Dysfunctional Chaos Interesting read providing a first hand look at the dysfunction we all knew existed but did not know the extremes. The bigger question is why would someone stay in such a chaotic environment that was cut throat and dishonest. It says a lot about the people in the Trump orbit who liked power and lacked moral courage. Also a testament as to why someone should never sell their soul to the devil for a job because you are replaceable and forgotten within the same day. God help us all as we enter the second term.

I'll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw at the Trump White House | Another Trumper cashes in. Many people will enjoy this book for the insights into the relationship between Donald Trump and his present wife Melania as Grisham worked for both of them, at times at the same time, in the White House. Basically first hand gossip. It also shows how Trump acted unhinged to staff at times for whatever reason. Several times she states that she had bad feelings about what was happening in the administration (gut feelings) but never entertained the idea of leaving until the morning of January 7 after insurrection. Wow, it took an attempt to destroy American Democracy to wake her up. She mentions early parts of her life and her personal relationships. She developed a relationship with another Whie House Trumper she called the "Music Man" (responsible for the music at Trump rallies) and how it started out good and then turned abusive, a good parallel to her time in the White House (as verified by many others that served in the administration). She stayed in the bad personal relationship until it became too abusive but never quit the White House no matter how bad it got until, I guess, She realized that her boss was trying to destroy Democracy. Glad she finally woke up. Like many former Trumpers they realized that without a second term they were out of work and out of luck and decided to write books about the administration. These books usually paint the author in a good light while no longer supporting the atrocities of the Trump years, an extreme example is Bill Barr's book where he just falls short of walking on water in his telling. Many of these people that stayed point out the people that were in the administration and couldn't stomach it anymore and left or may have been fired by mutual agreement and how nothing changed and how they stayed because they thought they could make a change. What they don't realize is that the ones that left realized that no one could make a change for the good as it all was coming from Trump and he did not listen to anything that would go against his instincts, they realized this and I guess people like Grisham did not or deluded themselves into thinking they could make a difference, it is easy to do that when you have high profile job in the White House and lose touch with the real world.

I'll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw at the Trump White House | Truthful memoir I really enjoyed this book. It was very well-written and I could not put it down. It is not a tell-all--in many cases, she speaks positively of Trump sets the record straight, admiring his accomplishments. But she does admit the Trump admin was often "a clown car alit with fireworks." Grisham exposes her own vulnerabilities in the midst of the previous dysfuctional West and East Wings. She is not on an ego trip--the book is not meanspirited. This memoir is true, heartfelt, and sad on some levels. Grisham learned from her experience in the Trump orbit, and how one-sided loyalty is at play with not only Donald Trump and many of his sidekicks but with his first lady who Grisham admired deeply. Still I think Grisham came out a stronger, healthier person even after her own personal heartbreak during the Trump era. And I wish her well.
