First of all, I want to be very clear. The food here is absolutely amazing. I love it and I would eat it much more often if the other side of things was fixed.
This is a reoccurring issue I have had with this location since I started eating here. The employees make great food, but either have absolutely zero social skills or absolutely hate interacting with people. They never deviate from the script, they have trouble appearing human while they communicate, and everything you say outside of responding to their "what protein would you like/would you like everything on it" is met with blank stares or a vibe that they really wish you would just shut up and move along.
This most recent experience occurred today at around 445 (im sure yall could figure out who i was, i dont care). The lady that made my food just seemed like she was incredibly annoyed that I wasn't completely ready to go with my order the second I stepped up to the counter. Then, the dude checking me out acted like I was clinically insane for clarifying that I would get bag with my order and then stared at me awkwardly as I grabbed it, expecting him to say thank you, or bye, or something. I genuinely don't know how to describe it. It's bizarre. And it's happened with this crew and other crews that are here (I live down the corner and eat here 1-2x a month).
I hate to be that guy, but whoever runs this place needs to understand that talking to the employees here is like pulling teeth. The food is great but I can get similar quality food at a million different places around town, and those people at least pretend to be happy to serve me. I would love to be a more loyal customer, but I literally dread interacting with most people that I have to talk to here.
To recap :
Food = great
Customer service = meh
Employees = they really hate talking to you
I placed my own pick up order from Piada through door dash. After realizing that I placed my order to wrong location I called Piada (this location) and explained the issue to the guy that ans the phone. He confirmed my name and stated that he understood the problem and that they would cancel my order and that I would receive a refund. I then followed up by calling doordash and explained to them the issue. They were no help at all and basically said that there was nothing they could do. I the escalated the situation and got the same answer from the doordash manager. I THEN called the store back and started to then that doordash wouldn't not cancel the order on theire end so I was calling back to make sure the store canceled it on their end. I got the same guy again when calling back he pulled the manger and she stated they were canceling the order right then and there and I should see a refund. I waited over an hour for the canceled notification and never received it! I called a co worker that was working from home on that side of town and asked her to go get the food. Upon her arrival she was told by the manager that my order was canceled in their system. I then received a notification saying that Piada marked my order as COMPLETED! I called doordash explaining that the order was never picked up and that they were canceling my order and they said it was unfortunately nothing they could do because the store was no longer answering the phone. So not o n ly did I not get to eat for lunch, my $13 also went to waist.
I stopped by this Piada location in Carmel with my daughter while waiting for a Walgreens prescription. We usually go to the Piada at Keystone at the Crossing, so I expected the same level of service. As soon as we walked in, no one greeted us. The staff was talking among themselves and didn’t acknowledge us at all.
When we finally placed our order, one of the young men said to give them a minute. I told him I wanted fresh noodles because the food that was already out looked like it had been sitting for a while. The food station did not look clean or organized. It was messy, and the noodles looked old.
Instead of making new noodles, he added fresh ones on top of the old ones, leaving some hanging over the side of the pan. My daughter politely asked if he could remove the noodles that were hanging and touching the counter, and the worker gave her a bad attitude as if we had asked for something unreasonable.
Overall, the experience was disappointing. The customer service was poor, the professionalism was lacking, and the sanitation was unacceptable. I would not recommend this location.
While I did really enjoy my entree, it was a little disappointing that my protein primarily consisted of whatever crumbs were in the bowl that they dumped into my carbonara.. and not an actual measured amount. I think there were two pieces of chicken? Definitely not worth the $3 add on.. or the $15 cost of the entire entree.

Nathan, Thank you for your feedback. We're happy to hear you enjoyed your entree, but I apologize for the issue with the protein portion. Please send me your email address and I will send you something to compensate for the poor quality protein. I look forward to hearing from you soon. mshope@thepiadagroup.com
