I am so impressed with this business!
It is not often that I leave a mechanic feeling they truly valued me as a customer and treated more than fairly! Words that come to mind with this business is HONESTY, FRIENDLY, POLITE, RESPECTFUL, VALUE, QUICK AND KNOWLEDGEABLE! While I was waiting I witnessed this over and over with the way other customers were being treated.
I wish I could give them more stars!

Danny, thank you so much! We truly care and try!!
I went to several shops to get my brakes checked, no luck, I am making this post to save others. I spoke to Joey on the phone and the first thing that stood out was that I was able to discuss my issue with my car with him. Unlike other places, I wasn't rushed off the phone. In this day of press 1 for this or 2 for that, I had a real conversation, it was a good experience to know that customer service mattered. My service was completed quickly, I received pictures, i was given options, and the price was fair. When I picked up my car, they discussed the reward program and actually thanked me for bringing my car there. Maxi's on Hodges is a great shop with good people. I will continue to service my car there.

Lionel, thank you very much for describing how we operate. We are here to make customer service personal and great again!
We brought in our 2014 Mazda 6 sport to Maxi for a front suspension replacement late last fall. After the replacement, the suspension system would squeak over bumps/divots in the road. My husband wanted to give it time to wear in but it never resolved. So I brought it in to Maxi to look at their work. They did not charge me an inspection fee to inspect their work but they were so focused on everything else with the car and never fixed the front suspension squeak. I am so disappointed!
They wrote up a report about fictional things wrong with the car. For example, they said my serpentine belt was fraying but my husband just replaced it 2 months prior. They also reported the inspection to CarFax without my permission with the false information included. Their pricing is much higher than other places and they are very focused on selling you maintenance on your car that you do not need.
This is my second time working with Max Auto repair. My first time at the Hodges location, but my previous visit was at their Atlantic Beach location. I must say, after experiencing two different locations, both of them provide thorough, caring, and exceptional service from beginning to end. I only came in for an oil and filter change, with a tire rotation that was complimentary (included in the service). What I love the most about this business is that they text you the invoice, the multi-point inspection with clear pictures, and provide you with a printout before it is time for you to check out. They go over everything with you verbally, and do not make you feel like a number nor a monetary transaction/ATM. They take their time because they care about their customers, their work, their business, and their positions. God bless you all, and thank you for a wonderful visit. Ron, and the other gentleman at the desk, who I forget his name off the top of my head were both so kind, and happy. They didn’t undermine me as a woman, but treated me like the Queen I am. Thank you both! I’ll be back for any future needs, and will be sure to recommend anyone to this establishment! :)

Thanks Zameeya! We really appreciate you sharing your experience. It is so nice to hear that our hard work and processes are working across our company. Thanks again and we look forward to being here for you for many years to come.
Maxi is always open and honest. Their prices are really good when compared to other shops and I never get the feeling they are trying to sell you on services you don't need. Quick and professional techs. Other shops could learn a thing or two from Maxi.

Thanks Russell!!! We are here to do it the right way. We appreciate you!
Maxi Auto was great to work with. They were super helpful over the phone, got me in the very next morning, and quickly figured out what was going on. They even took a drive with me so they could hear the issue firsthand, which I really appreciated. Joey at the front was extremely communicative and helpful the whole time. Couldn’t recommend a better spot.

Thanks Thaddeus! We appreciate you.
We brought the car in the original first time they charged us $3000. We brought it back three times they said it was under warranty. They still couldn’t fix it then they wanted to charge us another $1200 on top of that 3000 so we said that wasn’t fair and then just because we wanted to pick up the car they charged us 250 they said for an inspection. Maxis was unfair for what they did and all this is on social media. I’ll never recommend this place again to anybody.

Good Morning Mrs. Duquette, I can understand your level of frustration. But there is some information that was left out in the review, and I would like to clarify a few things about the service visits. The initial inspection that we did 3/19/2025, we found that there was a leak in your evaporator core, and got the authorization to do the repairs on the vehicle. A full year later, the vehicle came back into the shop with the A/C under performing again, which we then recharged the a/c back and did not charge you for. During that visit, we were not able to find a leak at the evaporator core, or any corresponding a/c components. On this most recent visit, we took another look at the vehicle and saw that there was a very tiny rock chip at the bottom of the condenser, which was why the a/c was not operating properly. So we quoted the repairs, and presented our findings to you. As far as the warranty, the warranty is only for the repairs we did to the evaporator core, which is operating normally at the time of the inspection. The issue was with the condenser, and not the evaporator core. So, Unfortunately there is no warranty on the replacement of the condenser since we never replaced it. With the Inspection fee, We told you up front when you dropped the vehicle off with us that if it was something Maxi replaced (in this case the evaporator core) we would take care of the inspection, and also the repairs, But if it was something different, then we would have to charge for the inspection and the repairs, you agreed, and signed for us to take a look into what was going on with the a/c. We were not unfair to you, But were very transparent with our process, and with our inspections and what was needed to be replaced at the time of the visit. But we here at Maxi wish you the best in finding your forever shop.
Took my 2020 Chevy Colorado in for AC issues and they did a thorough job diagnosing the problem. Turned out I had a leaking evaporator core, a weak compressor, stuck grille shutters, and a sluggish condenser fan — a lot going on, but they explained everything clearly before starting any work. Honest diagnosis, no upselling, and they walked me through what needed fixing versus what could wait. Would recommend to anyone in Jacksonville needing reliable AC or general repair work.

Thanks Juan! We put a lot of focus on proper and accurate diagnosis and making sure that our clients understand what is going on with these complicated systems. We look forward to helping in the future and please dont forget about us for the easy oil change...we do the simple stuff too! Thanks again!
This is a review after getting the shops response to my initial issue. The way the shop handled the response was poor to say the least. Calling my issue "comparing apples to oranges". Not at all trying to fix an issue. Instead the goal was to explain away a bad review. My original issue was that the shop wanted to charge the maximum fee for inspection of an issue even though I brought the tech outside and walked him through the issue. I also showed him the problem (Cracked radiator and cooland everywhere) and why it need to be fixed, which he agreed. Then the shop wanted to proceed with charging $250 to diagnose an issue. Its not rocket science and I am not even a skilled mechanic like this shop says they are. To try and say signing a piece of paper that gives a range for the inspection after I walked a tech through everything as the reason for it becoming my problem I think really shows the shops real intent. Seems like a way to get someone to just leave the vehicle there even with the inflated prices they give. My problem wasnt the quote for the work but while we are on that. The repair shop that actually did the work didnt do the hoses since there was nothing wrong with them. Charging 1000+ dollars for labor only on a 4 hour job is 100% inflated. Even without the hoses this shop wanted to charge $1400+ Please just be aware of what you are getting into when bringing your vehicle here.
