My 90-year-old mother just returned home after a 10 week stay at the Meadowbrook Care Center. I couldn’t wait to write a glowing review regarding her stay. The advanced therapy was second to none in helping her rehab after a femur, hip and knee replacement. The center was highly recommended by her entire orthopedic trauma team, and they did not steer us wrong. My mother’s recovery is largely credited to the competent and incredibly loving PT/OT staff, Jeanie and Damian. The care she received in her room on the second floor was excellent, thanks almost entirely to Jennifer Smith. She and my mom shared a bond because Jennifer is one of the most fiercely protective and selfless angels that ever worked with such a challenging population. Shout-outs to Christopher, Margarette, Lorraine, and Joan for outstanding service; always smiling, encouraging and compassionate. There is no better choice for rehabilitation than Meadowbrook.

My mother spent about two weeks at Meadowbrook Care Center for rehab of a shattered knee cap. The physical therapy she received was excellent. She enjoyed the social aspects like bingo and sing-a-longs. However, she was often made to wait long stretches of time after ringing for an aide to use the bathroom, so much so that she wet herself on one occasion. My mother is not incontinent, but was often asked if she wanted a diaper. Additionally, the staff was uncertain of Covid protocol guidelines and spent days in disagreement on what to do when my mother's roommate contracted Covid. The team of social workers were efficient and responded to our questions, inquiries and concerns.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, Eileen. We're glad to hear that your mother received excellent physical therapy and enjoyed the social activities during her time at Meadowbrook Care Center. However, we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delays in assistance and for the uncertainty surrounding Covid protocols. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we strive to continually improve our services and ensure the well-being of all our residents!

I am giving four stars to Meadowbrook to reflect only the caring nature of most of the people who work here. They clearly have a huge staffing shortage, however, and one must practice the utmost patience in order to have needs taken care of sooner than later. It's always later when they can get around to changing an incontinent patient, or helping in a thousand other ways when one who is bedridden simply can't do him or herself, and attentive family members can't take care of certain needs as well. Again, when they are by the bedside, almost all of the staff are absolutely wonderful. But it would be helpful to the workers here as well if the company would greatly increase the size of the staff so that the residents can get the attention that they need a whole lot quicker.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, Sue. We appreciate your acknowledgment of the caring nature of our dedicated staff at Meadowbrook Care Center. Your insights about staffing challenges are noted, and we understand the importance of timely assistance for our residents. We're actively working to address these concerns and enhance the overall experience. Thank you for choosing Meadowbrook Care Center!

My Aunt has been there for a little over 2 weeks for PT due to a fractured ankle. She is alert, oriented and continent. She’s able to make her needs known. They make her urinate and move her bowels in a diaper and sits like that for hours sometimes waiting to be changed. I am a healthcare professional and I’m starting to see skin breakdown because of this. I am extremely concerned. I spoke with RN leadership resulting in no changes. I’m told it is PT’s restrictions. I will be there tomorrow to seek out leadership and demand changes. To be admitted for PT and for her to now be at risk for major skin and tissue injuries is inexcusable and truly ashame. I’m hoping to hear and witness positive changes in their care. I will follow up.

My brother Jim was at Meadowbrook for rehab and as a resident. The staff is attentive and caring. The Nursing staff, the CNA's, Therapies and dietary staff, housekeeping staff, the social work, the business office, clerks, security and concierge all did a great job seeing that his needs were met and in working with me during his time there.

My adult son was recently a patient at Meadowbrook after being badly injured as a pedestrian in a hit and run accident. Meadowbrook could not have been more excellent than it was! The entire staff is warm, friendly, caring and very knowledgeable in their areas of expertise. The facility is very lovely and beautifully renovated! The patient ‘s every need is met and the three meals a day are beautifully presented and delicious! I leave the best for last in this review, and that is all of the staff and especially the care he was given, and the support both for our son , my husband and myself, from Jennifer, Tiffany, and Jaye. Our son received highly professional, physical and occupational therapy. The therapists were exceptionally knowledgeable and very caring toward their patients. I Would give Meadowbrook more than five stars, if I could!!

My grandmother was recently at Meadowbrook from Dec to Jan .She had broken two hips and needed rehab.. my grandma was considered a fall.risk as she has Parkinson’s and other physical issues . When she was alone in her room and sleeping , she was supposed to have her bed lowered to the floor have the sides of her mattress raised, and have mats on the floor. She was supposed to come home on Friday the 12th but on Thursday night she was brought to her room and at some pt got out of her bed , fell, hit her head and broke her neck. She is now immobile on a liquid /soft food diet . Already frail she is getting frailer . According to everyone at mesdownbrooke all precautions were in place and every protocol was followed but somehow this still occurred. Pretty mindblowing. When I was there on Christmas my grandma had tried to poor herself a glass of water but the water fell from her hand i asked for someone to help clean it up but no one ever came . it took me slipping on the water to finally get someone to get in there to clean it . Staff were always rude and you never saw anyone. The nurse supervisor was always incredibly rude please don’t use this place I don’t want anyone to go through what we are going through now . . If your loved one does end up here and an incident occurs make sure you advocate for you and your loved ones .

My mom was a patient there for the past two weeks. She received excellent care. The staff was extremely caring and compassionate. A special recognition to Mike the Nursing supervisor on the 2A unit. He was so very accommodating to our requests and handled everything in such a kind and professional way. Also, a special shout out to Laverne, Sheri, Jamie, Joan and Chen. They were phenomenal. Very rarely do I write reviews ,however my grandmothers experience at Meadowbrook was so horrific I feel the need to convey our experience there . My grandmother was at Meadowbrook for about 5 to 6 weeks December to January . She had broken two hips and was considered a fall precaution . Since physical restraints are not allowed by law in nursing homes I.e bed rails , she was supposed to have her bed lowered to the floor at all times , have the sides of her mattress raised, and have mats on the floor. The idea being that this would keep fall precautions from getting out of bed when they are alone. The evening before she was supposed to be discharged, 1/ 11 /23 she was brought into her room early from dinner as it was reported she was exhausted . We were informed that at some point my grandmother got up from bed with all these precaution properly in place as well as being exhausted and fell, hit her head which caused a large hematoma and open cut that needed stitches. ,and broke a vertebrae in her neck. No one of course can tell us how this happened ,as they are all saying everyone was following protocol .My grandmother is now immobile, and in a neck brace for the next 6 weeks . She is now starting to suffering from bedsore . They do not manage fall precaution patients there appropriately . Never did I see her on a 1:1. Their idea of monitoring those patients when not in bed , is putting them in a wheelchair and having them sit in front of the nurse desk , which I have witnessed vacant when patients are sitting there . In one instance a women in a wheelchair attempted to stand and start walking . Someone in the hall noticed and grabbed her before she could really start moving . They have also left my grandmothers medication with her aid who would come to visit her. The idea being she would give it to her . Nurses should be the ones to administer meds , not my grandmothers visitors . They always seemed to be functioning on a Skelton crew and the nurse supervisors was only ever nice to us after the incident with my grandmother. I write this in hopes that it deters ppl from sending their love ones there ,but if you do and an incident occurs please ensure you file an incident report with the NYS department of health and with your loved ones insurance company . Also ensure meadowBrooke takes all required steps and fills out all required paperwork by law with both the department of health and your loved ones insurance .
