I’m currently disappointed with the way things are being run around the store. It used to be a welcoming environment where everyone would be able to just walk in and have access to shop by trade and sell their items at reasonable rates, but now as things have changed prices have hijacked up, items that used to be worth something are now unobtainable. Rita was trying to help me out, but ended up profiling me because I wasn’t wearing designer or had the look of designer on me which I found Extremely racist because not only am I just trying to get by and make a living. I’m not trying to have someone make me feel less than for not having some designer BS. Please take my review under consideration and have an evaluation on your team members as this is not acceptable!!!! 1 star
I’m incredibly disappointed by the treatment that was received here. No one deserves to be spoken to or treated differently because of their race, and what happened here was unacceptable.
We expected a welcoming environment, but instead encountered hostility and prejudice. This kind of behavior reflects poorly on the business and raises serious concerns about how customers are treated. Especially those from marginalized communities. You would think with such a diverse community in Houston, staff (aka Rita) would be MUCH more mindful of how to speak to customers of color.
I hope the owners and staff reflect on this and take meaningful steps to address these issues. Until then, I cannot recommend this place to anyone who values respect, dignity, and basic human decency.
Today, I visited this amazing place. I’ve been shopping here for what seems like forever. I’ve made friends with some of the nicest ladies. For the first time, I had purses to consign, instead of donating. Rita, the consignment manager, rudely blurted out to me, the shop ONLY accepts designer bags. I listened to her tell me what I knew, wasn’t true. “Rosetti” isn’t a designer name? That’s what was hanging off the rack! I attempted to consign Michael Kors, Coach, Vera Bradley and Brighton bags, and purses. I strongly feel “Rude Rita” was racial profiling, and told her so. What a humongous disappointment. I will NOT allow this ruthless person to steal my joy. She shoved the form inside my carry bag and showed her true colors. No shame whatsoever. Representation says a lot, and Rita needs to make time to hear herself speak to people of color, who not only shop here. But, donate as well. I’ll be praying for her soul.
I recently visited the store and found a gorgeous bag that I now own. Unfortunately, while I was checking out the different wares within the store, I found one of the employees following me around. This was the first time in my life as far as I've noticed that I was followed around a store and it was a deeply saddening experience to know that someone assumed that I was a thief based on the color of my skin. I'll have to see if I want to go back.
