Five Star Experience with a Top-notch Company
We are so glad we booked a quad tour with Maluti Mountain. Everything about the experience was top-notch starting with the booking. We decided the night before we were interested in going and sent Shane an email. He responded promptly and gave us some options. The next morning we got a late start and knew we wouldn't be ready for the scheduled tour. I gave Shane a call and he was able to accommodate our schedule. It was a rainy day and the road to the meeting point is not in the best condition. Shane called us while we were on the road to make sure we had a 4 wheel drive vehicle and ensured us that they would come and pull us out if we got stuck. We didn't, but it was good to know we would have been helped. Sid did our tour and did an excellent job getting us kitted out in raingear (that they provide) and showing us the ropes. The tour, itself, is amazing, over the river and through the woods, so to speak. I couldn't believe the terrain the quad bikes are able to cover and we got a kick out of driving them. The scenery is stunning and we enjoyed the stop at the cave to see the rock art. When we got back to our car, Sid led us down a different road so that we could avoid the worst of the mud on the main road. He and Shane really went above and beyond the call of duty and we so appreciated it. The tour was a hit with our nine year old as well - he bragged about it to his class the following Monday! Thanks Shane and Sid for a five-star experience.
Incredible Quad Biking Experience - A ladies perspective
The absolute best quad biking experience in Clarens by far! Shane is incredibly skilled and ready to support old and young along the trail. The bikes are easy to ride being automatic and I felt incredibly safe at all times.
The cave tour was a bonus, and the views at the top of the hills are breathtaking.
Tips for ladies (I was the only one on our tour)
1) Wear a sports bra!
2) You cannot carry anything on the bike, so if you are going to carry goodies (camera/cellphone/jacket) make sure it is in a satchel strapped securely to you. Stuff jiggles and you can easily lose it.
3) Wear sunscreen!
4) Wear old clothes - It is a dusty ride and best you not ruin a decent outfit - It is not a fashion show ladies.
5) Take a peak/hat - When you get to the cave to hike you remove your helmet and hairnet. Helmet hair is not a good look for ladies, so you need to pop on a hat to cover your sweaty locks.
6) It is highly likely that you will need to go to the bathroom during the ride (it is a long ride and a lot of jiggling), so take some tissues with you. You will be having a wee in the bush. If you have a Shewee (Google if you don't know what this is) even better and take it with you. I forgot mine at home....
I highly recommend this experience with Shane and his team and will definitely go again!

Family adventure through the Maluti mountains
When we booked our quad bike experience through the Maluti mountains we did not know the adventure that we had waiting for us.
The first part was meeting our host Shane which give us a 4 x 4 experience and then we meet our amazing host Shane. What a guy! Shane was so hospitable and accommodating. We were a group of 10, ages ranging from 5 to 63 years old. He was clear on instructions on using the quads.
Once we started our quad ride, wow the scenery through the mountains was outstanding. South Africa is beautiful beyond words to describe. We went all the way up the mountains, my five old was riding with me and she loved every minute. We have quad biked before through Drakensberg and game farms in Limpopo but this was an incredible experience we will never forget. We parked the bikes halfway and hiked to the caves which is a national monument and saw San drawings, which was so special. Shane told us about the history of the Boere war in the land we stood on. In the caves we had a juice break and Shake treated us to organic juices from the local brewery. And finally our descent through the mountains began. This is a must for any size family and one you will remember forever.
And Shane is a great photographer.

Highly recommended ?
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Shane was an excellent guide and teacher (for myself that had little experience riding a quad). The trail was about 3 hours and with it leading up into the mountains, there were plenty of obstacles to keep the adrenaline going whilst admiring the beautiful views surrounding you.
