I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Michiana Tree Service (MTS). On May 21, 2025, MTS provided an estimate of $9,000 for a tree removal and requested a $2,000 deposit, which I paid promptly. MTS assured me that Michiana Tree Service would the staff the job.
However, on the day of removal, Michiana Tree Service never showed up. Instead, the work was subcontracted to Ark Tree Service for $7,000. Ark Tree Service did an outstanding job and I can totally recommend them. To be clear Michiana Tree Service did no work other than write up an estimate, then sub the job out and pocketed the $2,000.
This lack of transparency and professionalism is unacceptable. I feel misled and taken advantage of. I cannot recommend Michiana Tree Service to anyone looking for honest and reliable service.
I really wanted Michiana Tree Service to be a business I could use every year for tree trimming etc. Unfortunately, I spent $4000 finding out I would NEVER use them again and would encourage others to look elsewhere. I would give them five stars for initial responsiveness but one star for everything else. I was promised “we’ll get your trees down and put the logs in a neat pile in the woods”. Pictures are attached- you can see that’s far from the truth- and that was after I asked James to come back and do the job right (he had sent me photos of a messy job). The biggest issue is that, this spring as I was walking around the yard, I noticed a bunch of shattered glass around the stumps of the trees he took down. From a few of the larger pieces, there was information that made it easily identifiable that the glass was from a skid loader. (See pic) The type and location right where Michiana Tree Service took my trees down in the late fall. I texted James to ask him to come and clean it up- there’s literally shattered glass all over that area of my yard- and, I heard nothing. Quite the opposite from the guy who responded same day, posted a sign at the end of my driveway, and wanted payment within a few days. (Before I could get there to look at it) I learned a few lessons from this experience but, most importantly, I will never recommend Michiana Tree Service. There are a lot better options and I’m not quite sure how his other reviews were good- maybe not real? That might be another lesson.
I was running into an issue with insurance and needed to get of some limbs cleaned up last minute on the weekend. James and his team did an amazing job. I felt comfortable with them professionally on their knowledge of tree survivability with the work that needed to be done. Ultimately we took all 4 trees. Highly recommend!

Love this company use them for snow plowing service. And my brother had a tree removed with this company 5 stars and will definitely keep using them in the future

This company is amazing! I use them for snow plowing for my commercial property. The owner, Jim not only does a great job plowing he goes over and beyond for his clients. He calls or messages to make sure if I need service. I would absolutely recommend this company.

True experts. We had a complicated situation with 2 very old oaks in poor health. James and team explained everything thoroughly, including the limited options available. Ultimately, the trees fell precisely where we needed them to go. An ace job right when we needed it.

Great customer service at a reasonable price. Friendly people! After trees were removed and others trimmed, cleanup was top notch.

This is our first time using Michiana Tree Service and I cannot say enough about them. They came out sooner than expected to meet our building schedule and at a fair price. The clean up was perfect. Couldn’t even tell they removed a 40’ live tree which were around power lines. Would definitely use them again and would recommend them to anyone Thanks to you and your crew James for the great work!

Had a massive oak tree that was nothing but problems and needed removed. James came out explained everything gave me several different options. We decided to just remove the top. Took them awhile with lovely Michigan weather but definitely worth the wait! They did an excellent job and you can't even tell a tree was ever dropped in the yard. Excellent customer service and excellent clean up! Definitely using them for future tree services. Thanks again guys!

James and his crew are the best tree service you could ask for. I've used them twice this year for stump grinding and tree removal with having 30+ trees removed. They are very professional, good at communication, hard workers, and leave a very clean job site. I would highly suggest them for any tree service needs!

James and his guys are simply the best. Communication skills are wonderful, on time, friendly, go the extra mile, clean up, actually care!!! Just truly nice guys and the prices are good too!
