Hey Scott, Thanks for the message. It's our policy to discuss the prices before we begin our work and only proceed if the client agrees and approves. Is this what you mean by estimates? I suppose you're right. We don't give estimates. The price we offer before beginning any work is not an estimate, it's a guaranteed price! But I think that's better than an estimate, anyway. If we failed to do discuss our prices beforehand, I'd absolutely want to fix this situation as soon as possible, as it's 100% our policy to only proceed with work when the customer understands what we're doing and what we're charging for it. That being said, my team has informed me that you agreed to everything, you wanted the work, you knew the price, and you were happy with the service. So if I'm missing something, I'd love to make this right. But otherwise, I'm not sure what's 1-star about your experience with us? If it's the part about "we don't give out material costs" - well, I admit there is a better way to discuss this and I appreciate the coaching opportunity - I'll discuss this with your plumber. What he meant to say was our flat rate prices, to which you agreed upfront, actually include the wax seal. There's no extra charge for it, so you don't need to worry! If you think he was trying to hide the price of a wax seal, I assure you, Scott, that everyone in the company has used Google and knows that the price of any product is just a Google search away. We're not trying to hide anything, nor do we think we could if we wanted to. All that being said, we're a plumbing service company, not a plumbing supplier. We don't sell wax seals out of the truck to clients. It's actually included as a part of the service we offer. Now if you were just asking the plumber how much he paid for the wax seal, my assumption would be that it's because you want to understand the cost your paying for our service, which I can definitely understand. The problem, however, is that the cost of a wax seal doesn't paint the appropriate picture. The wax seal is not the only costs involved with our services. First of all, we pay our plumbers. We also pay for a vehicle (along with the gas, insurance, and maintenance). We have tools. We have training materials and references. We have a variety of insurances. We have customer service folks answering the phone calls. We require software programs to run the business. We have uniforms. And the list goes on, and on, and on - but I won't bore you with it. Now I admit that the plumber could have said "our upfront prices actually include the wax seal!" rather than "we don't talk about our costs". But while I agree with you about how this one thing could have been said, I don't believe that one exchange is indicative of a 1-star plumbing experience. If you knew what the other companies could be like, I believe you'd be extremely grateful about our terrific service. I don't want to get too cheesy, but I believe that disappointment is the failure to meet expectations - which is often the failure to set expectations. In this case, it seems our friendly customer service rep answered the phone, got you an appointment that worked for you, explained our assessment fee and how we operate, then a friendly and professional plumber arrived on time, he discussed the service and the price, he also offered great promotional deals which you declined, and once you approved, he did the work for the price you expected. As far as I can see, we set the appropriate expectations and we met them. If you feel this was a 1-star experience, then I trust you will use a different plumbing company in the future. When that happens, I hope you'll consider editing this review when you realize that we are levels above our competition. Thank you and have a great day.
