I am extremely disappointed with the way the woman answering the phone handled my situation. The first time I called, it felt as though she was repeatedly suggesting that I should go to another law firm instead of helping me. I eventually scheduled a consultation, and my consultation with the attorney went very well.
Because I felt comfortable with the attorney, I called back ready to pay the retainer and hire the firm. Once again, the woman gave me the same speech that made me feel like I should go elsewhere. I clearly stated that I still wanted to move forward and pay the retainer. She said she would send me an email, but I never received it.
When I called back, she then told me she wanted to speak with the attorney first. No one called to update me or explain why there was suddenly a delay. I am dealing with a serious and time-sensitive family crisis, so being left waiting without communication was upsetting and unprofessional. If the firm needed additional approval before accepting my case, that should have been communicated to me immediately. The attorney made a good impression, but the treatment I received over the phone made an already difficult situation even more stressful.

We are sorry that you feel disrespected in any way, and we don't question the seriousness of your situation. However, sometimes we have to advise that a desired outcome is not achievable through the means the client is seeking, and we think it would be unethical to take someone's money if we can't provide what they are seeking. However, our staff member did want to check with the attorney to be certain there were not options available. You didn't even give us half a business day to respond back to you, so I don't think it's reasonable to state that no one called you to update. We hope you found the resolution and the peace you are hoping for.
