I was very excited to visit the Kruger Station Restaurant at the Skukuza Rest Camp, having read some good reviews online. The restaurant is located within a beautifully restored old train station, with a train parked there as well, in which you can also dine. There is also a nice kids' play area outside, but it's location is a bit inconvenient as it is quite a walk away and not within viewing distance of the dining area. While the food was beautifully presented and tasty, it's a bit on the pricey side. Unfortunately the service completely let the restaurant down. From the moment we arrived, our waiter rushed to get us to order, without even bringing us menus. Things only got worse from there. Our order for a table of 6 took an unreasonably long time, despite the restaurant not being overly busy. When our order finally came, they completely forgot to bring one of our dishes. In a restaurant aiming for a more upscale experience, this is unacceptable. Our waiter also seemed rather unapologetic about the entire situation. While the food and ambiance were enjoyable, the service was a major letdown. Luckily Skukuza does offer other dining options that offer a more consistent overall experience.
