Ive been here twice, both times as a couple's scalp massage with my best friend, using the groupon package. Honestly, the best scalp massage, neck& shoulders. The girls are so sweet, and were gentle and made the experiance so relaxing. I even fell asleep!! They take a few minutes to set the room, so I suggest book it in the early evening when its quiet, and you dont have to rush. Thank you joyaa spa, im definitely coming back :)
Please do NOT have a scalp treatment here if you have fine or thinning hair, or a sensitive scalp. Before the treatment began, I told the woman that I had a sensitive scalp and asked her to please be gentle. She didn’t understand what I had said and asked me to speak it into Google Translate. I thought she understood but proceeded to scratch my scalp repeatedly, back and forth with her nails in a very rough manner. She also used something that felt like a pumice stone on my scalp. I had to keep asking her to be more gentle and to stop scratching. She would say ok and then continue to do the same exact thing with the same amount of intensity. After bracing myself for 45 minutes, I asked her to please just stop. I blow dried my hair on my own and left with a throbbing scalp, less hair on my head, and tears in my eyes. Not a great way to have spent my birthday.
I went for the first time yesterday and it was absolutely wonderful and so relaxing! Very friendly staff and such a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere. After the treatment they blow out your hair and it feel like absolute silk. So soft and so smooth. Great experience. Definitely will be going back.
My daughter and I used a Groupon to try a scalp massage at joyaa. We had a 2:00 appointment, but didn’t get into the room until 2:15. The two woman working there were rushing back and forth. During the 15 minutes it took for them to have us enter the room.
The water running on my head and neck was the positive of this treatment. They show you a view on a camera of your scalp before and after the treatment. After my treatment, I saw multiple blood spots throughout my scalp. The practitioner that worked on me was rough. I was looking forward to a relaxing experience and it was far from that. Her movements throughout this treatment were not smooth at all. She abruptly moved my head back and forth and when massaging my neck and arms, she used heavy pressure with sharp and quick movements as if she was rushing. I asked her if she could be less aggressive in her movements. She toned it down for a minute and then continued her strong and quick movements.
I decided not to tip her for this service. We were out by our cars and she came out yelling “where’s my tip”? I explained to her that my daughter and I did not enjoy the service at all. I was bleeding! She ran inside and came out with two $5 coupons for us to use next time. There won’t be a next time.
Amazing scalp treatment massage for very good cost-very nice sweet people. So relaxing!! I definitely recommend, it was probably the best "relaxing" service i've ever had to date... yes the place could use some updates like the room ceiling, but honestly none of that matters bc the service is wonderful. they even blow dry your hair for you after! worth every penny! Thanks ladies!
Absolutely save your hair and your money and do not go here for the head spa. I purchased a Groupon and it was the worst experience and my hair is COMPLETELY DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR. Not only did the girl have a bad attitude but did not know what she was doing whatsoever she was literally rubbing my hair back and fourth like she was washing her hands vigorously with my hair in between I was like there’s no way she’s actually doing that but low and behold she was. By the time I was “finished” I got up with my hair in a huge knot I literally couldnt believe it. So I went home and spent the next hour trying to detangle and fix my hair losing a ton of hair and also found other peoples hair in my hair I pulled out someone’s black hairball from my brown/blonde hair completely disgusting. So my hair is completely broken from top to bottom sprawling dead ends and knots that I’m still constantly getting and that’s what happens when you buy Groupons to places like this. Also I think it’s hilarious how they have the audacity to call me and text me several times until I had to block them to get the Groupon # bc they didn’t take it correctly.
I had the scalp treatment today. I was really looking forward to a relaxed hour of my day. I had scheduled an early appointment but it seemed like they were not ready for clients at this time. My therapist was great and very professional but I guess others were getting ready for the day. They were running the loud washing and drying machines in the very next room which unfortunately ruined the mood for a spa experience. I would recommend not to book appointments if they will not be ready.
