staff who really felt like they were under duress. They were all without exception, lovely people but it felt like morale was low Value for money wise, it does feel about right and if you were taking away someone for a special weekend, then this place would work but you will probably only go once It is family friendly and dog friendly and there is a pool which would have worked quite well if we had brought the kids
