Came on a Saturday and it wasn't busy. Parking can be tough if you can't score one of the metered spots on the main street. We tried the hot bread pudding (ube) with vanilla ice cream. That was the crowd favorite and a great hot & cold dessert. We also tried their ube ice cream with crushed oreos on top. For drinks, we got their thai tea, ube latte, dirty ube latte (comes with coffee), and matcha. The drinks are on the sweeter side, especially mixed with other desserts, so bring a water bottle.
I've been coming to B Sweet for years to get my fix of the Sluttiest Brownie, so imagine my horror when I stopped by recently and they didn't have one.
Forced to explore other options, I ordered the Ooey Gooey Butter Bar and a chocolate brownie bar instead. And honestly? They can do no wrong.
I was especially shocked by how much I loved the Ooey Gooey Butter Bar. As someone who usually gravitates toward anything involving large amounts of chocolate, I wasn't expecting to fall for a dessert that didn't revolve around it. Yet there I was, happily eating every last bite and wondering where it had been all my life.
Everything I've had from B Sweet over the years has been consistently delicious. Rich, indulgent, and exactly the kind of treat that makes an ordinary day feel a little more special.
I also love seeing how they've grown. There used to be just the Sawtelle location, and now there are multiple locations spreading sweetness across LA.
A longtime favorite and one of the few places that has never let me down when dessert is involved.
Food:
It great to be back here after so many years!
I git the Ube Cheesecake and WOW its was so delicious! I live how they drizzle Ube syrup on top - a MUST TRY for ube lovers for sure!
Service:
The staff who served us was super nice and very helpful.
Ambience:
Still the same as the last time we were here many years ago. It was neat, clean and organize inside. Tables and seati g areas ate outside.
Parking:
Street parking only (metered) but good luck finding one especially on weekends.
Great atmosphere and vibe! Very colorful and nice decorated space. They utilized lots of violet color for ube and there were decor that emphasized filipino culture in a hip way.
Great variety of ube flavored filipino desserts and teas. They also had great service and we were recommended their best seller: the ube cheesecake and the jasmine tea.
The ube cheesecake was as their store name- sweet. I usually love sweet desserts and the cake itself was moist and had great flavor but the ube glaze on top was just TOO sweet and tasted like heavy pure sugar.
The jasmine tea was brewed well and is above average.
Good desserts and i would want to come bak to try other ube desserts and drinks!
One of my absolute favorites! I visited them for the first time years ago and now that I've been living in LA for the past few years, I have been able to visit them more often. They never disappoint with their desserts! When I am homesick, I love coming here. When I want to introduce people to flavors of the Philippines, I know this place delivers. Every. Time.
My personal favorites are the ube hot bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and buko pandan ice cream! I also have been a fan of many of their rotating flavors and on this most recent visit, I tried their senorita bread flavored pudding. Very very sweet but still tasty.
I live in the area, and have been visiting this establishment since they opened their storefront in 2014, but I will no longer be a regular customer of theirs.
Shockingly rude and unprofessional management. It's too wordy and long to write out the whole encounter on here, but know I submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau because of the strange and off-putting experience I had.
There are plenty of other delicious desserts around Sawtelle to frequent, with much friendlier and welcoming staff.
Thank you for reading.
Deserts! Came here before and ordered the Halo Halo. Twas good so I ordered it again. For those unfamiliar, halo halo or halo2 is a Filipino shaved ice desert that contains things like sweet beans, coconut slithers, garbanzo beans, coconut jelly, sago, gulaman, shaved ice, milk, and topped off with Ice Cream and some crispy toasted rice. Not sure the ingredients this place puts in but it does taste good! Cost isn't cheap but it's reasonable for this area and is a must try! They have other desserts too!
The inside is small enough that during busy times, there might be a line. Best bet is go in and eat out unless you can grab their storefront seats. But hey, this is Sawtell so just walk around.
Verdict - a must try and repeat as often as possible
Came on Saturday just after noon. There wasn't a line when I came in. Ordered a slice of strawberry matcha cake and friend got ube ice cream. The service was friendly and good. There's some seating outside in front of the store. It started to get busy after I went outside to eat.
The ube ice cream wasn't bad. The strawberry matcha cake had a very strong matcha flavor. It overpowered the cake flavor so all I could taste was matcha. Overall it was a good experience at this place.
Obsessed with this place. Very cute and clearly spacious, they offer outdoor seating in front of the store. Such a cute little desert spot.
As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the guy at the register and he was so kind and friendly. I originally wanted one of the bread puddings but it was sold out so I got the glazed donut one instead and an uber cheesecake and both were beyond tasty! I am stopping by on my next LA trip first thing!
B Sweet is the closest filipino dessert place to me and I can honestly say it doesn't disappoint! This and their sister restaurant place have never disappointed so far and I am so proud to support! My favorite thing to eat in B Sweet would be the Halo Halo, but sometimes it is too much for me to eat by itself, so I usually get Ube ice cream scoops! A lot of places don't do ube right, but this place is 100% authentic ube and makes the best ube ice cream! The workers are very friendly too, but my favorite thing about this place is that sometimes they host performers outside their store to play music, and it often ends up becoming a mini concert/performance for everyone to watch and enjoy!
Finally another visit to B Sweet, this is my go to dessert choice after dinner at Killer Noodle. I drove all the way down to LA today from Reno, NV, and this was a necessary stop before we got to our hotel.
All 4 of my family got the Ube Bread Pudding w/ Pandan Drizzle, and a scoop of ice cream. This was my family's first visit with me a they all loved it. Such a cool flavor pairing, and we ate so much food that we barely could make the walk back to the car... wish I lived closer and I would try some more flavors! Next time...
Special shout out to the decorations, this place always delivers on the ambiance, really cool Christmas decorations this time...
Hands down number 1 dessert stop in Japantown. We stopped in to B Sweet after dinner. The staff here are extremely friendly and welcoming. We all tried out the Ube Bread Pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and pandan drizzle. Wow! Talk about flavor explosion! This is for sure a must try for anyone around this area. This place is absolutely adorable, when you walk up you are greeted by bright blue lights out front and inside is filled decked out in Christmas decor for the holiday season. I cannot wait to come back again.
Came here for dessert and surprisingly there was no line!
The menu can be overwhelming won't lie for a first timer, but once you know what flavors you want and the type of dessert, it's easy to navigate. I got ice cream thinking both the coffee cake and the ice cream would be small or average portions for me to combine the two and boy was I wrong. They give you two servings of ice cream (or what seemed like 2 servings) and the coffee cake is huge (and decadent!). Ordering one would have been sufficient. The malt ice cream was good, especially if you like malt. If you're thinking "oh i just want to try and see if I like it", get a different flavor or ask for a sample (if they do that there?) because you'll end up with a lot if you don't like it. To say the ube coffee cake was a lot is an understatement. The flavor of the ube is throughout the cake and there are walnuts which I wasn't expecting but did not mind. Seemed like there was condensed milk, which is you're familiar with Filipino food, is just the perfect combo. The size of the coffee cake is big but seemed gigantic to me even the flavor. It took me almost the entire week to eat it, and yes it is great with coffee in the morning :)
It's been a while since we've been here! Last time may also have been around Halloween time. The place is always nicely decorated around this time.
We just got the halo-halo to share. But oh, boy! It was soooo good!!! Service is good and the lady who helped us was very nice and truly very helpful answering my husband's questions:
Wish it's not that far from us, or we'd be here more often!
B sweet has so much potential. They have one of the best halo halos we have ever had. We actually loved all of the desserts we ordered.
The problem is the menu is a little overwhelming and confusing. I was with my daughters and it wasn't just me that felt this way.
Service was disappointing. The girl working the register was unwelcoming and did not greet us or offer any help whatsoever. She came off as annoyed that we decided to come in. We could be heard talking to each other and asking questions and she never felt inclined to answer us.
The young man that made our order was super friendly and courteous. He built our desserts and packed our to go items nicely. He kind of made up for her lack of enthusiasm but I was still pretty disappointed in my first experience here.
The restaurant itself is a little too dark and too busy looking. There is lots of seating outside available.
Again, there is so much potential here but I don't know that I would come back here.
