I promised Ipsun a glowing 5-star review if they managed to keep up the good work, but they didn't. I got a LOT of proposals for my solar panel job and Ipsun was one of 2 companies that had solid contracts and lower price than others. They were even willing to fix clauses in the contract that were objectionable - something the big companies refused to do with the usual "trust us not to screw you" response.
My salesman/liaison George was great throughout the process. The engineers insisted on submitting 2 unapprovable designs to county permitting, but still managed to get the permit ahead of schedule. Then came the ecstatic surprise of almost immediate installation (this, with tax credits expiring and everybody rushing).
It was downhill from there. The crew left a lot of trash, especially the electrician that worked on my breaker box. I hope their work is better than their workmanship. I was promptly billed and paid for completed installation in early November. After some hiccups, the system passed inspection, in plenty of time to get the tax credit and well ahead of their estimated installation date.
But then things completely fell apart. The 15 minute process to request Permission to Operate took over a month. They sent me a bill for PTO being approved in case I wanted to pay early (I didn't). They didn't update the details of the installed configuration with the utility, so the utility didn't approve. I finally complained enough to get them moving in time to get permission to operate on December 31, in the afternoon. The post-PTO liaison that contacted me by mistake a month before PTO never contacted me after PTO. I might have upset her while pushing for PTO.
In summary, Ipsun charged me a better price than other proposals. They got me the tax credit that they told me there was only a slim chance for because of my late decision to install solar. George was great to work with. But the end-of-year crunch that almost lost me the tax credit that I was ecstatic to have within grasp, and that caused me to beg them to enable, killed the fifth star and glowing review.
They still got the 4 stars. I paid less than other big companies quoted. And I can recommend people that don't trust contractors that propose unfair contract terms to get a proposal from Ipsun.

Thanks for taking the time to post this discussing your experience. It characterizes the challenge throughout our industry, once the end-of-year tax credit deadline was imposed, in effect a rush, and we still wish we could have avoided the issues with both the designs that would not be approved and the final plans for final utility approval, and are working on alerting homeowners more promptly about PTO, as proved challenging during this time. Your advocacy (the push you mention) did not upset anyone, on the contrary your self-advocacy is totally reasonable given the situation and to maintain communication. Know that we value the chance to work with you and are glad that your system is now built to perform reliably for many years, and hope that you'll keep in touch.
We're deeply disappointed with our experience with Ipsun Solar. We purchased a battery backup, and there was a long period of silence between installation and permission to operate. We received permission to operate conveniently right after we followed up after several months of silence. Then, following the permission to operate status, we had press again in order to receive instructions to turn the battery on. We received a pdf for us to follow the instructions on our own. When we did so, the entire house lost power. The Ipsun electrician was able to restore power to the house, but not to fix the issue with the battery. In the days that have followed, we ask for an update each day and receive either radio silence or deferral of responsibility to the battery manufacturer. In addition, as a result of the battery issue, our solar panels (not acquired through Ipsun) are now not functioning. Overall, communication, project management, and follow-through have been terrible.
UPDATING this post as communication improved and Ipsun was able to get the issue resolved. We now have a functioning battery, which resolved the issue with our solar panels as well. We appreciate all that Ipsun did to get things back on track.

Hi Rose, the team was similarly surprised, and very sorry, to hear about the outage after trying to turn on the equipment. We acknowledge that communication is a key part of the installation experience and was a weak area for us on your project which we can learn from, and while it may not make up for that, we'll stay in very close touch with you and the other parties involved as we resolve the project. We regret the stress you've experienced during what could have been a smoother transition and we thank you for staying in contact and bearing with us in the midst of an unusually fast-paced winter for our crew and operational staff. Thanks for posting.
I had a large solar project designed in May 2025. Installation occurred in October after a lot of collaboration with a Franklin battery backup and a generator plug. The inspection occurred in November 2025 and as of January 2026 we still don’t have permission to operate. The app only shows half of the panels (none are functional). They installed an outlet for the generator plug instead of an inlet, so that won’t work until it’s replaced. Repeatedly contacted every company rep I have been given with no response or only more promises to resolve the issues ‘soon’. You tend to get funny looks from the neighbors when they ask how we like the system and have to say it still doesn’t work yet

Hi Dillon, thank you for taking the time to rate us here and we are deeply sorry that circumstances didn't allow us to deliver a satisfactory experience for you and that the project remains in an unresolved state. We regret having to ask for your continued patience as our team works to make the system functional and complete, and while the unprecedented busy season of late 2025 does not excuse the less than desirable service experience you have had we hope to respond more quickly to such issues now that the tax credit installation deadline has passed. Again, thanks for being in touch.
I simply can't believe their rating is so good. I feel that Ipsun has over extended themselves as the solar tax incentives are expiring on Jan 1st. Got my non-functioning installation to pass county inspection and moved on to the next emergency. No clear point of contact at each milestone and rarely a returned call. I suspect I'll be joining a long line of customers trying to get installations completed after the first of the year .... update pending....

Hi Leonard, we collectively wish every 2025 system was in working order at this point as planned but you hit the nail on the head, the sudden deadline seems to have forced the deployment of equipment (installs) at a (fact checking this we think it's correct) a record-breaking speed for the company. However, the communication piece is an issue that we *can* do something about and we take your feedback to heart on redoubling efforts to call clients back and handle the entire process more smoothly, it's a main goal going into 2026. Thanks for voicing, we hear you.
Communication and follow-through are non-existent and the installation itself is still not complete after weeks of waiting. I sent an email about an incorrect document, heard nothing for days - so I followed up twice, and escalated the issue to two separate people. Still no response…it’s been two weeks…
My battery installation was changed the day of installation because it was deemed to be “completely unsafe” the way it had been designed. That doesn’t instill confidence.
My panels are still not provisioned correctly with Enphase. Did I mention the second day of installation was a no-show with no call or email? And a no-show the following day? What does a second-time client need to do to get the job completed?
One of my solar panels failed this summer. I only discovered it three weeks ago checking the app and seeing a tiny alert. It took a couple weeks of contacting Ipsun to get in contact with the right service team. But once they got on it, they worked the problem, figured it out with a couple of house calls and roof climbs, and ultimately replaced a faulty panel under warranty.
Because my panels are from 2019 and hard to get now, I got a newer one about 20% more powerful.
Ipsun is my original system designer and installer. I'm glad I chose them to do the work. They've worked with on a couple of items over the years. I recommend them to all my neighbors considering a home solar install.

Thanks for the recommendations, David, and in spite of a busy season we are very glad we were able to accomplish that single solar module replacement for you under warranty. We hope all Ipsun customers will reach out any time they notice a similar issue and we strive to service those promptly to get you back to full-scale production.
Just recently got solar, a backup battery solution, and replacement smart electric panel done through Ipsun Solar and the process went smoothly with great teams encountered along the way. The crew was super professional and finished all the solar panel work in a single day, and the electricians working on the panel were great.

Thanks for taking the time to share that Stephanie, especially for describing your energy storage experience. Our team appreciates the chance to deliver such service, and we were really glad to work with you!
My solar system was installed with only half the panels turned on. After many emails I finally got the companies attention, and they sent someone that successfully resolved the issue. No one responded to my requests for documentation on the mapping between panels and feeds to the Tesla inverters so that I can better monitor any future issues. Dominion started charging me a standby fee because the system was over the 15kWh AC limit which was a surprise that I would have expected to be alerted to during system design.
We had panels installed in August and have had several setbacks. Its now October. Today Abdul came to troubleshoot the problem. He was courteous, friendly and professional. When he left, we are finally producing!!
Thank you, Abdul!

While we wish your experience didn’t involve the setbacks you mentioned, we appreciate your candor and your sharing that the system performs as intended now. On behalf of Abdul and the team thanks for your very nice words and we look forward to supporting you for many years of clean energy production and energy independence. Cheers!
We are delighted with IPSun solar panels. MY POWER BILL DROPPED FROM $200 in DECEMBER TO $55 IN FEBRUARY! These are so much better than the ones we had 10 years ago in another state. IPSun plowed through the County permitting and delivered great service on the install. The utility guy said IPsun has the best technology in the business.
Posting for Dave Sr. and Janet.

Our solar panel installation was a bit rocky but it was finally wrapped up and dealt with by Abdul who had great customer service and skill. Abdul should be utilized to help guide the rest of the team.

We agree—Abdul is an excellent member of our team, and we appreciate your recognition of his efforts. The installation crew was absolutely professional. Explained exactly what needed to happen, and if there were any specific requirements I had. They were flexible scheduling the install, and were responsive to all questions along the way. They didn't upsell, and wanted to make sure the system was likely to break even on cost as quickly as possible.

We really appreciate you sharing your experience, Loren! Our team strives to communicate with every client the way you described. Your solar monitoring should make it easy to tell when your production has offset your system cost. Nice working with you!
We installed solar panels on our house 2 years ago, and we are still extremely satisfied with Ipsun Solar.
First, the sale process, which was very transparent and straightforward. We never felt pressured. All of our questions were welcome and answered quickly. They tailored the system to our house and our electricity usage.
Second, the installation. We needed a new roof (not related to the panels; we were replacing the roof and then decided to also get solar). Ipsun worked incredibly well with us and the roofing contractor to schedule the installation. It was surprisingly easy. Ipsun handled everything for the system, including the necessary inspections and permits. They communicated very well throughout the process.
Finally, usage and customer support. The panels are awesome and significantly lower our electricity bills. One of the most enjoyable things now is checking the app or website to see how much our panels are producing. There have been no issues since they were first installed. Last winter, after some heavy snow, the app alerted us that the panels were not producing electricity because they were covered in snow. We decided not to try to remove the snow ourselves, and it was only a day or two before the snow melted and the panels were completely back to 100%. It was great to see that the app was working and would notify us of any problems. Although we haven’t had any issues, we have some experience with their customer service. They reached out several weeks after we turned on the system to see if we had any questions, and we called them later with a request for copies of our contract. Each interaction was professional, courteous, timely and helpful.
We highly recommend this company!

Thanks for sharing that Cathy! We like how you mentioned that sometimes the best way to have confidence in the app is knowing when there’s a thick layer of snow up there. Our team is gratified at the pleasant experience we delivered.
Our installation of solar panels went very smoothly. I’m super happy with the service we received. I highly recommend Ipsun Solar.

Thanks for the review, Ken! We are glad everything worked out with your utility company during your project and happy we got to work with you.
A great local company that came with a good deal under $3 per watt. The representatives were realistic in terms of projecting energy production and system losses over time and the installers, electricians, and the entire management team were fantastically experienced. The panels, microinverters, electric box, etc are top-of-the-line. Overall, it is a better value compared to other companies and the whole package has been a success. Highly recommend Ipsun for all your solar needs.
