My mom and I visited Lara in New York City to shop for a dress for my upcoming wedding. The associate who helped us was very kind and spent a lot of time assisting my mom, which we appreciated.
My mom ultimately purchased a gown that day, although she was somewhat hesitant and mentioned she wanted to think about it. The associate reassured her and suggested having the dress shipped to her home rather than taking it with us that day.
At no point during our appointment or checkout were we verbally told that in-store purchases are final sale and not returnable. The store has since said there are signs posted with this policy, but it was never mentioned to us directly. In fact, we have many photos and videos from the appointment of my mom walking around the showroom trying on dresses, and there isn’t a single visible sign stating this policy. Had my mom known the dress would be non-returnable, she absolutely would not have purchased it that day.
To add to it, my mom tried the dress on at home for the first time yesterday and realized that the dress that was shipped to her is the wrong size.
When she contacted the store to see if there was any way to resolve the situation, we were told the dress cannot be returned due to store policy, and after a few exchanges the representative stopped responding to our emails.
We understand that stores have policies, but when the policy was never verbally explained during the purchase and there is also a sizing issue with the dress that was shipped, refusing any assistance feels unreasonable.
We chose Lara because of its reputation and beautiful gowns and hope someone from management sees this and is willing to help resolve the situation fairly.
Such a nice experience turned bad!
The dresses are amazing, my consultant was wonderful, I found a MOB dress which I bought and paid for in the store in NYC, I thought it was the dress! The sales associate said to me she could accept a return if I changed my mind! She NEVER informed me about the return policy!
After receiving the gown by mail a few days later I changed my mind and on top of it the dress was ordered in the wrong size, with all the beadwork it will be very difficult to alter to a smaller size. I went to submit a return and was told that because I bought the dress in store that it’s not returnable! Had I been informed of this policy I would have ordered the dress online so that I could return it.
After many cordial emails, the staff, most likely AI cut off communication with me and will not return my calls!
Needless to say, I am not a happy customer and have a $1000.00 dress I want to throw in the garbage!
Absolutely a lovely experience. While I started at big box stores looking for a dress I did see dresses that I liked but there wasn’t one dress for me to try on in my size (18). I was lucky to find a Lara dress online and went to the store to actually try the dress on! The lovely stylists not only made me feel like I was a “star” they remembered the dress I specifically said I like on my initial appointment request. If you need a formal dress take a moment to look at Lara’s dresses.
Came here without an appointment, I was told I have to make an appointment and luckily I found one later in the day. I came back and the lady was very very kind and professional, she helped me pick the perfect dress to wear for my sister’s wedding. The dress line up was gorgeous, they had many styles in all different colors you can think of, and sizes as well!!
I was amazed by how great her advices were. She told me the colors that matched my skin most, my body type, and gave me advices on tailoring. Ofcourse also she made sure I was comfortable in everything I was wearing. If you’re ever looking for a dress, come here! I promise you you’ll have the best time ever. It was one of my favorite memories from NYC.
excellent selection and very sweet staff!
Came here on a Friday afternoon to try on bridal dresses for 30 minutes and had a great experience. I arrived early so I had time to browse before Sid greeted me and it was clear he knew I was coming in for my bridal appointment. He patiently took down all the dresses I wanted to try and even recommended some – his recommendations ended up being my favorites. I tried on at least 5 dresses, most of them in my size (0). My tip is to come prepared knowing what you want so you have more time in the dresses.
Some other reviewers mentioned disliking the experience of trying on a dress here but I recommend you come in with appropriate expectations. The space to try on a dress is a large space enclosed with curtains with a mirror inside if you don't want to use the mirror in the store, and it has a clothing rack and chair for your things. Sid and staff is there to help you zip up and help with whatever you need – they tell you they are there for you if you want which just means you need to let them know if you want more assistance from them. I didn't require much assistance which allowed Sid to help other customers, but he still always came back after a few minutes to check on me and see if I needed anything - then I asked Sid to help me take some photos and videos which I am so grateful for. I recommend you just book the appointment because the dresses are beautiful! I personally am deciding between three options for my big day!
The Spanish attendant was very nice and welcoming because I didn’t have an appointment and I understood, the two Middle Eastern employees a. Very small petite skinny , black hair lady and a man who had his headphones around his neck so helps job was to get the dresses and honesty they had customer service skills, obviously these dresses are meant for thin girls but they could at least assisted us with measurements once they told us they would would get us the size I asked for. Few they seemed annoyed and I kept waiting and they was like oh make an appointment to try it on tomorrow NOW WHY WOULD I GO HOME WITH TO COME BACK THE NEXT DAY , they don’t have organization in this store any one can get a job just to greet us at the door I’m telling everyone not to waste their time here
