Service was great, however company policy is abhorrent. Apparently we cannot ask for a starter and a main to be served at the same time due to different cooking times. This makes sense, except for the starters ordered being tartare. Which is raw and I presume that's not requiring much in cooking time.
Anyway, we opted to go with the policy and ordered a backup starter (The KFC) which felt like putting a Sahara of salt into my mouth. Presumably intentional as a way to get us to buy your overpriced drinks.
Btw beef tartare with onions is NOT the same as onion tartare with a bit of beef sprinkled in.
My suggestion: head management should resign in shame and the rest of the staff should take their positions.

Hi Sil,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback - we’re truly sorry to hear about your recent experience at Kika.
We’re currently looking into what went wrong, as serving piccolos alongside mains is a common request and something we are happy to accommodate. It seems there was a misunderstanding or mistake on our part, and we’d really appreciate the chance to speak with you directly to make things right and ensure this doesn’t happen again.
We also appreciate your comments about the seasoning on our KFC dish. Our chefs take great care in balancing flavours, so this is being reviewed closely by the kitchen team.
Please contact kikafoh@gmail.com - we'd love the opportunity to get to the bottom of this and restore your confidence in us.
Warm regards,
The Kika Team
Fantastic restaurant! Great atmosphere, wonderful entrees, and the lamb was the best we ever had in our life! The service personnel was very sympathetic and extremely friendly and professional! The wine list offers a great choice of excellent wines from New Zealand and international wines. If you like great food and wine, this is the place to go in Wānaka.
One of the best meals I have had
I have been to many restaurants around the world and many detestations. This would be one of the best. We had the “feed me” option and it was a good decision. There were four entrees one main and a dessert. All excellent. The wine matching was well thought out. I am not a big fan of Sauvignon Blanc but it went well with the food. The service was also excellent. Highly recommended
Highly recommend Kika at Wanaka (2 hats). The food was delicious with some surprises. The restaurant was full on a Tuesday night so it did get quite noisy. We didn't have a booking and the staff were able to accommodate a walk in. The short ribs and potatoes had quite large serving sizes so I would avoid if you aren't too hungry.
