Well situated and close to the beach. Friendly patrons and friendly owners made us feel welcome. Spotless amenities, camp kitchen and pool area spotless. Each site well maintained and whole park extremely well kept. Nightly happy hour held around a warm fire.

I was looking at maybe staying here but after reading so many bad reviews, there seems to be a common theme. Thank you for the warnings. I will look elsewhere

I used to come to this park when I was growing up, 20ish years ago. Unfortunately can’t access the beach with a car from the rear of the park anymore. Park was full of lovely people. Especially love that the fire is lit everyday by the owners for everyone to enjoy. The communal showers really need an update to the hot water. I was adjusting the taps literally every 10 seconds in attempt to maintain a comfortable shower temperature for my kids and I. On my first night, my mate was cooking on the communal fire bbq, the bbq was struggling to cook the thicker fish fillets. We added a small log and stoked the bbq. The lady owner asked what he was cooking and said “ah don’t you think they’re done now”. They were very clearly not. Then said “I saw you put a log in my fire, do you need that much heat?” My mate gently replied with the obvious answers. A few minutes later the lady owner began asking another guest “whose empty bottles were on the table?” And “don’t you think they would be better in the bin over there” The owners walked off after that and came back roughly 30 minutes later to call my mate aside to have a chat. They had a conversation about how visitors were only permitted until 9pm and that rules were there to be followed. It was only 8:30 at the time. We had a visitor, whom was a local that lived down the road and had simply come down to say hello and have some dinner. Also thought it was quite ironic that I overheard another guest receive a reminder to slow down in the park, when the lady owner flys around in her mower and electric scooter, much much faster than the signed “5km” It seems to be a consistent interaction that guests have when a certain person decides to involve themselves. It’s sad that I had some great memories and experiences dampened by some poor interactions repeatedly by a single person. No other issues with any of the staff. I think the guest interactions need to be handled by the hired staff, reading previous reviews, it’s clear they’re not handled well by the owners.

I'm sorry to hear about your recent experiences at the park. It sounds like you have a deep connection to the place from your childhood, and it must be disappointing to see changes that affect your ability to enjoy it as before, however the restricted beach access and issues have nothing to do with us, please contact our local Whitsunday Council with your issues. We did not cause any frustration interactions with anyone at the BBQ area, and if I asked about the bottles, it was only to put them in the bin if someone had left them there, if they were yours, well thanks for thanking me. And as I explained the Rules are in place for everyones positive experience, no one told your friend to go, he left on his own accord, you even stated it yourself 9pm. If everyone respected the park rules, we would of been informed of your friends visiting and there would of been no confusion. Your experience has only been dampened by your own actions. Please don't blame others for things that clearly did not happen, especially the conversations you have put in your review. I can't understand why someone would say such horrible things. Its hurtful. I was making conversation with your mate cooking, and I actually mentioned he may need more log on the fire for heat, as he did look like it was a struggle. I was being kind and trying to help. Have a nice day.

Great location, and the people who stay at the Caravan park are often quite lovely and have a good conversation around the fire. I’m a local who lives just in past Hideaway Bay at Captain Jack Drive, and had a friend visiting at the caravan park. I dropped in to say hello to him, and was chatting around the fire to residents and the lady owner came over, pulled him aside and started lecturing him about having me as a guest, when he didn’t bring me in, nor did she approach me and ask who I was. Apparently I was there after curfew, at 8:35pm, and instead of approaching me decided to embarrass and lecture a friend. That’s also after donating some local produce to the caravan park a week earlier. Cross your i’s and dot your t’s because the lady is like the principal off the movie Matilda.

Harry, Local or not, there is rules for anyone visiting the park. There is clear signage as you drive in and also the T&C's explain that the person who has paid for a site, is responsible for their guests. I was polite and informing of the times within the park. At no time did my husband or myself (no mention of him in your review) say you had to leave. You got up and headed out at that time on your own will. It was lovely that your family member brought produce into the park, that was shared around to all our guests, and was very appreciated, however on night you made mention of that and then again in your review like it should give you privileges. (We didn't even know who you were anyway). I will be happy to sit in your back yard for 3.5hrs unannounced, and see how that works for you. And your childish behaviour of going past the park, constantly blowing your horn, as been noted and recorded on footage, its harassment, and if it continues the authorities will be made aware. Have a nice day.

Fantastic bush setting caravan park. This is a well run and managed park. The managers are very professional and friendly enough. This park seems to have a lot of rules but so do all well managed caravan parks - the rules are for the general good of every one in the park and makes it a pleasant stay. The beach is about a 7 minute walk from the caravan park and the nearest hotel is about a 30 minute nearly 2 k walk by google maps . Both places you need to work out the best way to get to them by the short cuts The boat ramp is at Dingo Bay about a 7 kilometre drive. There is basically no shops just a small general store in Dingo Bay.The caravan park is a amazing place to stay very clean amenities and a swimming pool. The caravan sites have plenty of room to set up easily and fully serviced. This caravan park is on septic tanks and tank water so you must be considerate to all others at the park. Looking forward to coming back. You should book before attending.

Showers and toilets have just had a cheap makeover to justify ridiculous staying price. Water turns off mid shower and there is clearly a lack of ammenities to service the amount of people staying. Your bomb barded with rules from the minute you check in but it’s hard to see and consideration given to the people paying to keep their doors open. A simple example is no hand towel or hand dryer in the bathrooms!! It is an ok location but miles from everything it seems.

Poorest communication I’ve ever seen, and that’s coming from a local. I’d probably have better luck booking something like this overseas. Owner Ian is a good bloke so hopefully you speak to him but apologises in advance if you get Cathy, expect total confusion and complete rudeness. Would never bother going there again for the fortune they charge and the troubles they cause.

Sorry Jakob, we are little confused by this review, the lie and exaggeration. Like all Caravan parks, motels etc, a check out time is set, and you guys had only booked one night on arrival. You were informed that if you wished to stay a second that you would need to inform the reception by 10am. You left the grounds, we simply made a phone call asking your intentions of staying, and asked, when you return to grounds to pay for your second night accommodation. If it was so hard and expensive, I don't understand why you booked a second night. There wasn't anything rude or lacking in communication, its was all on email and handed to you on arrival.

Neil is not pleasant….but oh my god, Kathy is the devil!! Don’t dare have one single complaint because you will be met with the most indignant and in compassionate response known to the travelling community! If you’re easy going to the extent that you don’t care about your accommodation…you’ll have NO trouble here!…And also, if you think you may be a person who can accept below par accommodation and just grin and bear it…this may be the place for you!!👍🏼….that said….good luck, you were warned!!

This is one of the best caravan parks we have stayed in. Green grass, conctete slab for our van annex. Pristine amenities block, lovely gardens, and the serene setting encourage s relaxation. Hosts Neil & Kathy are welcoming and great company around the evening fire pit, all of the regular guests make you feel part of the group. Love the pool, location, walks and fishing. Such a hidden gem. An absolute credit to Neil & Kathy.

At hideaway bay resort for our first night was fine although a disrespectful, impolite , indesisive female tells us that we cannot go walk around the fire , we left afte she told us woth her body language we cannot roast marshmellows as she said "we keep our gardens nice so you wont find any sticks in there "we,d go have some dinner as the respectful minor i am i then i would put on some youtube for the lovely guests having some dinner and not sitting in silence , the next morning we went out for the day came back to camp at around 6:00pm start to cook dinner 30 mins later and this rude woman comes up and said that I am not allowed to watch some YouTube and we apparently throwing around a book which is the hideaway bay library to her standards-based on what she said it was mothers day and my mum would go and take my sister to the toilets then when she got back I was cooking on there very sticky bbqs they provide rude woman goes to my mum (on mothers day your child ID not allowed to cook at the BBQ areas my mum said he's very quite capable at doing things rude woman goes" how old is he " mum says 13 ", she like ohh yeaaa 13 so basically at this very wonderful nice place done a great job at doing the setup but oh no No swimming over 6:30pm No pulling stupid cardboard off of the TV remove so you see buttons No music No child's touching books No staying up till 9:00 NO being up before 7:00am And definitely no breathing to loud based on she will come over This woman is got to be the most rudest hosts of a camp site I've been at I would go to another place to be honest lovely areas , 5 km away from the beaches ,awesome fishing ,cannot have your own fires , woman does not approve no shoes around tiny fireplace recomend if you wanna get yelled at

Don't stay here with kids. Especially kids that are capable of cooking and fixing the service issues on the TV because the will take the remotes. Don't expect to be able to have a fire in your own area. Your expected to go convene in the commune fire area along as you fit in with "her" own longgggg list of rules and recommendations ...and definitely don't think you have kids that like to roast marshmallows...maybe just bring your own stick...just to avoid the conflict! So to sum it up...Don't breathe too much, don't cook if your "underage", don't shower too much, don't use the TV, don't look for sticks in the gardens and don't use the pool. Definitely do not touch the extensive library of love novels they have on offer to read. The property is beautifully kept, pity its takes one person to ruin a families holiday experience

Thanks for your feedback. We are sorry you don't agree with our terms and conditions in our park. Due to risk management associated in all Caravan parks, the following is very important to abide by. Children must wear shoes at all times while in camp fire area for their own safety, this is a common practice. We don't allow fires through park, due to the area and fire restrictions throughout year and also the smoke disturbing other campers. Children must be supervised in Camp Kitchen and should not be using Gas BBQ's. (Risk Management) We have an extensive range of books in our library and our library works on a Swap system, which has been affective for many years. Books should certainly not be abused. We are only able to receive Satellite TV reception and our remotes are covered to help people navigate easily for use. There was no problem with the TV or remote, if the cover was not removed and buttons were pressed. The remotes were not removed?? We are a self sufficient park, and we are very water conscious. Our signs are there to indicate to people the situation, and to be water wise. I would recommend referring to the terms and conditions in your travels, to avoid any more conflict with future stays.
