I have had multiple pregnancy scans here this year, the latest being the Hd 4D scan, although baby wasn’t in a good position on my appointment day, the lovely sonographer tried her hardest to get good pictures, it wasn’t possible so I was offered a free re scan 3 days later and luckily baby was in a much better position, so she could get some amazing pictures this time! I always feel there is no rush and the staff are so chatty and informative, they really put you at ease and make it such a special experience seeing the baby. I will definitely be back for another scan before he is due and I recommend this branch to everyone now. 😊

Very welcoming and friendly, we struggled to get the gender due to babys crossed legs, they were very patient with us and let us come back to try again " no additional charges" and we managed to find out on the second go. Over all it was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend imaginatal to anyone wanting a private scan.

Imaginatal have consistently been wonderful throughout the whole pregnancy, from the very first scan at 8/9 week, to one of our final 4D scans at 7 months, we’ve found the team to be such pleasant, laid back and helpful people. We first saw our son when he was but a speck, right through to gender reveal and later 4D when we saw his little face! We’ve had multiple scans throughout the pregnancy and every time the event was special, relaxed and well worth the money. Special shout out to the lovely team on reception and on scan-printing and a particular sonographer, Joreen, who was patient, determined and super lovely in attempt to get the perfect 4D image! Thank you guys, you’ve all played a real part in making this pregnancy journey special and we couldn’t thank you, or recommend you, enough!

I booked a last minute appointment online, turned up to the shop to see it was closed. Phoned the number only to be told everyone had gone home because they didnt see my booking. I completely understand closing early if you can but they didnt remove any of the appointments from their system so you were still able to book right up until their closing time.

Wow where do I start I can not thank every single one of you enough for all the support and effort ! Paid for a gender scan and baby was stubborn went back 3 times for free and they tried everything to help get the baby moving so we could see the gender . I am so happy and most of all would recommend this clinic to anybody !thank you so much

I can’t recommend this place enough! I have been extremely anxious from day one of my pregnancy, and being able to come for some extra scans has really helped to relax my nerves. It’s an extremely warm, and friendly environment! You feel so comfortable throughout. I have seen 3 ladies from my scans and each of them have been AMAZING! Pictures and videos are so clear and they go through so much so you get a good understanding of what is going on during. I’m so grateful and Thankyou all for the amazing job you do! Xxxx

My partner and I went to Imaginatal for an early pregnancy scan when she was about 6 weeks and 2 days along. We just wanted some peace of mind. The internal scan showed an empty sac - right size for that stage of the pregnancy, but nothing inside. They told us to come back in 3 weeks. Three weeks?! We were shocked. We came for reassurance, not to be left hanging for nearly a month. A private doctor we spoke to afterwards said this was unusual - most places would offer something sooner since if nothing develops by 7 weeks, it's likely not viable. We couldn't handle waiting that long, so we rescheduled for 7 weeks and 2 days. Same result - empty sac, measuring correctly, but still nothing there. They wanted us to wait ANOTHER 2 weeks. At that point we were done and went to the NHS. The NHS confirmed what we feared - no viable pregnancy. But here's the sucker punch: they told us they can't use private scan results and need their own two scans before they can help with next steps. So now we're waiting even longer, when if they just referred us initially then we would be able to make a decision on further treatment today, but instead we're waiting another two weeks. The NHS clinician actually said they've told all the Bristol private clinics to refer patients immediately if there's no heartbeat on the first scan. Imaginatal never mentioned this option. If we'd waited their full 3 weeks initially, we'd be looking at 5+ weeks total before getting any actual help through the NHS. I really wish they'd been upfront about the process and our options. Going through a loss is hard enough without being kept in the dark about what comes next. They need to do better at supporting people during such a difficult time, not just scheduling follow-ups weeks away. Very poor service and extremely disappointed.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and I am truly sorry for the distress you and your partner have been through. Losing a pregnancy is an incredibly difficult experience, and we understand how upsetting it must have been not to receive the clarity you were hoping for.

At around six weeks of pregnancy, it can sometimes be too early to confirm viability, as development varies between individuals for many biological reasons. In your case, the scan showed a small gestational sac without a yolk sac or fetal pole — structures that typically begin to appear around this stage. Based on these findings, the practitioner made a clinical judgement that more time would be needed for these features to develop, and a follow-up scan was arranged in line with the guidelines we follow to allow for a conclusive reassessment if the pregnancy was progressing. This approach is standard practice where there are no additional concerns at the time of the scan, such as acute pain or significant bleeding.

We recognise that this wait can be very difficult, particularly when reassurance is the reason for attending. Our clinical team will continue to ensure patients are clearly informed about expected timeframes and the option to contact NHS early pregnancy services directly if they prefer.

We are very sorry for your loss and appreciate your feedback, which helps us continue to improve how we communicate and support patients during such sensitive situations.

Awful experience here. We didn't want to find out baby's gender. Wrote this on our consent form and verbally told the sonographer once entering the room. The sonographer continued to show us on the screen the baby's gentials. Whilst saying "here are the baby's gentials". Both my partner and I left feeling disappointed rather than happy as we should have been, as they completely ruined our suprise. Would not recommend or come back.

You made it very clear on your consent form and verbally in the room that you did not wish to know the gender of your baby, and on this occasion it was briefly visible on the screen. This should not have happened, and we sincerely apologise for the upset it caused.

While our team always takes care to follow parental wishes, it is not always possible to fully control what is seen during an ultrasound, as the baby’s position and other factors can sometimes make gender visible. Importantly, our three-stage gender identification process was not carried out during your scan, so the gender was not formally determined.

We have reviewed this incident with the team involved to ensure extra care is taken in future, and as we have shared with you directly, we are very sorry that this experience fell short of the high standards we aim to provide.

We had a really great experience at Imaginatal in Bristol. The clinic is very welcoming, with a calm and relaxing atmosphere that immediately put us at ease. The staff were kind, professional, and attentive, making sure everything was taken care of smoothly. We felt very comfortable throughout our visit and truly appreciated the care we received. We’re very happy with their services and will definitely be coming back again. Highly recommended!

My husband and I went for a 4d bonding experience on friday as we were desperate to see our little boy and couldnt wait for the next NHS scan. It was incredible, we saw his little face and hands and feet in so much detail!! We got sent all of the photos and the 30min video of our time so we could send to family and will keep the memories forever. Also found out the weight and how the baby is growing so that was reassuring, and hearing the heartbeat! Would definitely recommend to anyone who is unsure if its for them. We went for the 40min package and it was so worth the extra!! The staff were all super friendly and relaxed and the sonigrapher, Precious was great! Thank you for a lovely experience.

Had a lovely scan today just a few things that made the experience not as special as it should have been due to the receptionist, she didn't smile once and was not welcoming at all I'm supprised a place like this would employ someone with no charisma. Also a shame we payed for the video and it has no sound for the heartbeat as they had it muted. Apart from that the sonographer was pleasant. Also everything is upsold so you don't even get a free picture and can't even take one on your phone

We have paid for 5 scans within the last 40 days, and today my wife had some bleeding, which was very worrying. I was out of town, 4 hours away from Bristol, so she had to go to the clinic alone. We paid for another scan just to make sure the baby was okay. However, during this visit, the staff did not allow us to record the scan or even let me join via a video call just to see my baby’s heartbeat. Their excuse was that it could “affect the scan,” but in all 5 previous visits we were always allowed to record without any issues. On top of that, they were very rude to my wife, who was already very stressed and worried. She does not speak English fluently, and it felt like they took advantage of that to be dismissive and unkind to her. They even told her that if she was not happy, she could just get up and leave — after we had already paid for the scan. This was an extremely upsetting experience during a very sensitive moment. We expected compassion and professionalism, but instead we were treated poorly. Very disappointing.

Thank you for your message. I am very sorry that your recent visit to our clinic left you and your wife feeling distressed at what was already a worrying time. Our aim is always to provide compassionate, professional care, and I regret that you did not feel this during your experience.

I would like to explain our policy around mobile phones. The scan room has a strict no mobile phone use policy, with large signs displayed both as you enter and inside the room. This rule is in place to protect patient privacy, avoid distractions, and—most importantly—because the use of mobile phones can interfere with sensitive ultrasound equipment. Even a brief interruption or distraction can affect the sonographer’s ability to carry out the scan safely and accurately. For these reasons, recording and video calling are not permitted in the scan room.

On this occasion, when filming and video calling continued despite requests to stop, our staff explained that the scan could only continue if phones were put away. Alternatively, a refund was offered if you preferred not to proceed. We also provide the option of a virtual guest service, which allows family members to join remotely in a safe and controlled way, though this carries an additional charge. I am sorry if this was not clearly understood at the time.

I must also acknowledge that our staff reported being subjected to verbal abuse in clinic and over the phone during this incident. While we fully appreciate the stress and worry that can accompany such situations, we have a responsibility to protect our staff as well as our patients, and therefore we operate a strict zero-tolerance policy towards abusive behaviour. Because of the seriousness of what occurred, we had to stop the appointment.

I appreciate this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, but I hope it helps to explain the reasoning behind our policies and actions. I am truly sorry that your experience with us ended in this way and that you did not feel the compassion and reassurance you should have received.
