I booked a Montreal Craft Beer Tours experience for seven people more than five months in advance as the central event of a bachelorette weekend. Our group was travelling from Calgary specifically for this trip. The full cost (over $800) was charged months ago, and the booking was clearly confirmed.
Despite this, we were notified only four days before the scheduled tour that it was being cancelled. The only explanation provided was that one of the four breweries could no longer accommodate the tour. We were offered the option to postpone by one day, which was not feasible, as we already had other prepaid activities booked and would have lost our deposits if we changed plans.
This level of short notice is completely unacceptable, especially for a prepaid group booking requiring advance travel, accommodations, and coordinated planning (circumstances the company was fully aware of at the time of booking).
With just four days’ notice, finding a replacement group activity was extremely difficult over a long weekend. Fortunately, Montreal City Brew Tours stepped in and was incredibly responsive and accommodating, managing to coordinate a tour for us despite the last-minute request.
While a refund was offered, it does nothing to address the significant time, effort, and costs incurred in relying on a confirmed booking that was cancelled at the last minute. Montreal Craft Beer Tours held a substantial payment for five months and made no apparent effort to find an alternative brewery or provide meaningful assistance after the cancellation.
For a company that presents itself as an established tour operator, the lack of communication, accountability, and consideration for prepaid, out-of-town customers was deeply disappointing. A refund or gift card does not make up for cancelling a key event with virtually no notice.
Based on this experience, I would strongly not recommend Montreal Craft Beer Tours.
A must-do for beer lovers!
This tour was a high point of our visit to Montréal. Since the tour was just my husband and myself, our experience was completely personalized. Our guide, Julien, was fantastic! He matched the tastings to our preferences while providing a well rounded sampling. He shared brewing history along with Montréal specific points of interest. As we went from brewery to brewery, we walked through beautiful and lively neighborhoods. It was an afternoon of great nibbles, brews, and company.
Had a private tour with Gabriele for my bachelor party and it was a massive hit! The tour was in a fun part of town, the beer was delicious, the food was excellent, and gabriele was so knowledgeable, kind, and took great care of us. He taught us a lot about beer and Montreal and also gave us some great suggestions for the rest of our weekend. Would do this tour again in a heartbeat.
Its a sad situation that the same company had two tours organised for the same route at the same time... one with just 3 customers, one with 5.... it made no sense to split the groups,... some contention between the two guides led to a split that benefited nobody,... our tour of three was in dire need of some group social vibes,... our guide was struiggling to make it a jovial trip given only three attendees.... more thought required.
Fantastic brew tour! I had Francois as the host for my bachelor party and he was very accommodating, super friendly and knowledgeable about many topics (beer and history included). Even some funny jokes ;)
Highly recommend for anyone looking to try great local Montreal beers and learn about the craft 🍻
Merci Francois!!
Julian ftw
Awesome experience. Our guide Julian was great, and went out of his way to explain everything about the different microbreweries, the beers and the old French part of Montreal. When the tour ended we ended up drinking more drinks with our guide at Benelux, making the whole experience feel very special. We loved the dulce de leche cheese pairing 😘
Date of experience: 13 July, 2025
We had an excellent beer tour with our guide, Julian! He was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. If you're looking for a fun pub crawl experience this is the tour for you!
Very nice! Even more so if you are not from Montreal. Although I am from the city, we still discovered places and beers we never went and had before. I unfortunately don't remember the guides name but we had someone from Gaspésie with a trainee (I think his name was Antoine or Anthony). Anyways, really nice guys!!
